Worth it!!!!

I moved up to this one after having a smaller 18” greenworks mower. This thing is a beast. I love the self propelled option since I’ve had several back surgeries. It makes mowing much easier and I’m done in half the time! I have a decent size yard (.26 acres) and it does the whole thing on one battery and sometimes uses a tiny bit of the back up battery (you have to purchase that separate, but it holds both and switches to the back up when all the power from the first one is used, without you having to stop!) it gives a nice even cut, and I also like that it has a turbo option that helps with large thick patches of grass or weeds even. Highly recommend!! Definitely buy the backup battery, you’ll get at least 2 hrs of mowing and that with using the self propelled and turbo too!

Good Mower
Size: 25" Self-Propelled (4.0Ah)
Likes: electric, quiet, no gas, variable speed self-propelled, wide width, holds two batteries. The cut is as good as other mowers. Batteries are very fast charging, a plus for bigger yards. Extra blades are readily available. Dislikes: I *need* two batteries for less than half an acre poroperty, there are plastic parts where I'd prefer were metal, such as on levers for the self-propelled and deadman's switches. Extra batteries are priced too high. I went with a 3rd party battery that had more capacity and was half the price. More evpensive than gas mower but hoping the lower cost of electric charging versus gasoline evens that out. Like all mowers: If you use the bag, be prepared to empty it when full, which will depend on the height of your grass. If you don't empty, it will start to bog down on the grass clippings that are building up. This will waste battery power. Gas mowers are the same. Longevity is unknown. A typical cheap gas mower will last many years. Will this one? Unknown.

You'll need more battery than you think

Update Aug ‘25: Been mowing my Bermuda lawn all summer and this mower has been great. It will clog/stall on very wet grass but you can use turbo to power through. For my 1/2 acre I still use a little over 1 battery sometimes 1.5, 4-amp batteries depending on height of grass. Conclusion: Buy it and get a second 4-amp battery April ‘25: Just bought this mower to replace 10+ year old Husqvarna gas mower that's seen better days. I already had other Greenworks 80v products like the trimmer/blower so wanted to get something that also had 80v compatibility. I have 1/4th to 3/8ths acre of Bermuda grass on a relatively flat property, very minor elevation changes. One brand-new, fully charged, 4.0AH battery will make it 90% of the way through this using the self-propel on medium speed with mulching. I'm guessing their advertised 3/4 acre isn't using the self-propel feature? Anyhow, I bought a second 4.0AH battery and I surmise over time I'll need to use that one more and more as the batteries degrade. The first mow of the season was rough because the grass was high (and wet) and the mower will stop itself from overheating every minute or every really tall patch. On the second mow which was bone dry and a bit lower, the mower performed very very well with no stops whatsoever and zoomed right through the grass. The width of this thing makes mowing much much faster. I would highly advise anyone that is looking to use this on 1/2 acre property to get another battery. Overall, I'm still glad I made the purchase.

Broken within two mows, not worth the price

It was delivered to me clearly dinged up, the blades couldn’t even spin because the casing for the mower was dented in and I had to grind the casing down to even get it to start. The battery is abysmal and even when buying an extra battery it’s still not enough to mow my 1/3rd acre yard, plus the batteries charge fast enough that they’re surely degrading much faster than something like your phone battery. The lawn mower is already broken because I hit the small part of a stump and instead of having proper bearings that would break and be fixable like with a gas mower, there will simply be a break of some electrical component that has completely bricked my $500 lawn mower. Never buying greenworks again.

It's a great mower!

It's been not only a solid performing mower, it's very quiet, lighter than my 22" gas mower, and I don't smell like a refinery after filling and using it. My only knock is that it occasionally leaves clumps, but I haven't tried turbo mode when encountering heavier and wetter grass.

Quality mower, but it doesn’t quite cut it.

I was very happy that someone finally made a wide walk behind electric mower. I’ve been using a dual blade 30 inch gas mower for years and it really saved time mowing the lawn, but I wanted a wide electric mower so I could stop breathing the exhaust fumes. I thought this Greenworks 25 inch dual blade mower was the answer, but sadly it is not because it has a major design flaw. While the blades do overlap, they don’t actually cut the grass in between and it leaves a line of uncut grass in the middle of the row, see pictures, so you’re essentially just making a single pass of 2, 12 inch width cuts with a line of uncut grass in between. It takes even longer to cut the yard because you must go over each area twice. You’d be better off with a regular single blade mower, which of course defeats the purpose of a wider cut. Overall, though, I do think Green Works makes a quality product. The mower is very easy to maneuver, it cuts the grass well, even thick zoysia grass. The battery charges quickly, just a little over an hour for a full charge. And I can mow my entire yard of about 12,000 square feet on one charge. I recommend Greenworks in general, but I do not recommend this 25” dual blade mower.

Super powerful and efficient beast of a mower - Get it now!

This is my second greenworks mower. I upgraded from a 5 year old 21 in self propelled mower. I am extremely glad I upgraded. I am super happy with this 25 in mower. I'm not sure why folks have issues with battery life. I have a 1/4 acre (11,000 sq.ft) lawn. I bag my clippings AND I drag a heavy lawn striping roller behind. I cut at setting 5 and mow once a week. I installed two batteries, but the mower only consumes 1/2 of one battery per session. I do not have any clogging issues either. I LOVE the wider pattern compared to the 21 inch deck. It used to take 45 minutes with the 21 in and now I'm somewhere around 30 minutes for 1/4 acre at setting 5. Remember that we are only supposed to cut the top 1/3rd for optimal growth. This IS A BEAST of a machine and the self propelled function is very - maybe too- sensitive. With the older model, I used to mow at the fastest traverse (rabbit) and I started that way with this machine and it took off!! I mow around 30% speed for controllability. I have attached some photos of my setup and the lawn. I got it at the sale price. Grab one when it comes back in stock.

4 weeks in... seeing some problems.

*EDIT* Where did my power go? I'll leave the previous review below, but I'm 4 weeks in, and three mows, and it's continuously stalling and beeping on the smallest of clogs, and the battery seems to have about 1/2 the capacity. I'm now past the first mow of the season and so, these are relatively easy going trims. It just can't bag it any more. And once it stalls and I flip over, there's rarely anything really clogging. Usually just a soft, in process, tuft of grass. Is it perhaps very sensitive of any kind of bag 'fullness'? Something I could have missed on the first mow due to it not being able to get to the bag due to it's length? This is everything I was concerned over a battery powered tool. Lack of power, and the batteries being a constant burden. 3 mows... Out of my return window... This thing is going to be an anchor within a year. ---- Original review. This thing was my first step away from gas powered mowers. Specifically, a Toro at your pace 6.75HP 22" mower. The electric mower has far more power. I love how it can be powered with the cutters off, and it's considerably lighter than my Toro. The Toro seemed to be having problems in spring when it came to start up again. I was on carb number 3, and while it would start up, it just didn't seem to ever be quite right. Over the 15 years I've owned it, I've replaced numerous loose bolts and auto chokes, etc... Fuel lines... Oil changes. Ugh. It's been quite a pet hate thing, but one I felt had no avoidance to... Until battery tools started getting to a point of having enough power. The GW has more power than the Toro. I know the blades are shorter, but that wider, yet shallower cut means the 25" cut extends to over both wheels in the middle of the deck, more like a ride on mower, and so doesn't pointlessly lose any cutting width. What I mean by this is it's a true 25" of cutting availability, not slightly less than technically advertised. Really, no complaints. It's so light it's easy to unclog if it gets choked up. I don't have to worry about oil, so you can just flip it onto it's side and deal with the problem. I thought at first the bag was smaller, but I then noticed it's actually much wider at the back, so the shortness is actually an advantage as you don't kick it as you walk. It folds up and has a huge grab handle to move it into a corner of my garage, something the Toro couldn't do. I suddenly have a free gas mower if anyone wants one :D The only ever so slight negative I found... I was always worried about drive lag, as I'd heard electric could have this. I find this one doesn't, but it has a slight gap between when you let off the rear wheel drive to when it actually releases the wheels. If you mow right up to something the wheels won't disengage. You have to release the drive earlier than expected, and free wheel up to an object. That way the wheels are unlocked for you to pull the mower back. If you don't you have to brute force drag it back (something the much heavier gas mower needed continuously mind you, so I'm not even that bothered by it.) I feel this is more of a quirk, and something I can simply get used to to avoid, or continue brute forcing the (much lighter mower anyway) out of stuck spaces. 5 out of 5. It's great.
