To begin with, I am a 62 year old woman with health issues. I have trouble walking because of a bad back, knees and ankles. I am in constant pain, but yard still has to be done. With rising costs, we could not afford to hire someone this last month and the grass was getting tall. I didn't want anything that required gas. I looked online and found this Weed eater in the warehouse deals and took a chance. It works great. I cut the front yard with it in morning until the battery goes dead (or I can't stand up anymore). Then I do the same in the evening in the back yard. It takes longer, but it is working and it is something we could afford. So glad I got it. Cons: Could have had clearer instructions. Battery life doesn't last for a long time. But that doesn't bother me, most of the time it lasts longer than I do. Pros: It is lightweight. Easy to assemble. Gets the job done.

I bought the tool only version. It said battery and charger not included. Apparently the spool of trimmer line also wasn't included. It does work well and people saying auto feed doesn't work may not understand its not tap to feel line. You let it completely stop and then start it. Do this a few times and it feeds line. Don't stop in manually let it stop on its own. You will hear a light click as it stops. And be sure spool isnt upside down. Also the quick release for the shaft to adjust length people have said gets loose. You have to adjust it a little with the 2 screws until it gets where you like it and then use quick release. If you read the directions and have a little common sense it works great..

I’m a newbie to trimming and wanted to get an electric one so I wouldn’t inhale gas fumes. I really like this trimmer, but I wish the battery lasted just a little bit longer. Notably, I may be unfairly comparing it to my Greenworks lawnmower that holds two huge batteries and lasts a very long time. It also may be due to my frequent stops and starts to fix the string (third party refill purchase, not greenworks). That constant starting and stopping may have worn out the battery length quicker than if I was able to keep the flow. Lastly, it is not strong enough to cut thicker kinds of string like a gas powered trimmer can, but I’m okay with that. Overall, when using a string that doesn’t cause me to stop and start frequently, I am happy with the performance.

I've had this trimmer since Aug 2021. The biggest issue is battery life. I don't know if i have a bad battery or what, but this thing does not last even close to 40 minutes. My experience is that the battery works fine for 15 minutes, and then starts to slow down. The RPMs on the trimmer go way down and then it might get a spurt of energy for a few minutes before slowing down again. I just edged my front yard and the battery only made it half way. You can't get a consistent cut at all. My suggestion is to look elsewhere, but again, my battery may be bad. I'm going to reach out to Green works to inquire further and will update my review afterwards. **UPDATE May 28, 2022 ** So Green works has approved a replacement trimmer. I received a new battery and it was the same issue. I had to take the trimmer and batteries to a local shop for a warranty review. Greenworks approved full replacement and I expect the new trimmer soon. My biggest issue? Customer service. It is terrible. I have spent at least 10 hours on hold / in queue waiting to speak with a live person. Typically it takes a few hours to get through, even with the call back option. This, and the fact that they promise to send you tracking info or to send an email and it never happens. I've been waiting in my new trimmer for over 4 weeks now (since I sent it tonthe shop for warranty review) and I have no clue when I'll get my replacement. It's seriously so bad that I'll never buy from Greenworks again.

It's been a long, long time since I bought anything on Amazon that was this big a disappointment. The batteries on the various models are not compatible. Apparently we are all supposed to know this already but they are all green and show the compatibility with so many other products. I thought my other battery would work but no! The voltage is different and the battery from my other Greenworks product is not compatible with this one. Buying a new battery appears to be more expensive than the unit itself. Buying a battery and the necessary charger appears to be more expensive than a new unit plus a batter and charger. I do not think this should be an Amazon recommended product because the other models appear much better. I wish Amazon had recommended one of the better versions before I selected this model. I will update this review when I get the new battery. UPDATE: I upgraded my review to three stars after using the trimmer with the battery. This is a good lightweight trimmer that is very helpful around my garden. I will use it and be happy for half hour at a time (the length of time the battery lasts for me). However the weeds that have gotten a little bigger by the mailbox laugh at this little trimmer. It is best for very lightweight duty or grass. Larger weeds tangle and cut the little plastic cord. This trimmer just can't chop the bigger weeds. Someday I hope to upgrade to the much stronger model. If I knew all of this before ordering, I would have just spent more money to get the more powerful unit and the bigger battery. I do like this Greenworks company and would buy more of their gear. I just wish it could be more clear between their various products which goes with which. I am starting to understand but they are all green and look the same.
