If you have a blender you can use for non-food things like moss, dog food etc, I recommend blending small chunks to save your hand muscles from cramping. This expands over ten times its compacted size, softens really well, works for succulents and most plants in different enclosures. I've bought 2 packs of 2 and filled about 6 large tanks with an unopened brick left over. Good price if you don't want to buy in bulk.

I brick was the perfect amount for my snails tank! It tooka bit to break up but overall great! The only thing id say is it did get on my other stuff in the package, so careful when buying multiple things at once. Though it didnt really bother me much.
