I've had the Gotrax Eclipse Ultra 500W electric scooter for just one week, and we've been keeping it to fun test drives around the neighborhood and in the yard with the whole family. It's already a big hit—especially with our 10-year-old son, who handles it with zero problems. After a couple of short practice sessions in the driveway, he's riding it confidently and asks to take it out almost every day. The smooth power delivery and stable feel make it surprisingly forgiving for a kid while still being fun for the adults to hop on for quick spins. Early Impressions from Neighborhood & Yard Test Drives The 500W motor gives just the right amount of punch for casual riding—strong enough for gentle hills in our area but not so aggressive that it feels intimidating for our son. We keep it in the lower speed mode (around 15 mph) for him, and it still feels playful without being overwhelming. The 10" pneumatic tires paired with front and rear suspension are the standout for yard and neighborhood use: they soak up cracks, bumps, small potholes, and uneven grass really well, so rides stay comfortable instead of jarring. It's easy for the whole family to share (max load 264lbs covers everyone comfortably), and the wide deck gives good stability even for a newer rider. Braking (disc + EABS) feels responsive and secure, the digital display is simple to read, and folding it up is quick for moving it in and out of the garage. The rear cargo shelf has already come in handy for carrying a small backpack or water bottles on short loops. We haven't pushed it on longer commutes or tested the full claimed 32-mile range yet (real-world will depend on weight, hills, and speed), but after multiple family sessions the battery has held up great with plenty left at the end of an afternoon. It's UL2272 certified, which adds peace of mind when riding. A Few Early Notes -At around 55 lbs it's not super light, but the kids aren't carrying it far—we help with that. -It's been rock-solid so far with no issues after a week of daily short rides. -Price lands in the solid mid-tier range for what you get in features and build. Bottom line after one week of neighborhood and yard test drives: This scooter is working out really well as a family-friendly ride. It's comfortable, stable, and easy enough that our 10-year-old loves it, yet capable enough for the adults to enjoy too. We're excited to keep logging more miles and see how it performs on longer outings, but so far it's exactly what we hoped for—fun, reliable, and something the whole family can actually share without compromise. Highly recommend if you're looking for a 500W scooter for casual family or commuting use!

The media could not be loaded. This scooter is so easy to assemble. I wasn't sure how to adjust the handle height. However, it comes with instructions, and I put it together in less than 5 minutes. My boys are 5' 9" and 5' 10", and they rode it comfortably. The instruction book said 6.5 hours to charge, so I charged the battery overnight. It flashed red while charging and then turned solid green when done. For assembly, I connected one power cord, pushed the handle down, lined up the holes, and added 4 screws using the supplied allen wrench. The screw under the front light was the hardest to add. To unfold, I lifted up the steering column. I didn't need any tools for that part. The scooter is portable and stable. It is also moderate weight which adds to the durability. For safety, where your foot goes, there is anti-slip grip to help your feet stay. It has a small area to in the back where you can strap things. I love the black with blue light as a neutral color for a boy or girl. The display was hard to see in bright sun. The wheels look like they will last, and the grip is soft but firm. They have decent street tread. The blue LED lights are bold and bright, and they can be seen in the dark. The brakes work and it turns about as well as other scooters I've seen. The brakes make a loud squishy when compressed. I didn't notice the brakes getting hot. I am not really sure what "properly adjusted brakes" look, feel, or sound like. I love that there are no stickers. I will probably clean it with mild soapy water when needed. The electrical components aren't waterproof, so I'm not sure what I would do if caught in a surprise rain storm. My boys love riding up and down the hill on our cul-de-sacs. The display shows 20 mph down and 19 up. I'm assuming it is accurate. It has cruise control. You flick the throttle to switch between the three gears. It claims to go 38 miles on a charge. We will see. Wear a helmet always and add reflective gear if riding at night. My oldest took it in the grass and said the dual shocks handled the bumps well. The scooter is password protected and has to be moving to get started. You can disable the password if needed. This is a great value for the money. I recommend this for ages 13 and up. It is fast and fun. My two older boys say it's cool because it is so fast. They have abandoned their other scooters for this one.

This thing is junk. Has less than 20 miles on it but problems started nearly immediately. The motor assembly is now completely burned out but gotrax offers no replacement parts in stock and must purchase at full price. Watched their site for months but never showed available. Contacted them around 2 months ago just to request being placed on a waiting list. Still nothing. The thing is just a piece of scrap at this point.
