Used this on a trip to the Mediterranean. Used it when water was questionable, and to have purified water to put into a CPAP I use every night. Never had to dip water out of a stream, fountain, or lake, but took it with me for that reason if needed. Taste was always great. Only issue, is this is a bit heavy on a sling back pack when full, but knew that going in. Check your backpack water bottle pocket size limitation before travel. This size is MUCH more manageable and less weight than the full size variant that I also have. Would like to see GRAYL include a carabiner matched to the package for convenience. This water purifying bottle will not disappoint. Look no further. Buy it, you won’t regret it. Got this water bottle in preparation heading to Egypt and Istanbul, but I’m also an avid hiker and adventure seeker, so this bottle has quickly become a staple for my backpack. It purifies your water from microbes, bacteria, viruses, chemicals, gradients, heavy metals and produces perfect flavor, as if you’re drinking from a bottled water. The only downside some may find is the pressure required to press the water through the geo-filter. I find it to be no issue, the elderly or those with little muscle mass, might find this difficult. ... show more

Used this to drink from sink tap water in Cuba and did not get sick. It does not purify salty water and one of the taps was suspiciously salty (Playa Giron), but otherwise it worked great. Be sure to open the cap a turn before filtering, I did this wrong the first time and forced water out everywhere (did not read instructions). It takes a minute to press down so it is less convenient than my normal travel water bottle. But it's nice to not have to buy water every time you're thirsty or need to brush your teeth. I kind of wish I had gotten the bigger size as this one doesn't carry a lot. ... show more

A friend had one of these and I was impressed by the quality and ease of purifying water from any stream or lake. Had to get one for myself. No awful carbon taste, and it’s awesome that you can filter water and pour it into another container or add fruit infusions or flavored powders to it. No difficult straw to suck through! I only wish the screw-on cap had a tether, and I’d love to see a built-in carabiner clip added to the handle. Then it’d be perfect! That was a big miss on the design and why I docked one star. Used it for a long weekend in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and it worked great. ... show more
