  • Perfect for Long-Term Travel – No More Bottled Water!
I travel all over the world for months at a time, and I finally got tired of constantly buying bottled water—both for the expense and the environmental impact. That’s why I picked up the GRAYL UltraPress, and it’s honestly one of the best travel gear decisions I’ve made. It’s incredibly easy to use—fill, press, and drink. I’ve used it with tap water in multiple countries and even with questionable sources while hiking. Every time, the water comes out clean, tastes great, and I never have to worry about getting sick. Knowing it removes viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and even heavy metals gives me serious peace of mind on the road. It’s sturdy, compact enough to fit in my backpack side pocket, and doesn’t leak. Plus, the filter lasts for a long time (300+ uses), so it’s saving me money and reducing plastic waste. Highly recommend it for fellow travelers, hikers, or anyone who wants safe drinking water anywhere. ... show more

  • Spills water
Color: Forager Moss
Great filter, kinda messy spills water but worth it. My kiddos love it and take it to school to drink from water fountain. Helps cut down on shared viruses and bacteria from local water holes. They do have trouble with the press but they are figuring it out.

  • Not quite perfect… but close enough!
Color: Olive Drab
Original review: I really want to love this water bottle, but I just can’t. To be fair, my use-case is slightly different than what it’s advertised for. The tap water where I live is gross and chemically, so I only drink filtered water. I have a “zero water” filter at home that I love, but I got tired of carrying around a giant jug of water every day. Then I saw this and figured that the ability to filter water anywhere was worth the price premium. The pros: it does filter water. Pretty easily too. It doesn’t taste as good as the water from my filter at home, but it’s probably 90% as good and that’s fine with me. It’s also constructed nicely and feels solid and rugged in the hand. Swapping filters is also easy, and the one way valve that allows me to add sports drink powder without damaging the filter is a pretty smart feature. The cons: this might seem nitpicky to most, but it bothers me that the cap for the drinking spout doesn’t have anything attaching it to the lid. So if you were using this outdoors (which is the use it’s advertised for) and you accidentally drop the cap and lose it, then you completely lose the ability to seal it. You also can’t open and drink from the bottle with one hand because there’s nothing holding the cap on. This seems like such an unnecessary problem for a premium bottle like this. Also it leaks... Kinda. You HAVE to keep it right side up at all times, because if you lay it on its side then it leaks water. Which means you can’t just toss it in your bag or on the car seat without getting everything wet. Basically when you put water in the outer cup and then press the inner cup down to filter it, there’s still some water left over in the outer cup. I’m not sure if this was done intentionally so that the filter doesn’t get crushed/cracked by pushing too hard, or if it’s a limitation of the filter itself, but there’s always about 1-2 ounces of dirty water left in the outer cup. There’s a small seal around the top of the inner cup to prevent that water from seeping out when the bottle is on its side, but it’s not effective. So whenever I filter water, I then immediately remove the inner cup and dump out the excess dirty water and put the inner cup back in, which solves that problem. But I have to completely remove the drinking cap to allow the pressure to equalize, again increasing the risk of losing the cap. So overall, I’m probably still going to use this bottle all the time to have access to clean water. Because I’d rather deal with these minor inconveniences than have to carry around a large jug all the time. But if I ever lose the cap I’m going to be furious. Because having to spend another $90 on a new bottle because a $1 piece fell off is going to be a tough pill to swallow. Also it’s really tall, so I can’t put it in the cup holders in my car because then it blocks the shifter (it’s a manual transmission). I’m not dinging this product for that though because that’s a specifically “me” problem. Just something to note. Edit: my original review was after about 4-5 days of use. It’s been another week or so since then and the leaking issue has gone away. I’m not sure if it just needed to break in or if I was doing it wrong at first, but it’s all good now. I still wish that the drinking cap was attached to the bottle, but I don’t think it bothers me enough to knock off a star. Maybe it’s like a 4.5 now, but I’ll round up. Also the taste has improved over the last couple weeks, and I can now have tasty clean water everywhere! ... show more

  • Clean water in any situation
The grayl is a great product that allows me to pack less water which equals less weight. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Great for any outdoor adventure in addition to emergency situations when clean water is not available.

  • Great bottle, until it leaked.
Color: Olive Drab
Great bottle. Bought 2 bottels and two filters. Worked beautifully until I replaced the filter. Now it leaks from between the outer 'cup' and the inner filter. So the water that leaks onto everything and into your mouth if you're not careful, is unfiltered. ● when it didn't leak, the water produced did not have taste or smell. I traveled all over Europe and Asia using the bottle. ... show more

  • Great choice for backpacking
Took this Grayl bottle on a backpacking trip and it seriously came in clutch. I used it to filter water straight from rivers and the water came out super clean and crisp-tasting. It’s really easy to use. Just scoop, press, and drink. No weird aftertaste or funky smell like some filters have. It gave me peace of mind knowing I could refill just about anywhere without worrying. If you’re hiking, camping, or just want a solid emergency backup, this bottle’s a must-have. It’s a bit pricey, but 100% worth it for the convenience and safety. ... show more

  • Functional and effective
Color: Covert black
I cannot say enough good things about this product. I prefer the 16 versus the 24 ounce as it fits into water bottle holder on the side of my backpack easier. Have in my EDC and hurricane evacuation kits, and carry with me camping and hiking regularly. Can use as a simple water bottle or if needed for order purification. Have used on remote out west on elk hunts and throughout the Southeast without any issue. ... show more

  • I'm never buying bottled water.
Color: Covert black
Took it on an 8-day cruise and used it on our excursions in Mexico and Belize. I tried it using water from the tap in my cabin, and it tasted like the $5.00 bottled water. I also used the tap water in Mexico and Belize same results. The missus and I did not get sick at all, no smells in the water. Pressing the water through the filter does take a little effort but I'm never buying bottled water again. ... show more
