  • Small and functional
Hope I never need it but looks functional and not to expensive.

  • EDITED REVIEW - The Customer service with this company is pretty amazing.
I'm deleting my original review. The customer service of this company has been pretty amazing. I've never had a company from Amazon reach out to me about my concerns. Originally I bought this filter and took it on 1 backpacking trip and by the end of the trip the filter was barely working. The customer service rep reached out to be apologizing and stating that I most likely received a faulty filter. They sent me a brand new replacement one. I'm excited to try this one out too, but I think it will work just fine. The customer service of this company is really awesome though. It goes a long way when companies invest in great customer service and have reps who care about their product. ... show more

  • Worked very well.
The filtering system worked really well while on a camping trip but it did clog up when we tried filtering water with heavy amounts of iron. We attempted the directions for clearing it out, but it never was able to filter as well afterwards.

  • Very convenient and easy to use
The portable water filter was perfect for my hiking trip. Small and lightweight enough to easily carry around. While on my hike I was able to get the water directly out of the river to drink or store in the water bag. I can even filter water out of a bottle due to the extension tube that can connect to a water bottle. The tube is a water filter that removes contaminates that can affect the water such as rocks, leaves, chlorine and mercury just to name a few. The removal rate is up to 99.99999. What a life saver it turned out to be on my hike. ... show more

  • Great water purifier for when you're just not sure about your water source
We saw this on the Wooded Beardsman's YouTube channel, and had to get one to treat the water at our hunting camp. Our camp's water comes out of the ground into a collector, then it overflows into a reservoir, before traveling by pipe into the camp. The water should be pure, but you never know if something may have died where the water supplies the spring or even in the reservoir or collector. We hang the bag on a nail and let it drip into our 7 gallon water cube, and let gravity do all the work. It is slow going, and I've heard that pressing the bag will help it move faster, but we just let it do its own thing on its own time. The bag has a handle that slides on and off for filling and hanging. The most important thing to remember is to get all the air bubbles out of the tube, so the water flows well. Tapping and squeezing the tube will remove the air, and then gravity does the rest. There is no taste issue, and the water is completely clear. A must for anyone with the time to purify water. ... show more

  • UPDATE!!!...GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE...PROBLEMS PERSIST
ORIGINAL REWIEW INCLUDED BELOW...UPDATE 6-8-22 What to expect from a cost effective gravity water filter?...This is a different name brand which appears to be manufactured for/or imported by a company called "Membraine Solutions" which also markets products under that name. Having previously purchased one of the "Membrane Solutions" products in the past (which had quality issues), I decided to try another name brand...on the surface, both appear to be of the same quality with a few design/feature differences. My original SimPure filter came broken in the package, and to their credit, was replaced willingly and in a timely fashion by the seller. No big hassle. So, ready to test, right? Not entirely, this time I encountered a "small leak" at the bottom of the "raw water" bag. Not a big deal, patched and resolved with a water toy patch kit. Moving on.... using a irrigation canal water source, I proceed to test this filter, and yes, open water does contain "debris" which will clog the filter in short order, but there is a "flushing" method to "clear" some of the blockage which significantly reduces flow through the filter. With this in mind, I will set up this filter "first thing" when arriving at a camp site to allow an hour or so for it to filter it's capacity. I have not utilized this filter as a "straw" because I am very cautious about water safty, and utilize water "purification" tablets after filtering to lessen the risk of contamination or water born illness. So, in the end, my conclusion is that this filer will work for my inteded use (with precautions) and it comes down to a balanced choice of function, price, weight, and serviceable life compared to other filter options. Consider your personal needs, and be willing to try a few different systems (pumps, straws, advanced filters, gravity flow) to find the solution that works for you. Happy Camping :-) And always be prepared! ORIGINAL REVIEW>>> Well, if you're trying to find a reasonably priced, useable gravity filter for camping / hiking, you may wish to look elsewhere ... wish I could say that I had a chance to try this one, but it came broken in the box ... filler bag intact, but straw filter cracked at cap attachment point, so it just leaked all over the place ... I understand there are mistakes in manufacturing, but they should never make it to the consumer. ... show more
