  • Good unit, GREAT Customer Service
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
UPDATE 2 - I was having issues with losing signal and occasionally showing me "off road" driving in a field or a parallel road, but locking back in. When I contacted the seller I was directed to download an update that should correct the issue, More important - they have always responded quickly - 1 to no more than 3 days including weekends! This GPS seems to be as good as the "Name Brand" units friends have but for an amazing price I've had this for a few weeks and traveled about 500 mi and (other than a few times it momentarily "lost signal") it has been doing well - especially when I missed a turn and had to take a "scenic" tour of Pittsburgh to get back on track without going under low bridges etc. Overall, I like this unit & love the price. I drive a 40' Class A motorhome and programmed my height, wgt. etc. and use RVTrip Wizard to plan my route. So far, this has been in line with the programs routing I like that I could program my maximum speed (62mph) and (like a mother in law in the back seat) it would tell me to slow down, this in addition to the normal monitoring of posted speed limits. Screen is large, informative but volume could be louder. We are on a multi state trip and will post again if any issues. So far we got all we expected and more! UPDATE - The more I use this, the more I get used to this, the better I like it. Feature rich and informative. ... show more

  • Not A Good GPS, Not A Good Buy
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
This is a toy GPS. I'm sure someone could make this work but I question why. It has a nice sized screen but it is so hard to use that it's irrelevant. We tried and tried to get it to work but thankfully managed to return it just before the window closed. Here's one weird example and this is no joke. In a Settings sub-menu we found entry bars for "Bra Size" and "Cup Size". I'm not kidding and have no idea what that's about. We returned it and bought a Garmin Drive 52. It is a basic GPS that was instantly functional and made sense to program. The screen is smaller but it is plenty big and it actually fits in both our cars better. The Garmin has an easily detachable ball mount with many mounting options available, including aftermarket. The Ohrex uses a flimsy plastic clippy-thing that only works with the suction cup mount that comes with it, and does not work well with that. The Ohrex manual says that it will not work right unless it's on top of the dash. If it's in your hands or in front of the dash it may not pick up a signal. That's a large loss of visibility and the Garmin has no such difficulty. Save yourself a headache and buy something else. The Garmin was $34 more. ... show more

  • Works Great!
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
The unit arrived in a very timely manner. Easy set up. There is an awful lot of things to like about this, especially for the price. This unit is one of the very few I found that will accommodate either a car, RV and Truck. When you set it up you can set it for RV/Truck and enter not only length but weight(for weight restricted bridges) and that all important HEIGHT . I tested it yesterday and it did warn me that on my chosen route II had a bridge with a clearance well below my stated height restriction. Very helpful, especially when one encounters unforeseen detours along a chosen route. What I especially like is that if you deviate from the units chosen route it does quickly figure out that you chose a different route and it recalculates from that point. Unlike my Subaru that absolutely insists that you make a U turn and conform to its stated route regardless of what you want. There IS some sort of WINDOWS browser that enables you to do some internet searching presumably through a phone as a data hotspot but I have not tested this. It also plays music and videos if that is of any interest. The only real negatives I found with this unit is 1. It is only Windows based so updating maps might be a problem fo MacONLY users. The company says that there is a way to do it so---just to test the Mac system I checked in with customer service to update my maps and received a IMMEDIATE cordial response that made perfect sense and assured me that based on my order no I had the latest maps. So, Customer service seems to work very well.but I have not tested it yet. 2.The programing does not include a GO HOME button like all the others. Again, there IS a work around by putting your home into the Favorites but in my case there was not enough room to enter the complete address---it works well enough but looks incomplete. I suggest lengthening the data inout to allow for a few more characters and add a Proper GO HOME button. All in all--when you compare this to units that cost far more, this is a good deal. ... show more

  • Watch that battery. Watch that battery.
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
It’s alright for what it does. I like that I’m not dependent on data for my maps ( I usually try to download off-line maps for my phone when traveling but I’ll usually forget one area). I would caution about the battery. I came out to my truck today to find that the lithium pouch battery it used had bulged so much that it knocked the units rear cover off ( I immediately clipped it off and dropped it off at a disposal facility). Amazingly enough, it still works when powered through the car’s 12V. Since it’s been relatively cool the past couple of weeks and the majority of the time, my truck is parked under cover with the windows cracked, I don’t think it was due to heat. ... show more

  • Late Turn Announcements!
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
Over all for the price OHREX GPS Navigation is an okay GPS. Bought this to replace my 13yr old Tomtom that finally kick the bucket. OHREX GPS - big screen, bright, many functions deep in the setting that can be tweaked, fast recalculation, pretty good satellite signal, volume is loud enough. Voices selection is fair. The suction arm is sturdy enough to hold the GPS in place, no issues there. OHREX GPS also came with a screen protector already installed, came with a manual, a charging mini-USB cable & a car adapter mini-USB cable and the suction arm. Battery life is pretty good. I set the backlit to 50% used it for 50mins unplugged, still have 75% battery power left. The biggest CON I found is - "OHREX GPS announces your turns, merge etc very LATE!" So basically it will say, "turn left/turn right in 100feet" when you are 5-10feet from your actual turn!! Even when the "warn/announce in advance is checked in the settings. I asked the seller about this problem, the response I got was simply "So, sorry but NO there is no fix for this" - so yeah, if you rely on the voice instructions & not pay much attention to the GPS map - you will miss your turns & merges. Another confusing announcement is, it will always say "next right, next left" even if it's the immediate right/left turn so if there are 2 right/left turns next to each other - good luck. Tomtom will always say left turn ahead, if there are 2 left turns it will specify which turn you need to make. Another CON for me is the pre-installed screen protector, it is very reflective, making the 7" screen looks like a mirror on a sunny day! Good thing I have a spare matte/anti glare tablet screen protector - cut it to size & replaced the pre-installed one, problem solved. Since I don't travel to unknown routes too often. I decided to keep the GPS since a Garmin or a Tomtom with a 5" screen cost twice the price. I'll deal with the late announcement by paying more attention, annoying but tolerable. As for durability - who knows, everything seems to be made as durable as disposable gadgets these days. The Tomtom lasted 13yrs, I'll see how long this one last. ... show more

  • Great GPS
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
We received this a few weeks ago and I was quite impressed with the graphics, the accuracy, and the speed of updates such as course corrections. Love that you can put in a vehicle type - we bought it to use with our motorhome. Gave it a good try over the weekend on trip just across the state line. To test is, I programed the Ohrex GPS, and my wife put in the destination on her i-phone Apple Maps. Initially the time of arrival was about 20 minutes different on a 2 hour drive. Apple maps had us getting there sooner. The routes were identical. As we drove the GPS arrival time adjusted by a couple of minutes to an earlier arrival time, but the Apple maps just kept adding time. Turns out that when we arrived, the Ohrex GPS initial prediction of arrival time was only a few minutes off, whereas Apple Maps was off by at least 20 minutes. I love that once you near your destination the GPS actually gives off the house numbers as you drive by. This is real bonus when it is so hard to actually read street addresses. Another feature I like is the automatic zoom in and zoom out. When on a limited access roadway, it zooms out to give the "big picture" view..... .only the information you need. As you near a destination, of turn off the highway on to local roads, the GPS automatically zooms in to give more detail, such as intersecting street names. This is a really good GPS, and at a really great price. ... show more

  • you get what you pay for
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
I bought this GPS for a trip to England because my Garmin was so ancient the maps won't update and in the past we've had issues with our phone maps losing cellular there without us realizing it, so we end up misrouted/lost. The US map that is installed is extremely outdated, despite the claim that they have the most current maps - several stores that have been in my town for at least ten years don't show up. Downloading a UK map was somewhat difficult but it did finally work, and I was able to use it in England. I don't know how outdated that one was since I was usually using it to get to town centers. My biggest problem with it is that it's extremely hard to program destinations. It doesn't (usually) just pull up locations based on what you are typing in, so you have to type out entire very long names, and that doesn't always work either. It's difficult to enter the addresses and takes a ridiculously long time. It also keeps the last destination in the memory and kept using that instead of the new one, even when I'd cancelled the previous route. Then you have to take ages entering the new one again. It did do fine as far as routing us in certain areas - it was better around Bath and Somerset than the phone's maps - but in the Cotswolds we had so much trouble getting locations to work that we gave up and mostly used the phone, which worked well there. Overall it was a very frustrating and annoying GPS and next time I will either buy another Garmin or just depend on the phone/actual paper maps. ... show more

  • Very inaccurate for a GPS
Color: 7 inch Black for N700
Bought this Ohrex GPS to replace a several-years old Garmin which could no longer be updated (due to low memory) to guide beyond west of the Mississippi River. I was initially attracted to the large screen of the Ohrex model, and the reasonable price, and assumed the electronics would be pretty common between GPS's these days...As soon as we received the Ohrex GPS, we followed the directions in the manual and went for a drive in our own hometown and a nearby town 15 miles away. Compared to our old Garmin, the accuracy of the Ohrex was pretty bad. We use our GPS mostly when traveling to help us safely negotiate large metropolitan freeway areas when typically, several lanes of traffic are full of other vehicles traveling around 65-70mph. During our initial test of the Ohrex, it sorely missed our city hall address by 5 blocks and took us on a very round-about way to the wrong side of the building which couldn't be entered due to one-way streets. Had we been traveling in an unfamiliar city, we may have became lost. When driving to a nearby town, the navigational voice said to take a "slight left turn" on the highway approach to that area...I've never heard such a command especially when the turn was a 90 deg. left turn. What is a "slight left turn?" When entering the town on a state highway, the Ohrex directed us off that HW (where our shopping address was) and routed us unnecessarily through a tight residential area. I didn't care for any of that at all. Or that fact that the clock simply would not re-set to the correct local time regardless of which time zone I used for this area. I hate to complain, I really do, but I wouldn't trust this GPS to take me through an unfamiliar metro area at all. I just ordered a big name GPS through Amazon hoping it will be on par with the older one we can no longer use. ... show more
