Description
The RIKON 70-800 4-Piece Woodturning System combines a 16" machined aluminum handle with three interchangeable steel shafts fitted with round, square and diamond tungsten-carbide insert cutters. The carbide cutters retain their cutting edges longer than typical carbon or high-speed steel tools and can be rotated to expose a fresh edge when one side becomes dull. The handle features an anti-vibration grip and forward collet-style chuck for changing shafts without separate tools. Each 8-3/8" steel shaft has a flat bottom and two side bevels for added stability against the tool rest. The complete system stores in a fitted presentation box and includes the cutter mounting hardware and T20 wrench.

My first set of tools!

I did my research, and watched many videos. Being a beginner turner I wanted a set of wood turning tools that would last my a life time. Plus I do not have a bench grinder, nor the room for one. So after reviewing many carbide tool sets I decided to go with the Rikon. Not just because I have a Rikon lathe, but because of the quick change feature. Sure I can buy individual carbide tools with handles on them, but that would be super pricey. The Rikon set is affordable, and very easy to use. I love these tools, and they work good. Change out between cutting bits is fastened easy. They have a nice weight to them, and you can add weight if you want to. Rikon has very nice support for this tool set. I would recommend these for the seasoned to the newb.

Quality tools Pleased as punch

These are great tools. I especially like how easy it is to switch out from one cutter tip to another one. It literally takes seconds and it's hmmmm... enjoyable to do. That may sound a bit strange, but the machining is so nice and the fit so good that it just gives me a feeling of satisfaction to swap cutters out. It's like a well fitting drawer that just glides into place effortlessly and perfectly. Makes you want to open the drawer and shut it again- just because. These tools are a great addition to any wood turners collection of tools. I made four cherry table legs out of 4" stock and they (the tools) performed quite well. Nice work RIKON, thanks.

Not sure you can find a better tool for the price. I have cut everything from punky wood to stabilized wood to resin. It has not let me down once. A very heavy duty tool with a comfortable grip. Came in a new little box to keep it clean and dry. For sure is worth every penny spent. You will not be disappointed.

Nice full size tool set with quick change feature

Quality tool that I think will last. The carbide tips are pretty nice. My diamond came with a chipped tip on one side but its revearsable so it's ok. These cut the bowls I turned with them quite smoothly. Its large and has a good weight to it. Comes in a nice fancy box so it would make a nice gift. I wish it came with more tips cause I noticed mine got kinda dull after two bowls turned but I hear you can sharpen these with a diamond stone with ease but havent down it yet to confirm how easy it actually is. I was worried this would be a pain to change from tool to tool but it's super fast. I can change my tool out in about 10 seconds litterally

Awesome! If you want a beefy carbide set you can’t go wrong with this one! 100$ less than Woodcrafts price. Love the easy tool and tip change capability. The handle is soft and comfortable. Cutters are sharp out of the box.

I always wanted carbide turning tools but didn't want to buy three. This kit uses one handle and that concerned me until I tried it. Very easy quick release. A fast partial turn and pull to remove and an easy push and turn to tighten. Super easy! Handle weight and grip is quality. tool shaft very sturdy. Easy adjustment to turn the carbide tip to a fresh position. Comes in decent box for storage. Highly recommend.

I’ve bought two of these sets now. Loved the first set so much I gave them to my father to learn lathe work. Bought a second set for myself when I got back home. I find these carbides to be the best value in large-scale tools. They are heavy and well made. Love the quick change feature blades are sharp and easy to install a month later- still love it. rapid adjustments, solid bar, great length. Turning 12" bowls in hard and softwood is a breeze- feels like cheating. Price for the product is worth every bit- thinking about getting another to have 3 more different blade tips for more versatility. Highly recommend.
