I installed this pump one week ago and so far it’s working perfectly. I connected it to the ‘HALF OFF PONDS Variable Speed Control for Pond Pumps’ to vary the speed. My only complaint is the way the pump connects to the 2” pipe. On my previous HALF OFF PONDS Pump, there were two bolts that could be removed that would allow the connector to be screwed onto the 2” pipe and then connected to the pump with the two bolts. The pump designed has changed and now there are two screws that attach to loose nuts that are inside the pump. I ended up removing the two bottom sections to get to the loose nuts and then glued them to the undercarriage. They only had to hold long enough to get the screws started. Other than that, the installation went well and the pump works well.

This seemed like a powerful pump that worked well for the first three months. Then after being turned off for routine maintenance on another part of the pond it simply would not come back on. The company (halfoffponds.com) then refused to honor the warranty. They would not even Authorize a return so they could look to see what was wrong with it... literally without even looking at it, declared “it must be installed wrong to fail this soon”. After making me jump through incredible hoops specifying every aspect of how it was installed and filling out silly forms that had to be filled out in long hand and copied or faxed back to them, they simply said they would not honor the warranty because it had been permanently installed (of course this means the electrical installation was permanent and not just plugged in…but it was installed absolutely correctly). There was no problem with the way it was installed but this company worked overtime at finding ways to not honor their warranty after only three months. I highly encourage you to look elsewhere because if you have a problem they will not honor their word.

Pump got here overnight. It replaced my Triton 6000 with no change in performance. It is supplying water to a 50 ft cascading water fall stream in my back yard. 24/7 run time. Will let you know about longevity later.
