  • this machine will need lots of work to be even close to useful for basic projects
let start by saying that the folks at Grizzly are very helpful in replacing broken or damaged items. If you get this machine know that you will need to have a way to 'fix' issues , a real machine shop with a Mill , surface grinder , and lathe will be needed to work the SLOP out of the table ,vice. Expect several days of rework to get in some kind of position to do ballpark work. the bolt that holds mill head in place does not hold rigid enough for the smallest , lightest of cuts . The tool post will need work as well, or replaced , the holder sits too low and is not adjustable ,shims are welds will be needed to get it to be where it needs to be . the lathe is by far the best part of the machine , the heads turns true enough and RPMs are good for most material, keep in mind that large cuts will not work out very well. The worst part is the Mill head . In order to almost reach the vise you will need to run quill all the way out , and this makes the ridged part even worse , as for the most part shorter is always better , but with this build you just wont be able to keep things stubby . the only fix for this if to raise vise up, way up in fact , and this makes the lash in the table even worse . unless your are willing to take the time to address this problems , do not get this machine, if you are , then have at it ,its become a challenge to try and get this thing to perform as it should , have fun ... show more

  • Good overall
I like the drill/mill combination. I'm not altogether crazy about he screw hand drive being on the end and there are no positive stops on the calibration dials for the cross slide, saddle, or the tail stock. Just something I'll have to get used too. Overall a good investment for the money.

  • Good Tool For Hobbyist
I had seen several online youtube videos on this product before buying. I am not a machinist by any stretch of the imagination. It arrived in one piece and it seems to work.

  • Grizzly Lathe/Mill G4015Z
I have been using this machine for 8 years and it has been worth every penny I paid for it. I have used it to create up to 112 threads per inch, and to mill dozens of aluminum enclosures for microwave electronics. I have used it to work with steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and even plastic. I have used it to machine very small connector components. It has some drawbacks, in having some slop, but it can be worked around. I had a motor failure which turned out to be the starting capacitor, and easy fix. I had a bearing failure in the upper drive belt tensioner, which was replaced with off-the-shelf components obtained locally. It currently has a slight leak in the seal on the lathe spindle, but not serious. I have used it extensively so I am not surprised at this leak. I have purchase replacement parts, but have yet to repair it. In summary, I am quite happy with it. Mike in Anchorage. ... show more
