I've had it a week and it's already saved me $$$.
I love this thing. Found my cat in an attic space and also located a leak in my kitchen wall when trying to figure out how it worked without reading the extremely easy instructions. Don't point it at people or you'll be cringing every time you look at them for the next week.

Thermal camera
It came in a secure package, works as it should

Easy
Being a home owner can be a pain sometimes. Got this thermal imaging to make sure my vents were blowing cold during this summer, and check my attic for any leaks. It works great, is super portable and is able to very easily tell me what I’m looking for.

Useful Inspection Tool with Clear Thermal Imaging
I received this item neatly enclosed in a box that offers plenty of protection, ensuring that the thermal camera is received in excellent condition. Inside the box is the thermal camera, charging cable, wrist strap, and user materials. After reviewing the product information, everything appears to be included as shown in the product description. I have used thermal cameras before for finding temperature differences, and I like that this one combines several useful inspection features into a compact device. The thermal imaging display makes it easier to identify areas with unusual heat patterns, while the thermometer mode provides a more specific temperature reading when needed. The different inspection modes are also helpful because they simplify setup for common uses like HVAC, electrical, and insulation checks. The AI scene detection is a nice addition because it helps highlight possible problem areas instead of requiring the user to interpret every image manually. The handheld design is lightweight and comfortable to use, and the long battery life makes it practical for longer inspections. Unfortunately though, the significant fluctuation in price on this product concerns me. From the time I ordered this to just a few weeks in the future the price has dropped by 25%, which is a $50 change in a very short time. When there is this much of a price drop, I tend to question the quality of an item, and this results in a one-star rating deduction. Overall, this is a versatile thermal imaging camera that provides useful features in a portable design. I have enjoyed using it so far, and I look forward to continuing to use it in the future. ... show more

Identify the source of the problem with a thermal camera
GT16S Thermal Imaging Camera with Smart AI Scene Detection I really like this thermal camera. Aim the device, and you get a thermal image and the internal computer shows you the high, low, and center temperature. You don't have to go hunting for that info. The other day I was walking barefoot in my house and I felt a warm spot in the floor. I pulled out this thermal imaging camera, aimed it at the floor and I followed a warm line across the living room and crossing under a wall into the bathroom. It was the hot water line coming from the basement, across the house and going to the shower. I can aim it at the ceiling and see all the rafters in the ceiling and at a wall and see the studs in the wall (because of temperature difference, not because it sees through walls). You can also use the trigger to capture images you can later download via a USB-C port (also used for charging the device). In the attached image: Lower left is a microwave that is vented into the garage then out the roof. Above the microwave is a hot spot where heat is coming down the vent to the roof back into the microwave. Above and to the right of the microwave (in the corner) is a hot spot where the roof line meets the kitchen ceiling. That spot is 86.7degrees F while the adjoining wall is 80.6 degrees. I'll be using this to find leaks around my 25 year old windows. It is an expensive tool, but one of my bedrooms this past winter was 52 degrees F while the rest of the house was 69 degrees. I needed to figure out why that is. Using this tool I discovered that most of the cold was coming in right at the ceiling where an attic roof vent is located under the eve. Changing out the windows is not going to solve that problem. It's easy to use, battery life is very good. It charges via USB-C. It's small enough to fit in you pocket. I think image quality is very good. There are slightly better priced hand held imaging cameras like this, but this one does a good job if your looking for thermal differences. So, before you start spending money on expensive upgrades, spend a little on a thermal camera so you fix the right problem. Before spending money on a remodel, identify the source of the problem with a thermal camera Update: I've now reviewed 6 different thermal cameras. Price range has been from $400 to $199. There are settings to change the color of the image called "Thermal Pallets". I don't understand how these are useful UNLESS they are for someone with a color blindness. So having other color screens might be useful. All 6 thermal cameras have slightly different features and very slight screen size difference but ALL ARE BASICALLY THE SAME, including the $400 model. SO........ unless you're done research of some kind the $200 Imaging Camera is no better than the $400 model. If you really need a particular feature then you need to understand that going in and make sure the camera you purchase has that feature. ... show more

expensive, relative to what it is
Pro's first: it works, and the absolute temperatures are withing 2-3 degrees of my calibrated infrared for household surfaces where I have confidence in the emissivity. This unit also has a very physical look & fit/finish to it. I am unfortunately not that impressed with the image quality - as above it certainly works (eg usb charger pic) for obvious things - but it was nearly unable to discern rafters through my lathe/plaster ceiling (last pic). Meters in the same resolution as this claims to be interpolated to do a better job. Perhaps the interpolation just doesn't really accomplish much. Also, i would not buy this based on the stated 120x120 resolution - it is most likely the more common 120x90 as are other super cheap meters. Which brings me to my last point, this isn't exactly super cheap. One can have a Project Farm best-value for significantly less, and there are many on the market for ~2/3 this price or less. ... show more

Great tool for remodelers!
I am in the process of finishing my attic into living space. Anyone who has ever been in an attic in the middle of summer knows just how hot it can get. Temperatures in the 130-140 degree Fahrenheit range are not out of the ordinary - so ensuring that my insulating is done correctly is essential. To make matters a bit ore complicated for me, I have a couple of gabled roofs that intersect the main roof. This means some sections of the main roof are actually interior spaces while adjacent to them are exterior spaces. One could take the approach of just insulating the entire underside of the main roof - but that would limit the space I have available for storage, and I would be spending money on expensive insulation that isn't needed. This thermal camera has been a tremendous tool for verifying that I am insulating only the exterior sections of my main roof. The thermal imaging camera is very easy to use, once you realize that the image that is displayed is actually a bit higher than what you may think you are pointing at. I spent just a little time going through the settings menus and was quickly able to determine how to set the imaging distance to how far away I typically would be from the roof surfaces I was interested in. The image on the screen is very clear, and the screen is large enough to easily read the various temperatures being displayed. The high, low and center-of-image temperatures are displayed all the time, which is very useful. There is the ability to take pictures, which isn't really something I need - but it was fun to play around with. I suspect that a professional contractor would have more use for that feature than I do, since pictures would be valuable to add to a quote for work. The battery life is impressive. After fully charging it upon receiving the tool, I've used it a great deal and have had no need to recharge it yet. While not inexpensive, the tool isn't priced at all higher than I feel it should be. The plastic shell of the tool does concern me a bit, as I think it could easily break if dropped from a ladder. But, for the price asked and given the excellent operation of this tool, I see it as a terrific value for money. ... show more
