I absolutely love these lights. They are very well made, look very much like the more expensive models offered by other merchants and are quite easy to install. Prior to purchasing I read some comments about the instructions not being very clear. However I did not find that to be the case and perhaps if the instructions do not seam clear enough one may want to consider hiring a professional to install the lights: it is electricity after all. In the past I had swing arm lights that were hard wired so I had to convert them to plug in (quite easy to do) but I love that these lights instead come ready to install either hard wired or plug in. No messing with the electrical wires, the work is all done already! All is left to do is attach the plate to the wall (which is the round one you receive in the box, not the rectangular bar that is also depicted in the drawings,secure the "ground" wire around the green "ground" screw on the plate and attach the lamp to the plate with the supplied nuts. That's it. Including drilling it took me less than 10 minutes for both. The longest part was measuring the same height from the floor for both lamps, not having someone around at the time of installation! I would definitely buy these lamps again and because the arms can be angled as needed these lights look nice and elegant in any type of setting, be it a room, hallway or entry way. I searched and searched and this is the best price that I found for compact wall lamps. These are very well made and look more expensive than they actually were. I placed these on each side of a daybed to brighten up a room that doesn't have overhead lighting and these really did the trick. Each can hold a 60 watt bulb, so they give off a really good amount of light. I personally just plugged these into an outlet, so I can't really speak on the hard-wiring aspect, but I highly recommend giving these a try! ... show more

These are on our bedroom wall above each bed for reading. It is much better than trying to read by the harsh light of our ceiling fan/light. I may have to try a bulb that is less light than the max recommended so my husband can sleep when I read after he goes to sleep. Installation was slightly tricky. We did not install into a wall box. My husband had to find longer screws to attach the sconces to the wall studs. Also, the adjustable swing arms do not move easily.
