Where should I place Hatch Baby in the room? Place Hatch Baby at least 3 feet from your baby’s sleep space, ideally near the door to block outside noise. Keep cords tucked away and never place the device on the crib. What kind of support do your Sleep Consultants provide? We’ve used the Hatch every day for a few months now and it’s one of the few baby purchases I’d recommend as a MUST for a newborn. The white noise and night light combo has made bedtime feel calmer, and the app control is what really sets it apart. I really love the insights that the app provides about sleep for all stages of life. It’s helpful as a first-time parent! The moment it won me over was the first time our baby was finally asleep and I realized the volume was just slightly too loud. Not enough to wake them, but enough to make me worry I’d regret it later. Instead of creeping into the room and risking a creaky door, I turned it down from my couch on the app. Baby stayed asleep, and I felt like I’d pulled off a tiny miracle. Same goes for the opposite if we’re watching a loud movie and don’t want to wake up our baby. The sound quality is excellent, the light is perfect for middle-of-the-night feeds without blasting the whole room, and the scheduling feature makes it easy to keep a consistent routine. It’s not the cheapest sound machine, but after four months of daily use, it’s been reliable and completely worth it.

I was given the Hatch Rest 2nd Gen for my first baby, and thought it might be a little bit overkill. However, we have only used it more and more as our child has grown. Now for number two, I decided to upgrade to the Hatch Baby. They've made some great upgrades over the years: -night light function: you just press a button on the side and a gentle light comes on so you can nurse/change a diaper/whatever you need to do without turning on the overhead light or needing a separate lamp. You also don't need to have your phone to control this. When you're up in the middle of the night and exhausted, its super simple and super handy to have this function. (see video for functionality) -the button on top is now the control instead of a touch ring to start/stop your programmed lights. I actually like the button a bit more because you can control the on/off and the volume with it very easily (see video). As your child grows they will be able to easily operate it (more on that below). There is another button on the bottom that controls brightness. -There is now an AI sleep guide and pointers about sleep. I'm a bit of a stickler about the kid getting plenty of sleep (because that means I get plenty of sleep), and I think this product really helps you from birth to set some good groundwork for healthy sleep habits. The Hatch Baby app is easy to use, easy to make different programs for your baby (for example white light/noise for a certain number of minutes after you put them to sleep). We used temporary white noise when our first was younger, but now we use the Hatch as a night light (growing minds/imaginations seem to have more fear of the dark), and we are also using the ability to program in a 'wake-up' light to teach our child when it is time to get up (otherwise they know they can keep sleeping). Also, the versatility with colors of light (there are over 20 options) and different types of sound (from white/pink noise to rain, fan, etc) has made it so there is something to fit all of our needs (for example we started with a gentle white light, but as our child decided purple was the best color ever and was having some fear of the dark, we changed the light to purple and she instantly (no joke) went back to sleeping through the night). You can control multiple hatch products via the app very easily. To me, the look doesn't matter as much as the functionality, but I do like how sleek the product is-looks nice in any space without needing to be the focal point. Overall, I'd say I was a bit of a skeptic, but now couldn't imagine bedtime/middle-of-the-night time, etc without this product--to the point that I bought it again!

The hatch has been on my baby list for a while now since thats all I hear new moms talk about. I was not sure at first about this purchase but after the 10th mom recommending it, I finally decided to try it. So far, the Hatch has honestly been one of our favorite baby purchases. The white noise is really soothing (not staticky or annoying) and will be great for helping my baby fall asleep and stay asleep. I love the soft light for middle-of-the-night feeds and diaper changes . It’s bright enough to see but not so bright that it fully wakes the baby. You are able to control everything from your phone which is a good bonus. Since I will have a c section, it will be a plus not to get up unnessesarly. I can adjust the volume or light without even going into the room. I love the design and look of it as well. I tend to gravitate towards aestheiclly pleasing products which I appreciate of the design. I also love that we’ll be able to use it as our baby grows with the time-to-rise feature. It’s simple, works great, and looks cute in the nursery. Definitely worth it and I’d 100% buy it again!

We got the Hatch Baby Sound Machine about 3 weeks ago, and it has already become part of our daily routine, which says a lot because I usually feel strongly about baby gadgets. The white noise sounds smooth and calming (not harsh or mechanical), and it really helps signal sleep time for our baby. We use it for naps and bedtime, and I love that I can adjust the volume or switch sounds without going into the room and risking waking him up. What I appreciate most is how practical it is in real life. The app control is simple, and setting routines has been easy even though we’ve only had it for a short time. In just a few weeks, it’s already made sleep feel more consistent for us, and that alone makes it worth it. Definitely one of the better baby purchases we’ve made recently.

The Hatch Baby Sound Machine has been a game-changer for our bedtime routine! The sound quality is excellent, with a variety of soothing white noise and calming sounds that help create the perfect sleep environment. The adjustable night light is a fantastic feature, providing just the right amount of gentle illumination without being too bright. I also love how easy it is to customize settings through the app, allowing us to adjust sounds, volume, and light colors without disturbing a sleeping baby. The design is sleek, modern, and fits nicely in any nursery. Whether for naps, bedtime, or helping block out household noise, this sound machine has made a noticeable difference in sleep quality for the whole family. Highly recommend it to any parent looking for a reliable and versatile sleep aid! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

HIGHLY RECOMMEND - My son is 6, he has always been a very light sleeper and we've been through MANY white noise machines over the years. I was actually very happy with our current one, however, he had an "ok to wake" clock as well as a star projector all on his nightstand and it was just too crowded. I paid about the same for our current white noise machine, so the price wasn't a big factor for me. PROS: -lights: color and brightness both fully customizable. -volume: many kids white noise machines aren't loud enough for us (we live on a very busy corner, lots of honking and fire station nearby) Not the case with this one, at max volume, its WAY too loud. -loops: as he's gotten older, my son has complained of being able to hear loops or patterns in the sounds (usually with varied sounds like rain or babbling brook). Neither the wind or TV sounds have discernable loops -quality: the sound quality and speaker are both great. We've had some that had flat/tinny sounds before. -ease of use: easy to download and connect to the app -programmability: this has been by FAR the greatest feature. I've set up 4 different auto on/off programs for SLEEP, WAKE, WEEKDAY, WEEKEND. Orange light w/sound =stay in bed and comes on at 7:30 pm Sun-Thurs and 8:00 pm Fri-Sat. Green light (with same sound and volume so as to not accidentally wake him up if he's slept in) = ok to get out of bed comes on at 7:00 am M-F and 7:30 am Sat-Sun. I have the green light & sounds turn off at 7:30 on school days and 8 am on weekends. CON: -the ONLY hiccup we've had was the very first morning after programming. I had to manually turn it on the night before (since I set it at 7:45 pm which was after the weekday "stay in bed" timer should have started) so the next morning it was still in "manual" mode and the green light never turned on. I noticed around 7:10 am when I heard him singing to himself, so I used the app to manually adjust the light color to green and heard him "ooh and ahh" in amazement. Since that first night, we haven't had any trouble with the timers. I've also turned on the toddler lock so he can't put it back into manual mode. BONUS: -less bedtime struggle: I'm no longer to the one enforcing bedtime - when the Hatch comes on, he knows it is time to go to bed and there's no arguing for or whining to the Hatch for "just 5 more minutes". We just got an Echo Dot and I saw there was an Alexa integration. I read up on the features and really wish this had been around when he was an infant. You can log diapers, sleep times, nursing times, pumping times and all kinds of other cool stuff. Even so, as our all in 1 night light, white noise, wake timer - this thing has been amazing!

*** SEE END OF REVIEW FOR UPDATE *** We needed a night light for our 3-month-old's nursery and this has fit the bill beautifully. To be clear, this machine works via Bluetooth, NOT via WiFi. This has advantages and disadvantages which I'll mention below. Overall, though, there's a lot to love about this machine and only a few small quibbles I have with it. What's great about this machine: 1) It looks stylish -- modern yet neutral. And because the light can be just about any color, it can fit in with whatever color scheme your room is. 2) It's easy to use. The downloadable phone app works for both Android and IOS and is very self-explanatory. Programs can be set to start and finish at any time each day (or set days of the week) and include settings for light color and brightness as well as your choice of sound (or silence) and the volume of the sound. 3) The sound machine function produces a wide range of soothing background sounds: "woodsy" noise (crickets), rain shower, white noise (like television static), singing birds, ocean waves, rippling water, a laundry machine, and three different sets of melodies. These sounds are surprisingly not nearly as annoying as I assumed they would be -- most of them are actually quite nice. 4) The "Okay to get up" feature will be great when our little one becomes a toddler. Basically, just set a program for a particular color to turn on at a certain time in the morning so your toddler knows it's "okay" to get out of bed for the day. I have no doubt this will come in handy! A few things I'm not as wild about: 1) The volume of some of the sounds could stand to have a wider range, particularly on the lower end. For example, the white noise sound is quite loud, even on the lowest volume setting. We have it dialed all the way down and it's passable but still almost too loud. 2) The ability to program sounds and lights is a great feature, but it would be nice to be able to start a program on demand instead of only at a pre-set time. For example, we have our "overnight" program set to begin at 9 p.m. and end at 6:30 a.m., but sometimes our little one goes to bed a few minutes before or after 9:00. It would be nice to be able to start the overnight program with the push of a button at, say, 9:08 and have it still end at 6:30 a.m. 3) As I mentioned above, this machine is controllable via a phone app via Bluetooth, not WiFi. On the plus side, this means you don't have to plug anything into your router, and the connection is very easy to make. On the minus side, only one phone can control it at a given time. My wife and I both have the app on our phones, and if we are both close to the machine one of us might have to close the app for the other to use it. Also, because Bluetooth has a relatively short range, you may not be able to control this machine from more than a room or two away. Then again, this is a night light, not a baby monitor, so the "need" to connect to it from the other end of the house is not as great. I'm very happy with this purchase and would certainly purchase it again! *** UPDATE 12/18/2018 *** We have been using this light for almost a year and a half, and we like it so much we purchased a second one to use for our son who was born a month ago. Although he isn't sleeping in his own room yet, we have the Hatch set up in our bedroom so he has a night light. So, this is the first time we have used the phone app to control more than one device. You can pair more than one device with your phone, but unfortunately switching between the devices in the app is a little cumbersome because you essentially have to "log out" of one device and "log on" to the other. It's not difficult, but it seems like a lot of steps. As I mentioned in my main review, I suspect this is because the pairing is via Bluetooth, not WiFi, which limits the complexity of the communication. And as a reminder, only one person can be "logged in" to a device at a time, so if my wife wants to change the volume or the sound and I was the last person to make a change, she can't do anything until I log out on my phone. Fortunately this light will probably be used on a set schedule most of the time, so accessing it via the phone app is probably not something you will do very often once your have a set routine.

We love this sound machine! The white noise is soothing and helps create a calm bedtime environment for my baby. The night light is a great bonus, especially for nighttime feedings and diaper changes. Easy to use, practical, and has become an essential part of our nightly routine.
