There is nothing worse than having to break through a wall when you're trying to find a leaky pipe or fix an issue. I’ve used Stud Finders, WallaBees, and other tools to look inside walls. When I started reading about FLIR cameras, I realized it was time to get one. I don’t use it often, but I have to say it’s my top choice for locating wires, pipes, and studs. Anything that shows a temperature difference can be detected. It’s not perfect, but with the right conditions, it’s saved me from repair work. It’s a bit expensive, but I’m very glad I have it in my toolbox.

I do mold assessing I have the HTI - HT19 this is equally as good as that except this has a much bigger screen. I also have to say a friend of mine has a flir E8 this is equally as good if not better due to the fact you can put in a flash card. It comes with a 32 gig card. It has a beautiful screen. I have a flir mr176 and both of these blow it away the HTI - HT 19 and the Thor 002 highly recommend it's incredible that this cost 400 and the flir e8 cost $3,200.

11/10/25 - Updated to 1 star - Never heard back from the company, software is unusable offline. Camera seems to work well and be responsive. My issue is the PC software for offline analysis does not work. Importing a video or image taken by the camera does nothing in the software. Clicking on "user manual" in the software also does nothing. The software from the website is also packaged as a .exe, which any modern OS with antivirus will flag and delete instantly. I was hoping to post process some thermal videos but am unable to at this time. I've reached out to Thermal Master regarding this and will update my review based on their response.

It technically works by showing me differences in infrared. I can barely make out the studs in the exterior wall so the specs aren't what they claim. The upscaling isnt great, turned it both on and off. The only difference was the picture smoothed out, which was to be expected given the specs. The refresh rate isnt accurate or theres a bug which causes the entire device to stutter for 1-2 seconds. It's very annoying. For the price, I'll deal with it. I probably should have bought a nice thermal rifle scope instead and used it inside as a handheld.
