I've been a machinist for 25 years and sharpen tools every day. This gouge is GREAT quality. Straight 45-50 degrees is perfect for this tool. I use it only for roughing, but it's now my favorite for roughing square stock and quickly turning diameters down.

Arrived on time. Haven't tried it out yet. Noticed a good amount of rust across a few parts but the photo showed a big portion of it. Hoping it doesn't affect the integrity of the handle. Update.. works fine just a little rusty.

When I opened the package I found the top cap of the plastic tube was off and one corner of the gouge had a ding, like it had been dropped or hit something hard. Had to regrind it to remove the ding before I could use the tool. Other than that, I'm very happy with the tool.
