The media could not be loaded. The lanterns were a little smaller than I was expecting : they’re only about 7½ inches tall and 5 inches wide. But as a garden or deck accent, they’re actually quite perfect. But I’m most impressed with the flame effect. On the first night after they came on, I was actually startled when I first glanced out the window and truly thought something was burning in my backyard. The dancing flames – especially from a distance – are quite realistic. So far, every night, they have also lasted the entire night – even after cloudy days of charging. I suspect this may not be the case in the winters when the sun angle is low and the nights are much longer. But for summer nights, these lanterns give you glowing and dancing flames all night long. (See video: the first 15 seconds show the lights just after dusk; the second 15 seconds show them in the dark of night.) One TIP – you need to turn the lights on. The instructions state the switch is on the bottom of the light. Well, it’s not on the bottom of the lantern – but truly on the bottom of the light at the very top of the lantern. You need to unscrew the top of the lamp from the base, turn it over, and there you’ll find the on/off switch. You can also use this switch to change to a solid glowing lamp vs. flame. These have fallen off my deck about 25 feet onto concrete and they still work like they’re brand new! They are so nice and look elegant. My neighbors are envious!

Update… I almost returned these because I couldn’t find the on/off switch. Even my husband couldn’t find it. When I went to put them back in the box I turned them upside down and finally notice the button inside the lantern, on the bottom of the lid. It’s small and hard to see.
