If you are not familiar with Amazon Vine, it is basically Amazon trading free* products for honest reviews. You see a lot of Vine reviews that are cookie cutter and based on templates. I aim to make my reviews honest and non-cookie cutter (other than this intro and disclaimer). * These items are not actually free as Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. Therefore, I will never order something from Vine unless I actually intend to use it. I think this is important for readers to understand because it means I will never order an item just to provide a fake five star review to a company. If I review something as good, it means I actually enjoyed using it or it fills its intended purpose correctly. Items that don't meet my expectations will be reviewed accordingly. Why I ordered this item: I have a work truck that gets driven by multiple people and I wanted to keep tabs on where it is and what's happening with it without paying some subscription service forever. Likes: * The fact that there's no monthly fee is huge. I looked at a bunch of these trackers and most of them hook you into a subscription model. This one just works once you throw a SIM card in it, and that's it. * Setup was straightforward. I grabbed a SIM, popped it in, and the thing started tracking. No weird calibration or software nonsense to deal with. * The updates come in every 30 seconds which is fast enough to see what route someone took, not just "they were here and then they were there." * Geofencing is solid. I set up a boundary around our main facility and I get notified when the truck leaves or comes back. It's the kind of thing that seems simple but saves you from having to check in on stuff constantly. * The app is clean. Not a lot of bloated features you don't need, just a map with the truck location and a history of where it's been. * Magnetic mount means I didn't have to drill anything or run wires. Stuck it under the frame and called it done. No likes: * I have no idea how long this thing will last. The battery spec says 60 days if you use it an hour a day, but what happens in year two or year three? Will the battery still hold that kind of charge or will it degrade? There's not a lot of user feedback out there about whether these things are holding up long-term. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: For the price and the lack of recurring fees, this does exactly what I need. The truck location is easy to check and the history feature has already been useful for seeing what drivers are doing out there. I guess we'll see how the battery does.

I wasn't sure if I'd like this GPS tracker or not. I've never had one. I didn't want to have to pay a subscription, etc. This GPS tracker works pretty good. It works as expected and seems to be pretty accurate as well. It is pretty straight-forward for using it... but the instructions weren't the best. Overall, I like it and will continue to use it... hopefully it lasts for a long time.

This GPS tracker from CyVaJive works as described, but there are some important considerations to keep in mind before buying. I bought this for my personal use since I live in an urban area, so I thought I’d try this tracker to be proactive in case something happens to my vehicle. Setup is fairly straightforward. The device requires an active 4G LTE SIM card with a data plan, which is not included. The listing states there are no subscription fees, which is technically correct, but you will still need to supply your own data plan for it to function. Once I inserted an activated SIM card, the device connected without needing any special configuration. The status LEDs on the top indicate power, cellular signal, and GPS connection. The instruction manual clearly explains the different blinking patterns. It is not immediately intuitive without reading the manual, but once you understand the indicators, it is easy to tell whether everything is working properly. The companion app is where things become a little more complicated. The app is not available through the standard app stores for Android or iOS and must be installed manually. That may make some users uncomfortable, as this lacks the software security protections that app stores provide. The app's interface works, but some parts are not fully translated. Despite that, the core features function properly. You can view the device location on a map, review trip history, set geofences, and monitor signal and battery status. For basic tracking and trip playback, it does what you would expect. Data usage appears minimal. Over a short drive, the amount of data consumed was very small, so a prepaid or low-cost data plan should be sufficient for most users. The device also appears to reduce activity when stationary, which helps conserve data. The tracker itself is compact, magnetized, and easy to place discreetly. The housing feels solid but is not made of metal. There is a protective cover over the SIM slot and charging port. I did not see an official IP rating listed, and there are small holes in the top, so it's unlikely to be waterproof. Long-term exposure to harsh weather is something to consider. Overall, the hardware works, and tracking accuracy is acceptable. My hesitation is primarily due to the software experience and the lack of a polished, fully translated app. If the company offered an official app store version and improved language support, I would be much more comfortable using it for my personal use. At over $100, it is not cheap, so buyers should weigh the hardware functionality against the software limitations before deciding.

I received my OBD reader 2 days ago and so far have not been able to get the app to download. Both my phone and computer mark it as unsafe and I also get a notice that the server is down. Will continue to try. If no luck will be returning for something else.
