  • Solid feel and well made, with a few flaws
This is a rear-wheel drive scooter, and because all of the weight seems to be found toward the back of the scooter, it makes it a bit more awkward to lift and carry when i fold it and need to carry it somewhere. This feels like a well-built scooter. Every time I hit a bump or a large crack in the street, the scooter takes the shock in stride. It has a solid feel to it. The headlamp is okay, but it could be a bit brighter. Also, the way that the headlamp is mounted makes it impossible to aim straight forward, instead the light is always pointing down in front of the scooter. There are LED light on each side of the platform that illuminate it both day and night. I haven't found a way to turn them off - they're always on. You can turn the headlamp off and on, but the side lights stay on whenever the power is on. Also, there is NO rear light. Other scooters seem to come equipped with a red rear light or tail light or maybe a brake light. There are two modes available for operation: ECO mode and Pedestrian mode. ECO is the normal operating mode, but Pedestrian mode is supposed to max out at 3mph. In the few times that I've tried to use Pedestrian mode, it has been worthless. Unless you are going downhill or on a perfectly smooth flat surface, the power seems inadequate to bring this scooter to anywhere near 3mph. I don't bother using Pedestrian mode anymore. The brakes are a bit of a disappointment. Yes, they work okay and they do an acceptable job of slowing down, but the brakes want to squeak again and again. I've adjusted the brakes over 10 times, and sometime when i hit a bump, the brakes will begin grinding and making noise. Then if i just keep riding, the noise goes away after 5 or 10 seconds, but it seems to return when i hit another big bump. The speed and the range seem perfectly fair and accurate. And the solid tires do make the ride a bit more bumpy, they also require less care. I never have to inflate these tires. Ever. The platform on this scooter is excellent. It is probably the longest surface scooter that i have ridden. I'm tall, so I enjoy being able to have a wider stance, and this long platform allows for that. The motor seems to provide plenty of power and speed, but at times it seems to lack enough power. It's as though the power comes and goes. But overall, it has good power and I'm very satisfied. There is a cruise control feature which is completely unnecessary. And it does get a bit annoying. If you hold the throttle for about 7 seconds at a consistent speed, the cruise control automatically kicks in. Just hit the brake, or move the throttle and the cruise control turns off, but it always seems to turn on when I don't want it on. Overall, this seems like a well-built scooter with good speed, good range, and a great platform. I'm glad that I own this Gotrax scooter. ... show more

  • I can SCOOT!!!
As a 58 year old, not particularly athletic woman, I was a little hesitant to jump on the electric scooter bandwagon. But, glad I did!!! This scooter was a perfect compromise between being lightweight enough to get it in and out of the stairs and front entryway of my apartment building (must be carried), and powerful enough to make it up the steep hills in my neighborhood. I wasn't interested in setting speed records, and the 16 mile range is plenty for me. I definitely wanted something stable enough to be easy to learn to ride. I'm happy to report that it took almost no time at all to get comfortable on this scooter! Just one ride and I pretty much had it down pat. And if I can do it, ANYONE can!! It's easy to handle in traffic as you can stay stable going as slow as 2-3 mph, and quickly jump off to stop when needed. The brakes aren't at all a problem as some reviewers have said - the disc brake is on the rear so the scooter stays perfectly stable while braking, and I can easily stop or slow gradually. I was also very pleased that the scooter is rock stable going over bumps or small holes. The cruise control feature is very nice also...otherwise your right hand will start cramping up after several minutes. Max speed, I found, is around 10-12 mph on level ground, and about 7-8 mph going up shallow hills. The scooter has no problem at all with hills on regular city streets. There is a bike path with a couple of very steep climbs, with one getting up to a 30 degree incline. I had to get off and walk the scooter once, but that was only because of traffic on the path (and only people in skintight spandex and Italian racing bikes make it up there). I think it might have made it up the hill otherwise. I have no intention of trying to ride the scooter down that hill, brakes or no brakes. The battery range was maybe a bit less than advertised - I did a 5 mile round trip that included said hills near the end, and the battery was half full when I got home. So probably closer to 10 mile range with hills, but again, that's fine with me. Couple of annoyances with the scooter (but probably generic for all scooters). First, when walking it on a sidewalk or up a hill, the back swings sideways making that really difficult unless you fold it up and roll it like a handcart. Second, I wish there was a stand or something that would let me store this upright in my front hallway. For $300, this is a pretty decent machine. If not for the hills I would have preferred a lighter weight scooter, but given that situation this is probably the best I could have done without forking over more than twice the cash. ... show more

  • Great Product Support - Scooter is good so far (1 month)
Color: Matt Black
I recently purchased this electric scooter, and while the build quality looks decent, I ran into a major issue right out of the box. The folding/unlocking mechanism near the rear wheel is extremely difficult to release. The red latch remains stuck due to excessive tension. It took significant effort, including pushing the handlebar forward and wiggling the stem, just to get it to open. For a new product, this shouldn’t require that much force or trial-and-error. This could be very frustrating for first-time users, and there are no clear instructions provided to explain how to properly release the latch under tension. The manufacturer should improve the latch design or at least provide better instructions. When i reached out to GoTrax they said it will take 2 weeks to get a warranty support from Amazon. Initially, not a great first impression due to the locking mechanism issue. UPDATE: They reached out to me and got me the brand new scooter to my address. They were constantly checking with me about my experience with the scooter so far. And they assured me if I ran any issues - reach out to them and they'll start processing within a day. Really a very good product support. Now I am using the scooter. So far it's good. No concerns. Thank you GoTrax for the constant help/support. ... show more

  • Long lasting smooth ride
I bought this scooter 2 years ago, and it's still working like it did the first day. It still maintains its normal speed, and breaks still work. I recently got a flat tire, and when inquiring with the GoTrax support, they ended up sending me a free tire. I was asked to write this review on the product after they helped me out and I gladly agreed. Customer support was quick to respond and help through email and within about a week and a half I had my new tire. I will give a fair pro's and cons review still. Pros: -the battery lasts awhile. Riding into work in the morning and then back to where I parked after work is around 3 miles total trip every day. By the end of the day it's still usually above half unless I try and go up more uphill terrain. -the tires have been amazing. Other than big potholes I can't feel all the bumps and cracks, and the bigger tires mean I don't have to worry about getting caught up. The tire was hard to change but no more difficult than any other scooter it's just how it is. -having two speeds, I don't really use the 1st setting (max 10 mph) and really only use the 2nd setting (max 15 mph) - I weigh about 168 with my work gear and backpack, and the scooter still moves at full speed. (In the winter with my big coat I lost maybe 1 or 2 mph) -I live in Washington where it rains 90% of the year, and have never had issues with this scooter being wet from the rain. -I have a thumb injury, so the cruise control is nice, but it does have a negative (see cons) - as far as scooters go in this tier this one is really light, and I can carry up the stairs with one hand. It folds well. - I have had no issues with brakes. -was easy to assemble -the base us wide enough to fit my feet well even with work boots on. -charges quickly. -headlight is nice and bright can see far out ahead, though there is a dark spot right in front of the front tire. - can go through gravel, with some light pushing can also make it up hills. -has well set up ergonomics, all the controls are within reach while driving. Cons: -battery display seems inconsistent but I always see this in scooters. With the light on and cruise control the battery will drop to one bar, then if you turn all that off the battery will jump back up to 3/4 or even full. -the back fender gets slick in the rain if you need that brake, I added my own griptape to the top of it to help with that. -brake line took some adjustments for while, I think just how stretched it is. -the clip on the back fender to hook onto the handle bars when folding doesn't always lock in or stay locked it, it says adjustable but anyway I set mine I still had issues, I remedied this by wrapping the clip with the electrical tape and that works so the clip just isn't big enough to fully grab the hook after time (could be wear and tear?) -the cruise control is nice, but it says it takes about 10 seconds to kick in, which can be a problem if your riding for 10 seconds and have to stop and turn, then suddenly when you let off the trigger you're still going full speed. It is easy to disengage (by pressing throttle again or hitting the brakes) but that's probably the most dangerous issue I've faced, and would be nice if there was a dedicated button or switch by the left thumb to engage and disengage the cruise control. ... show more

  • Good scooter Good scooter
Color: Matt Black
This electric scooter is very nice and easy to use. I bought this for my family because everything around my neighborhood is quite spread out. The scooter was easy to assemble and looks pretty sleek while having a strong metal chassis. The ride can be a bit bumpy because the wheels don't have air in them, but it is manageable, and it moves pretty quick for something you can fold up. I love it and would highly recommend. ... show more

  • Bad scooter, extremely dangerous cruise control, every aspect of marketing is a lie
At 190 lbs, this thing is not a speed demon. After a few weeks of use, I can't recommend. SETUP: Very easy, but the wheels arrived deflated. You definitely need a bike pump. It doesn't come with one. The cruise control is extremely dangerous. It is controlled by holding the throttle down for a bit. The manual says it takes 10 seconds of throttle to engage CC but it is a lie. It can be activated by holding the throttle for as little as 4 seconds. It is an extremely dangerous feature. The cruise control should not be attached to the throttle. Someone will be seriously by unexpected acceleration and can be injured by this lie. The cover over the back wheel is very very flimsy, and it rattles and collides against the rear wheel as you go over bumps. It shakes and bumps against the rear wheel so badly. Every single bump is a humiliating rattle. The hook that holds the scooter when it is folded in half attaches into this flimsy cover so it usually just comes open if you try to hold it folded. Extremely low quality design. You literally cannot move it or carry it in the folded position because the attach point for the folded state is too filmsy. It just bends and comes open. One stars, because this flimsiness is unacceptable. It cannot be folded in half. I want to hold it and carry it in the folded state. Two more terrible observations. The speedometer is wrong and innacurate. It measures based off power application, not actual speed, so you can be barely cruising up hill at 2mph and it will say 15 mph. Inversely, you can be coasting down hill at 12mph and it will say 5mph. The power application is also uneven and unpredictable, barely associated with the throttle. Full throttle will result in an unpredictable power application. You can press the throttle down to max and it will suddenly jump after doing nothing. Sometimes full throttle is a weak little sputter, so you have to release the throttle and try again to get the full power application, which isn't much by the way. Finally the battery life is not as advertised. I weigh approximately 190 lbs and I mapped my route. It is 7.5 miles round trip and the battery is essentially depleted when I get home. The cruise control will kill people. The construction is shoddy. Do not buy this scooter if you value your life. ... show more

  • Impressed with this E Scooter
Color: Matt Black
I’m really impressed with this electric scooter! The build quality feels very solid and durable. The frame is sturdy and the materials don’t feel cheap at all.The battery life is great, I can ride it for a long distance on a single charge, which makes it perfect for daily commuting. Charging is also pretty quick. The scooter is very easy to use and the controls are simple. The display is clear and all the features work smoothly. Folding it for storage or transport is also very convenient. The speed is great for city riding. It accelerates smoothly and reaches a comfortable top speed 15mph without feeling unsafe. Overall performance is fantastic. The brakes are responsive. It’s reliable, fun to ride, and definitely worth the purchase. Highly recommended! ... show more
