As a beginning woodturner I am learning how to properly use the tools, so you can expect that I have had several occasions where I have had catches and tools chattering on the rest. None of these ( which a couple were fairly brutal) resulted in any deformation or damage to the contact surface of the rest. Product was nice and straight, with a nice smooth finish that allows me to glide my hand along it with out any friction or catches. Holds up strong and has proper groove for finger placement. Had to buy this to replace the cheap kind that came with the lathe and snapped within seconds of use. I am pleased this one actually works as intended.

Fits my Nova Comet II and is more rigid than I expected, quite nice especially at this price. Would definitely recommend if you need a 12" rest with 5/8 post. Makes spindle turning much nicer than the short rest that came with the lathe.

The media could not be loaded. Be aware that this advertises as 1". Which it is not. Actually slightly smaller than what would be considered a 25mm (.984") post rod. So this will NOT fit lathes like the Robust American Beauty, Powermatic 3520 A, B & C, Oneway 2436, Laguna 18/36 & 24/36, Harvey T60 (of which I have the Laguna 24/36). Ordered it, and now I have to return. If it doesn't specify precisely 25.4mm when it is in metric, do not order for the above mentioned lathes. ... show more

I don’t spend a lot on my turning tools yet and I needed a curved tool rest with longer arms to reach inside of a bowl. I more chatter from my tools or stressed out nerves as I try to keep the tool steady. I have this one and the straight 6” tool test from this seller.
