I bought a similar cordless clipper about 4 years ago and it has worked wonders for trimming my beard, sideburns, etc. While this style of clipper works great, the battery will, over time, start to fade. However, this unit has a quick charge where 60 minutes of charging equates to roughly 2 hours of use. Too bad it doesn’t come with a percentageLED readout to tell you when it’s getting low so you’ll have to keep track of usage on your own. This unit works just fine and I do like the adjustable trimming guide built into the body that allows you to adjust the razor’s closeness without attachments; however, it is nice to have those extra attachments. There are a couple things to remember with this unit: The charger is proprietary, so don’t lose it. The power button changes the speed of the razor head so if it seems a little low, press the button again. The power button, obviously, powers the unit on, but it takes a hard press to start it and a hard press to shut it down. Safety reasons, I’d guess. You can remove the blade to clean it, but the unit itself is not submersible. Wipe it off but don’t put it in water. So, is this unit worth the almost $50 asking price? Well, it’s definitely stout in construction and while the body is mainly plastic, it’s apparent the motor inside is metal. Definitely a bit of top heavy feel there. The motor is quiet and the blades are definitely sharp, so that’s a plus. Worse yet, some of the less expensive models come with a case of some form, this comes with nothing. However, there’s not a whole lot beyond the good points to justify the price spread over other models that do the same for half the price.

I recently received these OLOV Professional hair clippers through the Amazon Vine program and I have been putting them to use on both my beard and my head. My first experience was using them to trim my beard. Initially, I noticed the hair got stuck once or twice but I soon realized the device has two different speed settings. Since beard hair is significantly thicker than head hair, switching to the higher speed solved the issue immediately. When I moved on to cutting the hair on my head, the first speed setting was more than enough to provide a perfect cut without any grabbing or pulling. The build quality is impressive for the price point. The combination of a metal comb and a ceramic blade is a huge plus in terms of sharpness and long term durability. I also found that the unit is very easy to disassemble which makes cleaning out trapped hair from the blade a quick task. The kit even includes a pair of scissors that actually cut very well, unlike some of the flimsy accessories usually found in clipper kits. I have used them for several short periods and the motor has stayed cool during those sessions. I haven't used them long enough in a single go to feel them get hot or uncomfortable to hold. There are a few quirks to be aware of regarding the charging and length options. I left the unit charging overnight but noticed the LED indicator never changed to green or stopped blinking. This makes it difficult to know exactly when it has reached a full charge. Despite that, the battery life seems great as I have used it for several short sessions without needing a recharge. Additionally, the included guide combs are definitely on the short side. Because of the specific compact design, you cannot use standard combs from other hair clipper brands. One detail to note is that while the instructions mention it can be used while plugged in, the provided cable is quite short at just over 3 feet. This makes it a bit restrictive if your outlet isn't right next to your mirror. However, because it is USB powered, you could potentially use it with a power bank in your pocket to maintain corded power without being tethered to a wall. The built-in adjustment height selector ranges from 1.0 mm to 1.9 mm. This provides a great range for blending but it will not give you that almost shaved look that some high priced dedicated trimmers offer. I believe that is simply the functional difference between a clipper meant for bulk and a trimmer meant for skin close detailing. Overall, these are solid clippers for home grooming and maintenance.
