March 20, 2025: The mower is still working like a champ. First cutting of the year is done. The Greenworks weedeater I got last year is also working perfectly, right along with the electric pressure-washer I bought 6 years ago. I saved over $1600 in lawncare expenses & home maintenance projects last year. **I was not paid for this review** July 25, 2024: Sharing a little trouble-shooting info. If the battery gets overheated, the mower will just stop. I had this happen & I thought the battery needed recharging. If you pop the battery into the charger this way, you'll get the red indicator light. The battery simply needs to cool down first & then it will work again. I'm now storing the battery inside the house, not out in my garage in 90+° temps. Overheating it, as well as keeping it sitting on the charger 24/7, will eventually deplete it's capacity to hold a charge. Hope this helps. Update #2: The mower powered through a huge area of thick, knee-high grass in the backyard. First time cutting it this year. I also did the front at 7am & the grass was wet. Mower ran like a champ. After removing the battery, I tipped the mower on its side, cleaned the underside with a small putty knife, gently rinsed it with the garden hose & let it dry. Mower still works great. Update #1: Mower continues to perform very well. The battery is tricky to remove. It has a release button on it that has to be pressed down at the same time as it's pulled out. I put the handle of the mower up against the siding of my house & it keeps the mower from rolling as I get the battery out. OG Review: First time I've ever tried out any kind of battery operated yard equipment. I'm tired of paying the lawn guy to cut my entire yard when it's only the front area that needs to be consistently mowed. This mower arrived brand new in the box. I had trouble with the handle assembly & the two sets of cam locks because they don't tighten and clamp down the easiest. That took a few tries. The battery slides into the charger which blinks green when charging, and then stays solid green when charged. The battery clicks into the top of mower much the same way. The battery has a power indicator on it - press the small button on the end of the battery and there are 4 lights that show the amount of charge. Starting the mower is sooo easy. It takes about ~5 seconds to get it powered on & instructions on how to do so are printed on the mower by the starter button. If you need to stop the mower, release the bar. Stopping & starting the mower up a few times was no problem for me. The lever on the deck that adjusts the mower height moves easily and locks firmly into place. My first test run of this mower went well. I did my entire front yard and around the side of my house in 35-40 minutes with a battery that was still going strong. The mower will speed up if the grass is thicker & runs slower for less dense areas. I'm not using the grass catcher, so no idea how that hooks on or performs. What I really like is how lightweight the mower is and how quietly it runs. I doubt my neighbors across the street could even hear it. One important piece of info that I'll pass along. After watching a YT tutorial and review on this mower, it was recommended not to keep the battery sitting in the charger 24/7. Charge the battery just before use, recharge it again after and then take it off the charger & store it separately. Doing so extendss the life of the battery. Overall impression on this mower: Easy startup, runs super quiet, it's lightweight so that you hardly exert any energy pushing it along and it has a long-lasting battery charge. For me, this mower will pay for itself in just 3 uses (I got it on sale) and I'm excited to finally be able to cut back on yard expenses. I'm also thrilled that I don't have to be bothered with the fuss of fueling & and winterizing a gas-powered piece of equipment.

I've put this lawn mower through its ropes this year while maintaining my yard. I've used it on all 1-5 levels to manage different types of grass and weeds, and I use the bagger as often as I use the mulch feature towards that same goal. I usually cut 2" off my grass when I mow, and the single battery that came with it usually lasts about 1/8 of an acre. I haven't timed how long it takes to recharge the battery, but it's usually full again a few hours later on the same day. I like the fact this lawn mower is electric - no oil, no gas, no mess. It's really easy to start, the motor is reliable, and it's lightweight so easy to push and maneuver. I find it delivers a neat, clean cut on weeds as well as the lawn. I love the fact it's got a few different storage positions, I leave the lawn mower deck flat on the ground, but loosen and tilt the handles against the wall for more garage floor clearance. Overall, I'm really happy with the purchase.

Without a doubt the greatest plus for this mower is its weight. VERY lightweight, in my opinion almost too light weight. I say that because I find myself sometimes pushing down on the handle which too easily lifts the front of the mower, leading to an uneven cut. I have a second battery mower at a different location. It is an older model Ryobi which has a heavier deck and it does give a more even cut. BUT at age 75 I find the lightweight a plus overall. The fit of the battery is another adjustment you will need to make. The battery often needs a little extra push to securely slide into position. If your mower suddenly quits after only a few minutes of mowing.... check to see if the battery needs an extra tap to be in position! Now, removing the battery is definitely something you will need to work on. It fits snug and the size of the battery makes it impossible to remove one handed!. I have found two methods that work. First method is to fold the handle down in a forward position to hold open the plastic BATTERY COVER. The cover is spring loaded and will be in your way. Even then, you have to squeeze the release button and wiggle the battery with your strong hand while pushing down on the battery holder with your free hand. Seriously, it will take practice... or even another person! Now that I have mastered the correct "press and wiggle" I have found I can hold the spring loaded cover open with my right wrist while doing the press and wiggle with my right hand. Note to Greenworks... design an EJECT BUTTON to help with this issue. 40volt batteries are heavy! Another adjustment you will make is knowing how wide the cutting track is. 16" is just not that wide. BUT it is very useful if you need to mow in tight spaces. Since it is a 2in1 bagger or mulcher setup you have no side chute. A plus because you can mow in either direction and always get tight to things such as landscaping timbers. I find that very useful. What I still have not master is the correct width of the cut. The mower has a black round 'skirt' that covers the blade area. The black area is larger than the actual cut so it can fool your eye. The bagger is quite good. Far larger than my Roybi and the width fit easily into tall brown lawn bags. No surprise, "missed the bag" moments when emptying for street pickup. After awhile you will learn just the perfect fill level before dumping. Overfill the bagger and you will begin to see loose mulch. BTW for light trims mulching with or without the plug will work fine. One of my concerns is the BLADE. I am not convinced it is shipped with a high quality, sharp blade? After just two months I am considering replacing the blade. But I am afraid I would just get the same lightweight blade. I suspect it is part of the design to have a lightweight deck matched with a lightweight blade but it does make it feel toy-like. Which brings me to my final concern... The mower?, or blade? lacks the strong uplift you get from a gas mower! Not picking up the maple tree keys off a blacktop driveway is not reassuring. I really worry this mower will not be able to handle my early Fall leaves here in the Northeast. Sure, once all the leaves are down I know I will need to rake, etc. But mulching those early falling leaves has always kept my lawn looking nice. I doubt this mower will do that. Would I buy it again? Yes, especially at the sale price of $209. It is VERY convenient and the lightweight does makes it a winner for me.
