I’ve had hand mixers before. Big clunky things with attachments we had to store carefully so we’d know where they were when we wanted to mix something again. Here’s the good part: it all stores in a clear base so it’s easy to put away. Can’t tell you how much I love that. It’s fairly light weight. Sits well in my hand and my hands aren’t large. The only possible down side is it doesn’t whip slowly. It fires right up and goes at a brisk pace, even at the lowest settings. Started out great. It HAD a lot of power, purchased it in 9/24 and it just burned up today 8/26. I was making a cake & had it on low - it sounded like it was struggling to mix, so I turned it up one more speed and I could smelling it burning up. Seconds later there was smoke. I ordered two of these hand mixers, one for my daughter and one for myself. Mine replaces a 25-year old Kitchenaid hand-held that was slowly dying, so this new burst of power is beyond amazing! (I did not see anything like my old one offered by Kitchenaid now). I love the turbo feature—just a touch while in any other mode and you get an extra pulse-boost when dough gets heavy and/or bogged down. Though the booklet shows 2 “balloon” beaters in several places (cover & inside parts list), the product description only lists 1 “whisk” instead, which is what you get. The whisk is the same size as the beaters (not longer or larger as photos might imply), and I find it slightly weird to have only one beater inserted. Thus, I saved both of the “whisk” beaters from my old hand-held mixer to use for this purpose—they fit perfectly—and gave my new single whisk to my daughter, so now she has two as well. I’m not as thrilled with the square-ish beaters, and wish they were more curved like a modern mixer’s, but, they do the job with only a few seconds extra to clean them once they’ve soaked a bit. I have not yet tried the dough beaters, but assume they work as described by others. The actual unit feels a little heavier than my old one, but it wasn’t difficult to adapt to this one—especially since the trade-off is super power! This mixer has plenty of power. It seems a bit more quiet than the last few I've owned. The beaters eject pretty well, not completely every time but pretty well. The cord is a good length. However, the switch is, was, inconvenient in size and shape. It is, was, flush with the top casing meaning entirely flat. There was a slot for a fingernail but that requires two hands. The switch got progressively harder to use until the slider broke. It can still be turned up and down and off and on but a sharp point is required and even then it is difficult not something I want to do with it running and throwing bits of batter everywhere. So it has to be set to speed, then plugged in for go and unplugged for stop. ... show more
