I have gone through 4 electric skillets on an average of one per year. They were all under $60 & the adage, 'You get what you pay for', is usually true. This time, after going thru 4 less expensive, yet highly rated, models, I decided to go for two of the higher end models and narrowed it down to the AllClad and this one, both costing around the same (note: I purchased the stainless steel model, which was $50 less than the same colored models.) I settled on this one because of the chemicals used in the AllClad coating. The last 4 less expensive models had plastic legs that broke, a cord went bad on another, the thermostat went on it and burnt my food and the food stuck to the non-stick coating on another, even though I always use rubber tools and handwashed the pans. I was immediately impressed by this skillet. 1- the removable pan is very roomy and deep, and can easily accommodate a stew. 2- no long handle to accidentally hit and knock off your counter. Such a simple, yet thoughtful, design. 3- The pan is easy to remove and the non-stick coating is almost too slick. Forget about flipping your food over using your spatula in one hand because it's SOOO good, if you try to push the food against the side of the pan, it slides back down before you can get the spatula under it. So, this will probably require a two- handed flip. 4- the electrical cord has a really nice silicon strap to keep it folded. 5- it doesn't slide around on your countertop. 6- cleaning is not a breeze. It's a tiny puff. Seriously, it's amazing. 7- the control panel is so much better than the type with a dial on the cord itself to get the proper heat setting. 8- it's beautiful and solidly made The attached photo was taken after cooking a mozzarella and sundried tomato omelet. It hasn't been washed or even wiped down with a paper towel. I plan to baby this one so the coating will last for years. Hopefully, I won't be buying a new one for at least 5 years vs an average of 1.5 years. ... show more

I've already used it 3 times and owned it for less than 2 weeks. The Searing and Saute Stir-Fry features are awesome. The even browning when you sear is awesome. First, I will say that I only buy Green Pan products for my cookware. They are, in my opinion, the best and safest cookware. However, I have some issues with this order. I ordered the product in color black, but I was delivered one in white. That wasn't a major problem for me so I kept it. However, the white model has a very shiny, silver colored control panel. It is so shiny that I can hardly read the labels on it in black print. I would suggest that Green Pan make the control panel dark in color with white labels. ... show more

This thing will do real cooking, of real food, very easily. You need to want to cook, in the first place,not just heat pre-prepared junk or pretend you're trying when you're avoiding, but if you want to cook in your own home, this is maybe the easiest way to do it. It will replace almost anything else, it's easy to use, store and clean. Between the Mrs. and me, we've been cooking for nearly a century. I still use cast iron from the early 1900s, and also the latest in electric woks, and we spared no expense in equipment. If I were to advise folks who are wanting to start from scratch, this would be the first item I'd suggest. ... show more

I just got this so it is hard to say. So far so good. Looks nice. Interesting shape makes it especially versatile. I think it is the perfect depth for making rice. You could make like A LOT with this if that’s your intention. I guess the star off is because I was really looking for a slow-cooker and somehow during that search this came up. I thought it looked great, read reviews. And it can do slow cooking kind of, but what worries me is the shallowness, I wonder how true slow-cooker recipes will translate with that? Also the size is pretty small for a slow cooker for me. I’m not returning it.. yet, but it will stand to be seen whether this can really claim to be a slow-cooker, or not. **Been using a few weeks works now, great. Even cooking. I have only used as I would a sauté pot. I have not tried to cook grains, slow cook etc. It works well for steaming. Easy and fast. I got this to replace several pots and pans I was tired of cleaning. Now I just have one to clean. It doesn’t appear to get as hot as my stovetop. The inner pit is a bit unwieldy with its little legs and electronic components. It is heavy. I have not put in the dishwasher yet. The edges sometimes get bumped and have chipped a little. Hoping this doesn’t happen to the cooking surface. Smelled awful the first time or two it was on high heat. I don’t think I wiped the inner pot enough. Eventually it went away. To cut down clutter I feel like this was a good purchase. I still use a pot on the stove for pasta. Will have to see how the grain function works.. ... show more

Everything I had hoped for. I have been using the heck out of this thing and it is a fun to cook in and easy to clean up. I have scorched and burt things in it and it cleans up well. I have some recipes I can't wait to try in this pan. I'm thinking of sending one out on the Kodiak boat and replace the old crock pot. ... show more
