  • This is a must!
So far this product has been a phenomenal tool to use on my son‘s car. When he first started driving and had his license, it was a great way to check how dumb he is at driving. It was a great leverage tool to show how bad he is driving as well as where he was at. As he got older, he turned 21. Being that now he was legal, and after graduating college, he decided to carry on his partying life with his professional life. Those things don’t mix, especially when he was behind the wheel, making stupid mistakes without us knowing. It got so bad that we used this device to show him and to a friend of our school as a police officer what the repercussions would be. Technology is key in order to stop them from hurting themselves as well as others. This tracker did its job. Showing the pattern and the places he went effectively. It is easy to track as well as it alert alerts you of not only driver performance, but the performance of the vehicle itself. He has taken a turn, and now realizes driving while impaired is not an option. That doesn’t mean the battle is over, but there is been a few instances that scared him enough to change his way of thinking. It’s probably because of maturity now that he is 24 years old. Last year, my son was mugged in Chicago. He got out of his car in half block away he was mugged. They took his phone. And he was unable to call us to tell us he was OK. He used someone else’s phone (Good Samaritan), and after calling along with the cops and everything else, he was on his way home. I was able to track his car as he made it home. There has been multiple times I have been able to ping his car, not only knowing where he is at, but also in times like this this tracker is worth its weight in gold and then some. I highly recommend this tracker for your kids. Not only after when they get their license where they’re doing 120 miles an hour in a 55 mile an hour zone, but as they get older and alcohol is involved, it is another means to show, and to prevent them from harming themselves as well as so many other others. I cannot stress this enough, get one of these. Battery life is extremely long since it is connected into the Obd port, and I have done it in a way where it is talked inside the dash up at the steering wheel housing. At $79 per year to track, this makes an effective tool to stop and prevent your kids from doing something stupid. If they disconnect, it tells you that it has been tampered. So if they turn off their phone tracker, you can still track them if they are driving in the car. Once they stop and turn off the ignition, the point is close to about 3 feet from where they are located. So it is almost pinpoint accuracy. That doesn’t mean that you are a hover parent, however, kids will do many stupid things. And as they get older, some of those things can’t get very dangerous. This is a wonderful tool to use. I would also recommend that you tell them that you have a tracker on the car. If they disconnect, then you do repercussions. Harsh repercussions. Tell them it is for their own good, and show them how they are driving. We did with our kid, and if it was tampered, we then took away the keys in the car and disabled the car entirely. Product came on time, packaged well easy to set up easy to maneuver and to start. Just follow the directions and use the app and you will do fine. Highly highly highly recommend. ... show more

  • I've had a great time using it and the company seems keep on customer satisfaction
I have been using Vyncs' tracker for a little over a year now and it is WELL worth the investment. The subscription was $80 for a year so I just renewed it when I was surprised with a premium version of the plan (which includes more features) for free! As for the actual product, its really easy to install and use on the web browser and app- I never had to call in for additional instructions, just plug, pay and play. I also really appreciate that the company won't send me weekly ads via email, I just bought the subscription and that was it. I only found out that it was time for renewal once I logged into the app to check some diagnostics on my car and then I had the notification in-app. Overall it's a great product that works fast to provide details about car diagnostics (which has helped me fix problems in the car without a mechanic and saved literally hundreds of dollars) and track the car's position while being installed in a discrete spot. This has come in handy sometimes when I forget where I parked, but I really got that just in case my car ever gets stolen. Overall, after two years with Vyncs I have been very pleased with the product and the ease of use. ... show more

  • STEER CLEAR OF THIS DEVICE UNLESS YOU LIKE CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE.
This device is ok if you want to monitor your vehicle's location (as long as it's NOT a 2020 Honda). My son likes it because we live in a high-theft area and if it disappears, we can track it. Not so good for monitoring battery and engine issues (more below). UPDATE #1: It's been over a year now, and the device has not only delivered great results, but it has delivered piece of mind. My son's 1997 Tahoe had an issue with the 02 oxygen sensors and the device notified us of early detection. While not a serious issue, fuel consumption can be troublesome with a truck, especially when it's not functioning properly. Vyncs saved us some $! In addition, the GPS tracker and the trip features are worth every penny. I just hope we never have to use it to track the truck if it's stolen. UPDATE#2: This device was moved from a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe to a 2020 Honda Civic Sedan. It is NOT compatible with the Honda (regarding MPG data) and here's the response I received directly from VYNCS: Most manufacturers have about 3 generic parameters that give fuel level. These are generic parameters but not mandatory and available only for the light-duty vehicles. Because it is not mandatory, some manufacturers will not provide the parameters and if they do not, the fuel level page will be blank. Every Honda Civic since MY 2011 have not provided sufficient parameters through the OBDII system. Until Honda changes their OBDII protocol for a future generation this information will not be available in any 2011+ Honda vehicles. UPDATE #3: STEER CLEAR OF THIS DEVICE UNLESS YOU LIKE CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE. On Feb. 22, 2022, the GPS failed to function. I wrote customer service through the ONLY outlet they have on the website and notified them of such. I was told that the device had expired and that I was not only required to buy a NEW 4G device, but that I also had to pay another activation fee!!!! First off, you can't speak with ANYONE at this company. EVER. Email is not answered. You can only go through their tech support link and the responses are sketchy at best. Aside from the wordy explanation they gave me (above) for the fact that a 2020 Honda Accord isn't compatible, they've NEVER answered my queries in detail -- it's as though you're dealing with the Chinese all over again. A detailed description, such as what I'm writing now, deserves a detailed response. NOT POSSIBLE with Vyncs. You can ask a specific question and they send back some "form letter" response that may or may not have anything to do with the issue you are concerned with. I am VERY disappointed with this company. Things started out okay with the device working in a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, but when it was moved to a 2020 Honda Accord, EVERYTHING except the GPS function went south. It even gave false battery charge level readings. When I contacted the company, they would respond sometimes within 24 hours, mostly within 48 hours and you can FORGET ABOUT RESPONSES ON WEEKENDS. Do yourself a favor (if you are an individual looking for some accurate information) and look elsewhere -- regardless of the "no monthly fee" claim. They don't provide a good enough service to warrant one! These people talk a good sales game, but when presented with a serious query that requires problem-solving skills, they have nothing to offer. Save your money or shop a competitor!!!! ... show more

  • Good Product, but...
Good product and certainly worth the money. I have used Vyncs for several years in 2 different vehicles. It provides accurate information about the overall performance of the vehicle, and I can always pinpoint the location of the vehicle. Would give it 5 stars, but trying to hide it in the vehicle is difficult. A thief who knows anything about automobiles could spot it easily. ... show more

  • Exceptional device with many value-added features.
With two new drivers in the house (twins), my wife urged me to figure out a way to stay on top of how their driving patterns were, whether they go where they said they are going, etc. I found the Vyncs GPS tracker during general internet searches and decided to give this a try. What cemented my decision was the fact that it works over the 3G network with no contract, no wi-fi or data plans needed, and the first year of service was included in the price. It has been exactly what we have needed and we have been able to feel assured that our boys are being responsible drivers and we know they are arriving to their destinations, then know when they are returning. The fact that it works through the car's OBD port and does not need charging since it's on when the vehicle is on and off when it's off, therefore doesn't drain the battery was another reason we are happy with this product. The reports available on driver habits, such as alerting us when the car exceeds the mph limits we set, excessive braking or acceleration, excessive g-forces, and general vehicle health were just icing on the cake. My wife is thrilled and now is more adept at pulling reports and analyzing the many details provided that she now lets me know tidbits of information that I now use to maintain the car in good working order. Very pleased and will continue using this product even when our boys leave the nest in the fall. ... show more

  • Works great!
After a lot of reading reviews and online searches, found this unit, and so far (2 weeks), I'm not unhappy with it. Its not a tracking as going down the road speed inch by inch, but for the one time fee, it loads every 180 seconds to the position. What I really wanted was to tell me if my sons truck was low on fuel, hard stops, quick accelerations, check engine light, idling to long, locations, etc.. This does all those things. It also give mpg and some other maybe useful things to some. Also, there is an App and you can long in from a desktop! ... show more

  • Tracking satellite map display is obfuscated to an unacceptable level
I've been a consumer for multiple years. Overall, what is offered is a good product for the value. A plus being an OBD (on-board diagnostic) plug device, you get additional information as to the health of your vehicle and that has been beneficial for me on several occasions. My one big complaint which I've aired to tech support several times, relates to the actual satellite map display. When I first started with the product, the map was crystal clear, you could see street names, building structures, etc but each year they started to obfuscate areas in which the vehicle was travelling. I'm constantly jumping over to google maps to identify streets, building, etc via its capabilities. I've yet to receive a convincing response as to why they obfuscated to that point requiring me to use another app. What I was told was it changed due to software upgrades. That's fine, but you know it can be dialed in or out. What's the real reason. Sometimes there are surrounding areas near the traveling path that are obfuscated more which make no sense as if the software is guessing its areas you might be heading to or from. There have been times when product looses gps signal. That would be expected, however, the annoying thing is when you don't receive an update within your agreement schedule ( for me its 3 min or 4 allowing for delays) as to current location. It hasn't happened for awhile but at times it could be 30min to 1hr for it to update even when gps signal is good. Yes, many reasons could be suspect: satellite , server, device, or lost gps problems. Another problem for a period that was occurring relates to auto start/stop on the vehicle. Years ago, product worked great, then an apparent software upgrade and each time the car turned off while stopped in traffic or light, it recorded it as a trip. Unfortunately, on this vehicle, auto start/stop can't be turned off. That became annoying but haven't noticed that lately, so maybe they got that rectified. A few times received notifications of device being tampered or loss of power with when I don't believe that was ever the case. Another option that I find beneficial and use frequenting is the GEO fencing to mark zones. This is a nice feature to get notifications when entering or leaving a zone. What I'm not sure about is the purpose when when you disallow a zone other than its RED on the map. Its not like your car turns off or what not. Overall, its a product and service worth considering. Years ago I would have highly recommended this as an option but when they started obfuscating the map, that pretty well detracted from its overall usefulness. ... show more

  • Must have for parents of teenage drivers
Ever since my daughter got access to our car she has been off to the races... Well I really wasn't sure she was off to the races but I had that gut feeling us parents get when we know something is not quite. I started researching different services including apps that I could put on her phone. We tried an App first though it didn't take very long to find out that she just hacked the app and turned it off. Kids can do just about anything with there phones these days after all they have way more time to dedicate to getting around our parental safe guards then we have time to monitor them. After I discovered that she had hacked the tracking app we had put on her phone I knew I needed to find something out of her reach. That is when I discovered this device and the VYNCs service. There were several other services available but the continued cost of those services approached that of a cellphone bill which makes no sense for a regular person like me. After installing the unit into the ODB2 port of my daughters car I quickly discovered that it worked perfectly. Sure there is a little latency between when it enters and exits different zones and when you receive a notification but frankly that's not a big deal to me as I don't have time to be tracking my daughter all day. It is nice to get a graphical report at the end of the day where I can review where she has been going and discuss it with her. The greatest part is she has no idea that the tracker is their, as I did a little more work and installed the device inside the cars dashboard rather than just leaving it connected to the ODB2 port below the steering wheal. I strongly advise anyone installing this in there vehicles follow the various tutorials available on YouTube for "Installing GPS Tracker In {You Cars Make and Model} Dashboard". The car my daughter drives is a Toyota Corolla and the installation was really easy after watching a video. Even if you have to take it to a Mechanic to do it's worth it to ensure that the tracker isn't simply removed. ... show more
