  • Would buy again
Style: Model 62650
Second one I have owned, first one lasted 7 years. Motor still worked, beater enclosure gave out

  • The 2nd one I bought in at least 20 years.
Style: Model 62650
I just received the mixer. It is replacing one I've had for as long as I remember. It's the exact same model, and it snaps on to the old base! One of the gears finally wore out while making a buttercream frosting. I had opened the old mixer a while back to clean & lube the motor & gears and noticed that the gears were worn. It died last week. I've tried other mixers but none worked as well as this model. Should it fail, or not work well, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, I'm quite sure this will give years of service. I did notice a review that said that the mixer was "heavy" and after use, there was a "smell." My original also smelled after much use, but worked fine. As to the weight, it uses heavy duty parts (except for the nylon gears) and should last for years. ... show more

It a little hard to switch the speed. Also have trouble sticking the bottom on

  • Too heavy
Style: Model 62650
I did not like that it is too heavy and the lowest speed is too fast. Appliances are not like they used to be anymore. The model isn't appealing either, looks like you are going to iron clothes.

  • Solid hand mixer for light to medium jobs
Style: Model 62650
I don't own a stand mixer, and until just recently, I relied mostly on my housemate's hand mixer . However, due to the fast approaching holiday baking season, I decided to get a hand mixer of my own. I like the Hamilton Beach line of hand mixers since they are cheap, and, from my experience with my housemate's hand mixer, they can stand up well to light/medium mixing jobs (about 3 years so far). I especially like the snap-on case in which to store all the attachments. I had the opportunity to get one of the name brand Kitchen Aid / Cuisinart hand mixers earlier this year, but I had gotten so used to the practicality of the attached storage case that I passed on buying the name brand ones. I prefer my housemate's hand mixer for the cord storage, since I can wrap the power cord around the hidden compartment at one end, whereas with this one, the cord is just stuffed into the snap-on storage case, along with all the beaters. I also dislike the "traditional beater" with the center post that this mixer comes with, but my housemate's comes with the "twisted wire" beater than doesn't have the center post down through the middle. Also, the snap-on storage case is harder to remove for this mixer compared to my housemate's. However, the case is gradually getting easier to put on and take off, so hopefully it will eventually reach a state where the case is easy on, easy off. So far, my housemate and I have used either this mixer , or the Hamilton Beach 62676 Performance Plus mixer for: whipped cream, whipped egg whites, banana bread, muffins and other quick breads, cupcakes, boxed cake mixes, cakes from scratch, frosting, brownies, soft cookie doughs, etc. This mixer is definitely not for mixing bread doughs or stiffer cookie doughs. For many cookie doughs, you just need to fold in by hand ingredients like chocolate chips or nuts after mixing the base dough, so this hasn't really been a problem yet for me. The main drawback with this hand mixer is that the front ventilation slashes on the mixer body can get lightly dusted or splashed with whatever you are mixing, but I've yet to see/use a hand mixer that doesn't suffer from this problem. I recommend this mixer as a practical solution for light to medium mixing jobs, although I'd rate the Hamilton Beach 62676 Performance Plus mixer as slightly better, due to the wrap-around hidden cord compartment, and the fact that its main beaters do not have the center post down through the middle. For tougher jobs, though, more expensive hand mixers may be necessary, but so far, the Hamilton Beach 62650 6-Speed Classic Hand Mixer, Silver has done a good job of every mixing task I've thrown at it. ... show more

  • Top Notch
Style: Model 62650
I'm an experienced cook/baker who uses mixers often. I had a beautiful little Cuisinart hand mixer that lasted 2 years. That mixer was a 220 watt. Then, the motor burned up (complete with smoke issuing forth from the vents) during the mixing of stiff cookie dough. I decided to look for a more powerful mixer. I don't want a big mixer to sit on the counter taking up room. So I bought this Hamilton Beach because it has 290 watts, fairly powerful for a hand mixer. I've used it for only a short while. So far it's worked very well on stiff doughs and comes with two sets of beaters; the thicker "old-fashioned" ones and the thin ones. Both work beautifully. It also has the container to keep the beaters in. It's easy to use and stable standing up. It has vents on the front and the back. It does not have a digital readout for speeds; the speed indicator is manual, but I don't really miss the digital all that much. They didn't offer white, but the stainless and black combo clean up easily. So far, it's a great mixer; slightly larger than the previous mixer I owned, but not too big and not too heavy in the least. Comfortable to handle. I hope it lasts for a long time. If not, I'll put more info on here. Certainly, I'd recommend it. It's a solid mixer at a very good price. 2 YEARS LATER Well, the gear on the left that holds the beater just died. I guess the reviewers who say the plastic gears don't last are right. Even so, this is a really good mixer, far superior to others, except that it might not last as long as you want it to. If you don't mind that, you'll have a great mixer until it dies. In my case, too soon. Now I have to decide whether to get another of these, or just buy a totally different one. I really do love the extra power of this little mixer, though. ... show more

  • I absolutely love it
Style: Model 62650
Great mixer. This is my second one I've owned. I love the attachments being right with the mixer so I don't have to look for them. Mixes and whips potatoes quite well. Compact setup so it doesn't take a lot of room on the shelves.
