And since the door opens above the oven, it frees up your countertop space in front. Best of all, it’s easy to keep clean because food can’t spill on the door. Contoured dials are easy to grip and turn, making it simple to switch between bake, broil and toast settings. The stay-on setting is safer thanks to a stop mechanism that prevents the knob from being turned to stay-on by accident. Don't waste your money on cheap models. This one feels solid and like it will last. The dials are very reliable. It is easy to keep the door clean and looking like new. We have had this toaster oven for months now and it is still working perfectly. Be aware that it tends to toast faster than some others, so it could be easy to start a fire quickly if you do not attend to it. The size is excellent. 6 slices is probably an exaggeration, unless you use tiny slices of bread. But 4 and sometimes 5 pose no problem. In the past we got Black & Decker models, both of which became unreliable over time - they would stay on after the timer was finished or turn off before, or the timer dial would refuse to stay in position. Of course, time will tell whether some of those issues begin to affect this one, but I think it is unlikely. The timer dial has two buttons on the side that must be pinched before turning it. I am not sure of the exact purpose of them, but it seems to me that they may enhance the longevity of the mechanism. Overall, I would highly recommend this product. ... show more

We had a DeLonghi toaster oven for over 15 years and when we renovated our kitchen I wanted a new one. Unfortunately they no longer made the same model and nothing else in their “toaster oven” line worked for our needs. I didn’t need or want an air fryer and most of the models were too large. I ordered a Cuisinart and had to return it when it caught fire. We found this Hamilton Beach model and I really liked the “garage door” lid. The toaster works well and fits 6 slices of bread when needed. I still like the garage door concept, but you cannot put anything on top of it now. Trays, bread stored on the counter, etc. It’s a good little toaster and works perfectly for our needs. ... show more

    • The perfect OVEN (it's not just for toast)
I've been using a small Rival toaster oven for years but have wanted to upgrade to something larger. I've had my eye on the Hamilton Beach EAsy Open oven for a while so when it went on sale during Prime Days I got it for half its original cost and took the plunge. I've been using this oven nearly daily for the last few months without complaint. It has exceeded my expectations completely and then some. I love the easy open door... I wasn't sure how much clearance I would have under my counter but it's just the right height so I can easily open and close the door. The control knobs are fantastic and easy to read... I didn't want digital controls (my husband is completely in the dark when it comes to tech stuff) and these are so easy to use... very intuitive, plug it in and it basically explains itself... didn't really even need the manual to figure out how it works. It cooks to accurate temperatures as well. Some reviews stated that the cook temps were off, but I have not found this to be the case and have used an oven thermometer to test the termperatures. Besides using it for toast, I've made cookies, frozen dinners, mini pizzas, and a whole slew of things I would normally use the oven for, but in small batches... not having to turn on my oven and preheat for 20 minutes to cook a small portion of something is not only a time saver but an electricity saver as well. Cleaning the inside of the glass can be a challenge if you have large hands... fortunately for me I have small enough hands that I can get under it with a cleaning cloth and wipe off any grunge. Another thing I LOVE is that the crumb tray is full-size... it covers the entire bottom of the oven and is easily removable from underneath the bottom rack. No having to pop open crumb trays (like my old oven and toaster) amid a shower of toast crumbs. This is really easy to clean. I do wish the provided tray was large enough to fit into the rack slots... why HB only made it wide enough to sit on top of the rack is a bit of a mystery. All in all, for $49, this is easily one of the best things I've purchased for the house in a long time and would gladly buy this again. ... show more

The rollover door design is a nice space-saver. That said, cleaning its fixed glass window might become a challenge down the road. So far, though, that glass has remained spotless, so maybe my worry is useless. And the oven itself with crumb tray, etc. is well designed and made. The top surface of the cooking box throws off considerable heat. [To me, that seemed like a waste of good energy that just begged for some consumer ingenuity. So, I did this hack... I scored/snapped a thin ceramic tile that matches the kitchen backsplash and laid it on that flat surface. I cut it precisely (14" x 5-1/2") so that the door clears the tile edge on both open and close. Now it's a great place to park a heated stove pan that just needs a passive place to warm while other things inside the oven finish their cooking. Functional, plus it looks great when not in use.] I particularly appreciate the generous sized oven space -- accommodates virtually all cookware I'd use. Capacity/shape was the main reason I selected this model, but I'm quite pleased overall. Note: I purchased this 'open box' at a discount from Amazon Warehouse, so I got an especially solid value. ... show more
