This little thing is so cute! It works pretty well but I wouldn't recommend getting this for a child just learning. The threading comes loose very easily and can get frustrating. I bought this for a less intimidating machine to text my 4 year old to sew on. Though she is not able to thread it herself, she picked up the sewing easily. The needle guard is perfect. My main complaint is I wish it had a back stitch

This is a good product for beginners. You need to re-thread a few times. I would recommend get the table with it. You can plug it in or put batteries in it.

I received this machine and was pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price. The only complaint I have is that there is no back stitch - something I would want in order for my seven year old son to learn how to secure stitches. I'm not sure that I would have purchased this machine had I known that was lacking in it's design. Otherwise, it seems to sew just fine - especially for a newbie. ... show more

Purchased this for my 4 year old grandson. He sees me sew and he really wanted to try. He loves it. The needle guard is perfect to avoid mishaps.

    • I found it difficult to thread through all the places ...
I found it difficult to thread through all the places the thread needed to go. I used to sew quite a bit and never have had to actually put the thread through all sorts of different holes. the threading process would have me slip the thread through to catch until it got to the needle, which I would expect to thread it through the hole myself or use a manual needle threader. Every time we restarted sewing on this machine we had to re-thread the needle because it had broken or come unthreaded. The instructions didn't talk about adjusting the tension which is something that it seemed to need. I tried adjusting it, but it didn't seem to help much. I think with this machine I would have to help my 7 year old granddaughter every time she would be sewing. I don't mind helping her and getting her started, but think that the re-threading issue would get old and discourage her. It certainly did me. I returned it and am awaiting a new machine that is quite a bit more expensive, but I hope will be an easier machine for my granddaughter to learn without always having to re-thread. ... show more

    • Easy to use for kids who want to learn to sew
I bought this sewing machine for a children's birthday gift. My niece is turning turning 10 and wants to learn to sew like I do. I like that its a mini size and very portable which is great for a kid. I set it all up and it works great. I'm excited to teach my niece and see what she makes with it.
