    • Great durable jug - except that little red pull tab !
So, if you explicitly follow the instructions & REMOVE THE SPOUT SCREW ON VALVE / PORT , you can carefully pull the jug fully open with the red pull loop. The issue is if you just open it or hand it to someone else without telling them - they WILL immediately pull on it hard & stretch the connecting point of the rep pull loop until it breaks. That is the first & foremost weak point in the design & the one place they failed to make a thicker / reinforced connecting point on the jug. ***THE COMPANY though was immediately responsive & resolved my first issue without hesitation, right before departing for the 9 day event out of state! Great customer service! When it inevitably happened again after giving it to a scout - I didn’t bother to replace , as it was absolutely user error since they didn’t follow my instructions either, ha **** Is it still usable, yes, why I have this 4+ stars. Reinforcement of the connecting point or a better pull design & it’s 5 stars. Be careful & always remove the valve first & you won’t have an issue however. You can still inflate it by blowing air into it with the valve removed or use a pressured water source from a pump or hose to fill with water. If you’re filling from a creek for camping - it won’t have enough pressure to open the jug up itself, so inflating first & then sterilizing the water is the process. All in all: took this on a Philmont Boy Scout trek of 55+ miles & a week in the back country , utilizing these (2) two 2.6gal jugs for camp sites & dry camps due to the need for sterilized water in bulk for cooking & cleaning & refilling water bottles. We watched every other group just individually filling hydro packs & water bottles up , sterilizing each separate one for groups of a dozen people … I figured two (for ease of carrying to camp with two hands or two people on a hike share the load) of the 2.6gal containers were ideal instead of a 5 gal single jug . Having two as well in case one got a hole or was damaged is always better for redundancy / backup (the plastic valve is the weak point in the cold or if dropped hard when full - would likely shatter) . Both survived without gentle use & filled with creek water, non-potable pump water & of course potable well water & sterilized Muriel times. Having 5 gals of water availed in camp at all times was ultra efficient to cook with, clean / wash hands & full bottles up before hiking out each morning. Empty, fold down, install the valve (closed) & put on pack outside flat or inside the lid, protecting the plastic valve from impact / pressure & it works like a charm. The flexibility & thickness of these are ideal for camping - the only caveat maybe cold (above freezing - do not freeze !!!) could make the folding / creasing or valves brittle & more likely to crack or break. 3 season camping jugs, great price, efficient / flat design , lightweight & great customer service. When a hurricane is coming, these are a fantastic alternative to fighting people at the box store for bottled water. They are strong, when full I didn't feel like it was gonna fail when carried. Got this as I live upstairs and got tired of running downstairs for a cup of water. Didn't measure the exact size, but it seems to be as reported. Filling it is simply as you simply twist off the plastic spigot and put it under the faucet. The handle is quite sturdy, and so far the plastic spigot has stood up to use. Do keep in mind that if you place this on a shelf with spigot facing down, it will NOT point straight down due to the container being "soft" and deforms slightly. Does not really affect functionality, but just keep that in mind. As you sue more fo the water, the container collapsed upon itself and takes up less and less space. you may have a little problem getting the final ounces of the water out, but that is almost nitpicking. All in all, it does what it says: a portable collapsible container for carrying gallons of water. It's good not only for emergency supplies, but also people who need water with more convenience. ... show more

I bought this to replace my old collapsible water jug, which was a 5 gallon version that didn't fold up very compactly. This container folds very tightly and takes up very little of my limited storage space. In addition, the 2.6 gallon capacity is just right for my needs. Being about 1/2 the capacity, it's much lighter to carry when full. I've used it on a couple of trips this summer and it works very well. The spigot is tight and doesn't leak and is well positioned for putting the container on the edge of a picnic table. On the downside, the plastic is thinner than my old jug and it looks like repeated folding and unfolding will eventually cause a leak at the folding points. ... show more
