Great coffee maker! Does everything it says it will, and it’s easy to use, and easy to clean, and maintain. I regularly use both single serve K-Cup and Thermal Carafe and the coffee is always well brewed and hot. I recommend this machine for everyday use.

Absolutely LOVE this coffee maker. After years of using Keurig, this one is less expensive but works much better. Fits nicely on my counter - takes up no more room than my Keurig did. I love the option of either a pod or grounds. Also should mention the carafe is great. No dripping after the pour. Keeps coffee hot all morning and then I microwave any I have left. I had the same problem many other reviewers reported -- grounds in my cup and splattered all in and around the pod holder. It happens with both coffee and tea k-cups. (My pods are not old and are not off brands.) I cleaned the needles and made sure the pods and pod holder were seated correctly. Every cup had at least a teaspoon of grounds in the bottom. And I had to clean the pod holder and around the upper needle every time because of splattered grounds. When I lifted out the pod holder, wet grounds were all over the bottom and sides of the cup where the holder sits. The last time I used the machine, it did not brew, but filled my cup with water and grounds in the bottom of the cup. Returning for a refund. ... show more

    • Great coffee maker, but some quirks
Pretty good coffee maker (I would rate it 4.5). I like how little space this takes compared to the other Hamilton beach coffee maker that I had (it started smoking and I was reluctant to buy another HB coffee maker, but liked the design of this one). Things I like: 1) Coffee from the pot tastes great (use the bold setting) 2) Design. I think this is a perfect design. Takes up little space on the counter, everything looks neat and tidy. 3) Big one: fits under counter and you do not need to move it every time you make coffee. We kept the water to the side for easy access, and the coffee filter area swings out instead of up. Other makers should take note of this. 4) Many brew options 5) No burner (we always seem to get coffee drips leaving marks) 6) Easy to set up touch screen Things I did not like: 1) It does not use the same fittings for the single brew as the old one which was a disappointment (they are shorter in this model) 2) Doesn't make great coffee from single serve (was expected as I had the other similar model) 3) Brew time in pot takes pretty long especially on bold. Only a problem when we don't schedule it. 4) Biggest complaint: Pot only allows 2,4,6,8,10,12 cups. 4 cups is just a little too little for me and my wife. 6 cups is just a waste of coffee. I don't know why they didn't do single cups on this. I don't think most people would change this setting that often that it would be a nuisance. We always set it to 4 cups. If we have company, wouldn't take long to set it to more even with individual cup settings. ... show more

    • Very nice coffee maker
I bought the coffee maker to replace another Hamilton Beach maker. I love the fact that the reservoir works for both single cup and pot. No more separate reservoirs. The water heats instantly which surprised me. The carafe is stainless steel, won’t buy glass. It keeps coffee hot longer. It brewed quickly. It’s slimmer than my old, but it’s longer. Barely fits on my coffee maker rolling board. The selection screen is easy to use. My other Hamilton Beach lasted 4 years. I’m hoping this lasts longer. ... show more

The 5 in 1 is great. I love the thermal carafe. It is one of the few that doesn’t need a lot of counter space or height. The side mount water is easy to fill and the coffee dispenser works with regular paper filters. Easy to understand the LED lights. The single cup has many options for how many ounces you want to brew. The carafe also has options of how many cups you want to brew and either regular or bold. A great coffee maker! ... show more

I am ridiculously happy with this purchase! We drink a LOT of coffee, sometimes k-cups and sometimes brewed. We switched to a dual function coffeemaker a few years ago (the kuerig duo) and it recently died on us. We did some research and ended up choosing this one primarily because it came with an insulated carafe. Holy moly, this was an upgrade! My biggest complaint about the Kuerig Duo is that you had to press 3 different buttons to brew a k-cup (and when not yet caffeinated, that's .... a lot! LOL) The HB is ONE button and it brews quickly. I can't say enough about this one - it looks great, it brews fast, it's easy to use, it was smartly designed, and ... it was a good 20+ bucks cheaper than the others we considered. ... show more
