Nothing but praise for this product. I believe that this Kodiak gun safe is the best value out there in this product segment. It was easy to program and has worked flawlessly ever since. The padded shelves are easy to configure and re-configure to meet changing needs. It came with 3/8" concrete anchors that I upgraded to 1/2", but that's just me. If you are installing the safe in your garage or basement, it's best if you have low-pile carpeting on the floor. This allows you to slide the 385# safe around the room while you pick the perfect location and mark & drill your concrete anchors. The other option is furniture sliders but they will be a lot more work. I also recommend you install a humidity gauge (get a magnetic one you can stick on the inside of the door) and go with an electric de-humidifier rod. This will insure worry free, perfect humidity. You definitely need to make this decision up front because it will impact your choices for location since you will have to have an electric cord coming out near the bottom of the safe and, of course, the safe will need to be near an electrical outlet. I went with the reusable canister de-humidifiers. They work fine but you have to keep an eye on your humidity gauge and periodically bake them in your oven for 6 hours to remove the moisture and reactivate them. I wish I knew then what I know now because my safe is literally mounted in concrete and I no longer have access to the small hole at the bottom designed for an electrical cord. One final piece of advice that is relevant to ALL gun safes. They will not hold the number of long guns they say. Period. There are 15 notches per side in the padded, permanent top shelf for long gun barrels, however, there's no way you will be able to fit 15 long guns in there. The attached photo shows my safe with 17 long guns stored right now. I figure I might be able to get 3 more in for a total of 20. Maybe. Please also note that all of my long guns are stored in silicone gun socks to eliminate corrosion, however, they also allow me to squeeze lots of long guns in a tight space together without scratching or dinging them. Once again, I emphasize that this is not a defect in Kodiak gun safes, this is typical of everything in this space. Bottom line, if you think you want to eventually store 30 long guns in your safe, purchase a gun safe with at least a 50 long gun capacity. ... show more

    • Arguably the best safe on the market today for the money

I spent a long time. I mean a very long time, evaluating gun safes. From the cheap cabinet styles we see everywhere, to the more advanced security cabinets with integrated storage systems, to conventional fire-rated safes from Cabelas, Harbor Freight, etc. The common argument I would hear in favor of the lighter cabinets was that anyone who wants to, can pry open most safes with a breaker bar and, if they're committed, a thief can use an angle grinder to cut into anything. So, it follows, the 'security' of heavier safes is a ruse and one should go with something lighter and more tactical. But after research what I found is that, while it's true thieves can use power tools, that's really much less common. Power tools take time, generate heat and smoke and for any decent safe it's an insane amount of work and pre-planning. More commonly, thieves will use a simple breaker bar to pry open a safe. The simple cabinets wouldn't last a pry attempt for more than 30 seconds. Larger commercial safes have video after video of them being broken into in under 5 minutes (sometimes in under a minute) with a pry bar. But, not the Kodiak. It has a fantastic locking mechanism, SafeX that makes it virtually impossible to pry it open. This thing is a beast. It is solid and opens and closes smoothly. There's something very satisfying about operating it. Unlike cheap safes, this only has an electronic lock. The Securam lock is EMP-rated and will last for years and is fully supported and warranted. The lack of a key removes the other great weakness of cheap safes which is that most of those locks can be easily picked with only minimal skill. (just watch a few Lock Picking Lawyer videos). You also have the option of purchasing an upgraded keypad from Securam with options such as backlighting, Wi-Fi, fingerprint, multiple users and so forth. So, this really is future-proofed. As one review noted, the racks are a little higher than I would like to better support shorter rifles, but it wasn't a surprise and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. The safe also has a small hole in the back which you can use to drill through the fire board and electrify the safe if desired. With 4 mounting holes on the bottom, once you bolt this to the ground it is not going anywhere and your valuables are outrageously secure. I challenge anyone to find a better safe at this price point. I can only imagine how much better their more expensive safes would be. While shipping is generally a separate review, I have to acknowledge that Rhino provided free (!) shipping from across the country for an item weighing over 350 lbs. with lift gate delivery to my driveway. And it arrived well packaged and in spotless condition. The company tech support has been great (they are sending me some touch up paint due to some moving scratches we caused) and are just a pleasure to work with. You can stop researching gun safes.     • Nice and roomy inside and just fits our space.
We love the safe and the delivery driver was awesome. He made sure we were able to handle the safe and get it in our home perfectly. The packaging was great. There was a little dent on the metal, but we could see that is was not going to be a problem. The package did not have any tears or dents, so it must have happened at the factory. The Safe is Amazing, Prompt Delivery. The Safe is as solid as a tank. Holds all my weapons, magazines and gear on shelves perfectly and plenty of room for more. Easy to follow instructions and set lock with no problem. best safe i have every bought. worth every penny. Safe is poorly made. Door does not line up correctly, more gap at top than bottom. When door is locked you can raddle, not a tight fit with lock bolts into side of safe. Selves were cut to fix,, too large did not allow to fit between self brackets. Combo dial poorly installed method, easy to fall off, when I received, dial hanging by important cable. Bad packing.
