Setup through Find My took only a few minutes, with no separate app, SIM card, or monthly fee to deal with. The tracker is small and light enough that it does not add noticeable weight to her bag, and the buckle has stayed secure through playground time and plenty of tossing around in the car. When pickup plans change, checking the backpack in Find My is often easier than sending several messages. The separation alert is also helpful in busy stores because it lets me know when the bag moves too far away. Rain and a few accidental spills have not affected how it works.
