The safe is a very good value decent construction easy to set and I would say almost impossible to open without the use of power tools. All my family members tried to open it with no success. If you are going to use it by the bed this is the best you can get period. Punch code works well and is quick.     • Great 2 or 3 gun safe
My wife and I carry every day and store them in there when we get home. We have used this every day for three years now and have seen no wear or defects since then. It is big enough to store full size handguns. We keep two subcompact EDCs in there and a full size home defense gun with a rail light in there. We also keep a box of ammo or two in the back and sometimes the guns in their most common holster and extra mags. the buttons are easy to feel at night and the repetition makes opening easy. we once heard a load noise downstairs in the middle of the night and was able to open it quickly in the dark after just waking up. Luckily it was just the cat knock stuff the counter. I like that code can have multiple buttons so the it is impossible to break the code. For example, the four entry code might be 2; 2 and 3; 1 and 4; then all 4. Upon opening it spring loads open with a light on. It is battery operated but we also have ours plugged in. there is a spare key hidden nearby. It comes with ability (but not the hardware) to be bolted in to the wall or whatever surface it is on. the top shelf is plastic and so cut a piece of foam fabric and slid it in, which makes it a lot nicer for the top level. ... show more

    • Perfect for my needs
I already own the GV1000-DLX and love it. When I considered buying the GV1000 a couple years ago, I thought about getting this bigger one (GV2000), but didn't. Wish I had! Now I am using the GV2000C-DLX and will probably sell my GV1000. I have this bolted down next to my bed. It easily would hold 4 handguns without them touching. One thing the description isn't clear about, is the "DLX" version comes with a AC power adapter. You still should put the 8 AA batteries in it in case of power failure though (Batteries not included). I find this to be fairly strong gun box. I suppose a determined bad guy could break in if he worked at it. However, my bigger concern is grandkids, other visiting children, and "nosey" others. This will most certainly keep them out. Good price ($122), free shipping, and I feel a quality product. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again! UPDATE: I have had this safe for about 6 weeks now. So far, so good. No issues. I open it nearly everyday without any problem. Guess I got a "good" one based one what I read with many other reviews. ... show more

Good safe. I keep two pistols in this safe. It is very spacious. Plugs into the wall as the primary source of electricity. It does use a 9 battery as a back up on the event the power goes off. There is also a key in case of emergency and you can't get the safe open. There is a light inside the safe that comes on when the door opens. Using the safe is great. The buttons are easy to find in the dark. There is an audible sounds when the buttons are pushed. This can be disabled. The door is spring loaded and opens fast.     • ELECTRONIC DOOR SWITCH BROKE WITHIN 1 HOUR
Looks like I am in the exact same boat as approximately %50 of the reviews I have read on this product, But I am so happy with the general design that I am willing to take a chance and just try a replacement as I had the exact same problem as everyone else with the electronic lock not opening after just sitting and opening and closing it to see if what everyone was complaining about was going to happen to the one I just got, well it did after about just 20 times opening and closing it, however I love the desing, I like the light as it is dim enough to not alert or wake anyone but bright enough to see what you need to inside the box at night, I like that the door swings down quickly to open, though the spring that opens it is WAY to strong without an inertia dampner like you see on screen doors and such that slow down the swinging open door, you basically have to hold the door closed when you unlock it so the door dosent swing open so hard that it destroys the hinges, like I am sure it would after 20 times of opening it and letting it swing open at full force. The removeable shelf inside makes it too small inside and not enough room to quickly rummage through there and get what you need, for me anyway so I decided to use it without the removeable shelf and it still holds two hand guns and a dozen magazines easily. It trully is an excellent design for what it is intended (mostly keep kids out as you could break into it with the slightest leverage from a crow bar I am sure.) But it still serves the purpose I need it for exactly, at least if the electronic lock would open. So I am going to simply try a replacement BECAUSE I REALLY WANT THIS THING TO WORK AS ADVERTISED, because if it does dependably and consistently then I could not be happier with the design and function, but it must be dependable, so I will update this review upon receipt of the replacement one they are going to send me. This product is the exact same one at Turners Outdoorsman, but a lot less expensive, it arrived in just 3 or 4 days with the free super shipper savings and there was not even any tax, so of course Im going to order from Amazon instead of paying $50 more localy at a store here. And the packaging was actually pristine, not a scratch or dent on the box or packaging, looked factory perfect, I just cant believe that I got one that the electronic lock stopped working on in less than a half hour, but thats why I just sat there and opened and closed it over and over was to see if it would stop working like others described and sure enough the lock stopped working but the electronic light still comes on when the correct combination is input and the door is opened allready for you to see the light come on when you enter the code, So what I am deducting from this scenario is that the electronics are obviously fine but its the MECHANICAL SELENOID that pops the lock open that does not work, hopefully they will fix this manufactures defect on the product in general, all they would have to do is read the reviews to see whats inherently wrong with their design and simply redesign that portion of the lock box, just the selenoid that mechanically opens the lock when the code is entered, that is the weak link in the chain of this product and seems like an easy fix, but well see when I get my replacement gun safe. ... show more
