  • Great, powerful mower.
Size: 21" (4.0Ah) Self-Propelled
Bought the 80 v with 4ah battery, self propelled. Super easy to start out of the box, no assembly. Folding handle is a nice feature for storing and especially cleaning. I have a half acre of mixed weeds, mostly grass, some mustard etc. unfortunately I let it get out of control this year, knee high in areas, my riding mower stopped working last year and I dragged my feet choosing this mower. Soooo. It performed great. Lots of power. Stalled twice due to thick grass but so does my riding mower. I developed a technique of tilting back at 45 degrees for high grass then went over it forward and back. Most areas over 8 inches needed mowing back and forth, moving along at six feet at a time, didn't use the self propelled feature at all. The mower is very light. Under six inches no problem at all. The battery lasted about 30 minutes, charged in under an hour . Because of high thick weeds I had to do this five times for my half acre even without using self propel which I presume saved battery life but if mowing grass under six inches (next time!) I expect it would do most of the half acre on a charge. I'm 68 And retired so I didn't mind waiting for the battery to recharge. Definitely recommend. Consider an extra battery. ... show more

  • First impressions, I’m impressed
Size: 21" (4.0Ah) Self-Propelled
Delivered packed and protected well. Assembly was minimal and easy - pull the rubber plugs out of the arms and attach the control bar. I’m comparing this to my nearly 10 year old sears Briggs & Stratton, that still runs. The green works is lighter, has a faster self propel(which is so nice), quieter, and cuts just as well, if not better. I have a patch of grass that grows thicker that bogged it down, does the same to my Briggs & Stratton. When I put it in turbo mode it ran through it fine. It took a minute to get used to the rear wheel self-propel but that’s all. I also appreciate how you can flip it on its end to clean out, much easier than a gas mower. Overall, I’m impressed at how well this cut and how easy it was to maneuver. I cut my front hard and still had 3 bars (my front yard is double from what the picture shows). Hopefully it continues to perform this well. I’ll address my review if it drops in performance. After one mow, 5 stars. ... show more

  • Operates more effectively than the self-propelled gas mower.
Size: 21" (4.0Ah) Self-Propelled
This is my first battery powered mower! After about 8 weeks of use, I am happy with the purchase. It works well. The 80 V self-propelled mower is quite powerful but admittedly, my lawn is flat. Also, the battery lasts for almost a 1/4 acre but it charges quickly so it is not too much of an inconvenience. On the highest speed setting, the mower almost drags me around the yard. I appreciate not inhaling gasoline fumes in the heat and humidity of summer. The bagger feature works great. The only negatives are that the plastic handle that raises and lowers the mower height is flimsy and breaks easily, so be careful to either tape it before use or make sure that it doesn't rub or scrape anything like the fence. Also, the side discharge guide falls off frequently. Still, this is a great mower. ... show more

  • Out of the box and mowing!
Size: 21" Mower (4.0Ah)
This review is for the Greenworks item # 250 1202, Model# 250 1202, 80V Ultra Power Pro 21" push mower purchased on March 8 2025. The box came in good condition. I pulled out the charger and battery, put the battery on charge, went to dinner with wifey for about an hour and a half. On return, I put the handle bar together, tilted the box up and rolled out the mower. I adjusted the height, checked the battery power level, put in the battery, started it and ran it over the grass in mulch mode in bout 20 minutes. NO GAS, NO OIL. I don't care if I have to buy a new one in two years (at the price I paid). Not messing with gas and oil (and ITS QUIET and LIGHT), is well worth it to me. It's so light I'm glad I didn't buy the self propelled. If you are over 60 or have limited strength or tire easily, I would get the self propelled. I wasn't planning to do it, but the mower is such a pleasure to push, I mowed the rest of the front yard. I would still recommend taler wheels for pushing. The ability to just put in a battery and go is so wonderful. I intentionally waited a few years for these electric mowers to get good and reliable, and for my gas mower to get a little closer to the grave, to take the cordless plunge. I think the time is just right. We are in a place where the mowers are capable and still simple. I can see the 2025 season of GW mowers becoming overly adorned with plastic cosmetics and overcomplicated in hand controls. The one I chose is perfect. I had found the magic formula for making a gas mower easy to start and run well, its TruFuel. That gas is amazing and I encourage everyone to use it in their gas equipment. My Cub Cadet lasted for ten years and still has compression after using TruFuel exclusively for the last five years. If you have a generator or other motor, for storage, drain it, run TruFuel in it and drain it. Your motor will start next season. BUT, TruFuel is expensive at $25/ gallon. That is about $100 of gas a season in my gas mower. It's money and hassle Ive saved not taking it to the repair shop to unclog gas varnish or replace carburetors. The four star rating is for build. I think the deck gage could be thicker, the push bar hinges could be beefier, the handle bar could be square, not canted angles. Good points are the wheels and axles are solid. The controls are kept simple, something I think other models with multiple trigger levers, is needing to re-engineer back to a more minimalist approach. A major reason I chose this model is it is about the last model with a single bail switch bar on the handle keeping the work space uncluttered. I cannot comment on the clippings bag because I haven't used it yet. I am skeptimistic about the bottom edge not having any latching to keep it from swinging open and dropping grass out the bottom. Perhaps the only time this will happen is when it's filled to capacity, which would be understandable. One user trick I would like to point out, that may have to be read in the user guide to learn (like me), is the operation of the bar release and angle position levers. They can be pulled and rotated 90˚to keep open while positioning. It can be a bit fiddly not knowing this trick. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. BUT! It's not HOT here yet and when it is, it's 100˚F days. We shall see how well the battery can tolerate the heat in that enclosed compartment. I may need a cooler backup battery on standby. I'm sure of one thing, the job will be much easier not dealing with the noise and gas. Update: this mower has exceeded my expectations in every way. It is able to cut tall grass and cut all around the house on a single battery charge. Only one time has the battery depleted before finish but it was an extremely thick mowing that used the high speed mode most of the time. The only complaint I have is the resistance sensor and speed adjustment have too much lag. I wish I had manual blade speed control. But this has not been a problem that prevents me from cutting the lawn. ... show more

  • Significantly stronger than the 40v option
Size: 21" Mower (4.0Ah)
I've been eyeing this mower for a while ever since my initial purchase of a Greenworks 40v 16" mower. I have a small yard and for the most part the 40v worked fine with a little patience and cutting on the middle height setting (3 of 5). I finally decided to upgrade during a prime day sale and got this beast for over 50% off. Initial impressions were this mower is significantly sturdier and feels like much higher quality parts were used. Although heavier, it's not unwieldy or difficult to throw around if needed. I went with the push version over the self propelled as that was not a feature that mattered to me, and I have no regrets. This mower is an absolute beast with plenty of power and cut down 6 inches of grass with ease and practically no clumping. The increased power and larger deck size cut my mowing time in half, and I can definitely recommend this purchase even at the normal price of just under $400 ... show more
