I have used this spreader for planting grass seed on several bare spots in two lawns. This spreader is excellent for that purpose. If you want to concentrate the seed on a number of bare patches of lawn, this one gives you that control instead of spreading seed generally over a 10 to 15 foot area in a scattershot manner. The spreader is lightweight yet sturdy and easy to handle, I easily seeded a couple of dozen spots in my Mother's back yard lawn. Done in 10-15 minutes. If you are applying lawn fertilizer, the spreader that Scott's makes with the hand crank for spreading it evenly is best for spreading it over an entire small to medium sized lawn. I have both types of spreaders.

I have a really long driveway that needs to be salted whenever it snows. We used to use an old plastic bowl to spread salt, but I upgraded this winter to this product. Such a time saver! This holds a lot of product and it’s easy to use. The salt is dispersed in an even way (unlike when I used the plastic bowl!) and helps us save on salt use. I like the small scoop that is included to help fill the container.

I live in a condo and I wanted to put down some ant flea tick granules. I didn’t want a bulky push spreader taking up my small garage. So I went with a hand spreader the cap allows you to put down a small amount or bigger holes allows for more application. It works as designed and was like using a big salt shaker. It’s easy to store and easy to keep it from getting stuff everywhere.

Really like this spreader for DM. I like the small scoop provided but don't like that its edges are square instead of round for pouring into a round container. You have to be careful to get the square edges lined up just right to pour DM into the round container.
