  • A good addition the Greenworks lineup, with a small annoyance
Size: Brushless Hammer Drill Style: 2.0Ah
I have been slowly building my Greenworks collection and have been really impressed so far. I didn't have a hammer drill, so I ordered this one. After using this for some time, I have come to appreciate the power of this drill. It has great torque for driving the toughest of screws or drilling. The extra torque in drive mode is appreciated and the less torque in drill mode is perfect. The clutch provided plenty of different settings to handle everything I threw at it. Usually with more power comes more noise. That's not the case here. It's powerful motor is very quiet for the work it's doing. The weight is about average for this type of drill and it feels nice in the hand. My only issue was that on occasion the drill bit would fall out of the chuck after some drilling. I found this happened more with smaller masonry bits on hammer mode. Other times it didn't do it. I made sure to really tighten the chuck and it minimized this happening. Overall I am very happy with this hammer drill. I deducted one star for the bits falling out of the chuck. ... show more

  • Well built and decent power for a medium-duty hammer drill
Size: Brushless Hammer Drill Style: 2.0Ah
Review of: **Greenworks 24V Brushless Cordless Hammer Drill Kit, 530 in./lbs Torque, 20+3 Position Clutch, 1/2 '' Keyless Chuck, Variable Speed, 1×2Ah Battery with 2A Charger, LED Light** I have a pretty extensive set of tools for DIY and home remodeling projects including various cordless drills and drivers, but did not have a small sized hammer drill. My full size hammer drill (used for breaking up concrete, removing thinset from floors, or drilling big holes into concrete) is just too big for using to drill holes into a concrete ceiling though, which was one of my recent projects. This Greenworks drill is very solidly built and feels comfortable in your hands when using it. It is not lightweight, but isn't too heavy to use it overhead or for long duration drilling. I have used it for a few small drilling and driving tasks, but my primary use is for drilling into concrete using the hammer drill setting. For this it worked quite well, except for the fact that my bit would repeatedly come loose from the chuck. Even after really tightening it down, the vibration from the hammering still seemed to cause it to come loose after a while. I was able to complete drilling the holes into the concrete, but it was pretty annoying to have the bit come loose over and over again. My one other complaint is the fact that they didn't include any sort of case with this kit, so I have to keep the drill, battery, and charger together some other way. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to have had a basic case come with the drill. Given the price ($110) and the minor issue with the chuck coming loose on my bits, I still like this drill and would recommend it if you have a use for the hammer drilling capability. For just a drill/driver, I would look at other options. ... show more

  • durable and beefy with plenty of torque
Size: Brushless Hammer Drill Style: 2.0Ah
i haven't owned a hammer drill before now, and I'm seriously wondering why? this has as much torque as a couple impact wrenches I've bought previously and it has a pretty respectable runtime. additionally it can also be used as a standard cordless drill, a plus in my book. so far I've used this to mount some anchors in masonry, drill through a few different hardwoods, screwed in a whole bunch of different stuff, and used the battery with my cordless greenworks vacuum. the body is a bit larger than a basic cordless drill because of the added hammer drill functions, but it doesn't feel off balance or overweight. the rubberized finish on the handle is great if your doing any work in the heat as its a bit more slip resistant than the rest of the body. despite the larger size i was able to use this comfortably for extended periods of time without extra hand fatigue. the biggest selling point for me is that there's a whole line of greenworks products that you can swap the battery into, i hate running out of juice midway through a project. ... show more

  • Good medium duty Hammer Drill for home use
Size: Brushless Hammer Drill Style: 2.0Ah
I consider myself reasonably handy when it comes to stuff around my home and more recently i was trying to drill some holes into my masonry fence for hanging some planters and a hose holder . And in this project the 24V hammer drill really excelled and provided the necessary hammering/biting force to drill into thick masonry bricks quickly. My other more compact 18V Craftsman drill was not able to do this job at all which the Greenworks made short work of. BUILD QUALITY - While certainly not contractor grade, the overall build quality is pretty good with rubberized plastic in the all the right areas .. grips and impact/high frequency areas. - The overall body is made of thick rugged plastic and does not feel cheap in any way - It does come with a metal belt clip as well - Due to its larger 24V architecture, it is bigger than the more compact 18 drills out there but what you get in exchange for the larger size is much more power for drilling brick walls that a smaller drill will not be able to PERFORMANCE - The key feature of this drill is of course its hammer drill functionality, and it performs very well which makes drilling thick bricks possible - The hammer drill is reasonably quiet as well - I did not notice any fade in terms of power or torque .. it was more than enough for all my home projects - The battery lasts a good deal of time as well and stays relatively cool under heavy loads - One thing i would like to point out is that for drilling masonry walls, its very important that you have good quality drill bits - specifically you need carbide tipped drill bits .. or you will just ruin your standard still steel tipped bits DISLIKES - There was no included dual sided driver bit or a place to hold it on the drill frame - something you find in most standard drills .. Almost all other brands give you atleast one complimentary drill or driver bit. But you get none with this , nor is there any space to store your own drill/driver bit for quick jobs FINAL THOUGHTS Overall this is a very good value for money hammer drill at a reasonable price which offers plenty of power, torque and hammering for most medium duty home uses . ... show more
