  • Very Fun Kart!
My girls absolutely love this little go-kart. On low speed it is very manageable and helps them get the hang of their steering as well as acceleration and reverse. The gas pedal functions also as the brake pedal much like mini modern-day electric vehicles whereas if you let off of the gas the electric motor will decelerate the vehicle. The build was pretty straightforward and easy for the most part and fun to do with my daughters, although the steering column screw install was a bit annoying, and some of the instructions could have been a touch more clear. The size is decent, though I'm not quite sure it could support up to a 12-year-old depending on how large they are. If they're a bit larger it can still work they would just have a good amount of knee bend. I'm 5'9" 215 and it supported my weight, though definitely not for my height, lol. My daughters are six and eight and they fit it well, my 8 year old is a good height and does have to bend her legs a bit. My 6yo is the one shown driving. The size and weight does make it easier for storage as well as transportation as we can throw it in the back of our Expedition with other chairs and a cooler and take it out to the park. It is incredibly fun to drive and on the high speed it can go pretty fast and the drifting is pretty sweet. So far the build quality seems solid and it has proven to be quite durable. I've been thinking of various ways to add removable traction to the wheels in order to create a more traditional driving experience along with the drift. While the drift driving is very fun, if there is any significant grade to the road, the hard plastic wheels will spin and you won't go much of anywhere. I knew the wheels were hard plastic from the beginning so this was expected. Overall at just under $300 I feel it is a pretty good value for the money as we have gotten other vehicles that were much slower, didn't have as much voltage, nor did they have dual motors for right around this $200-$300 mark. ... show more

  • Need head safety. Fun to take RV-ing with the littles.
This was harder to take out of the box than it was to assemble. I kid you not. This thing was packaged very seriously. It was a big bulky box, (see photo) I actually felt sorry for the mail man. This is something we have decided the kiddos needed helmets. Sorry, not sorry, but even though it doesn’t go super fast, it still go’s fast enough to cause injuries. I will not let our littles, or even our 14 year old, who weighs under 100 pounds use it without head gear. Also, we use adult supervision. I have seen head injuries in my life and rather be safe than sorry. That being noted on my opinions on safety. I will say, this was simple to assemble, because the instructions were clear. The go-cart seems durable enough to get through a few kids. It is a cool color red, and the kids say we need a green one now. (to have Mario and Luigi going on, lol) The kiddos love it, they had a lot of fun exploring the park. Especially since we took it with us camping at a rv park. They really got the full effect there; and the battery lasted pretty well, never died mid ride. We would charge it at the end of the day with our inverter and was charged when we got up the next day. Plus charging was convenient since we had it outside. I think it is quality enough to last through a few kids (maybe a new battery later) but a good value, especially compared to other electric kid vehicles. I am happy with it. I will update this review in a year if I ever find any issues. ... show more

  • Questions need to be addressed
The kart comes well packed. It took about 10-15 minutes to remove the pieces from the shipping container. Installation was relatively straight forward. The instructions were clear and complete. It took about 55 minutes to complete the assembly however for several of the steps I used some of my own tools rather than those provided. One note when mounting the steering wheel assembly onto the steering axle…be sure to insert the bolt in the direction specified in the instructions to ensure the locknut will tighten. The tires (pictures attached) are similar to those of big wheel toys but more heavy duty. Three concerns that kept the kart from earning a higher rating…1. The steering wheel linkage appears light weight for its intended use…2. Security warning no.9. “Rechargeable batteries should be removed from the Drift Kart before charging” (not sure of the intent or what that is suppose to accomplish)…3. Security warning no.13 “This product is primarily made of PP material. It can be used safely for two years.” (not sure what PP material is and does that mean this kart is unsafe after two years?). All three of these concern could easily be addressed. ... show more

  • Amazing
I got this electric go-kart for my daughter, and it has been a really fun addition to our outdoor activities. She was excited as soon as she saw it, and I like that it has a more substantial feel than some of the smaller ride-on toys. The design looks like a real little go-kart, which definitely adds to the excitement. The 300W motor gives it enough power to be entertaining without feeling ridiculously fast for a kids' go-kart. I also like having a reverse function because it makes maneuvering much easier when she gets into a tight spot. The larger front and rear wheels give it a sturdy feel, and the replaceable battery is a nice feature for the long term. What I like most is that it gives her something active to do outside instead of sitting around with a screen. She's able to drive around and have fun while getting some fresh air. The wide wheels also make it feel more substantial when riding over typical outdoor surfaces. Overall, this has been a really fun ride-on for outdoor play. It has a good combination of power, size, maneuverability, and kid-friendly features. The replaceable battery is a nice bonus, too. If you're looking for something more exciting than a basic ride-on toy for a child who's ready for an electric go-kart, this is definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Gotrax delivers again. Just keep in mind that weight affects range as much as age does.
Gotrax has earned a real reputation in our house and this go kart continues that track record. The build quality is solid, assembly is easy and it functions exactly as described right out of the box. From the moment it was put together and charged up it has been in constant demand which is the best sign a kids vehicle can give. One genuinely useful note for parents considering this. The range and performance are influenced by more than just your child's age. Weight matters a lot with electric karts because the motor and battery have to work harder to move a heavier rider over the same distance. A heavier child will get shorter range out of a charge than a lighter one will. For the size and what this kart is working with, the range is very reasonable once you factor that in. Setting that expectation correctly upfront makes the whole experience more enjoyable rather than surprising. The reverse mode is a feature kids appreciate more than you might expect because it makes maneuvering in tighter spaces much easier without needing adult help to redirect the kart. The puncture proof wheels mean zero maintenance worries and the forward and reverse controls are intuitive enough that kids get comfortable with them quickly. Another quality product from a brand that keeps delivering. ... show more

  • My Son Absolutely Loves This Go Kart!
I ordered this electric go kart for my son, and it has been a huge hit. He loves driving it and wants to get on it every chance he gets. It has enough speed to make the ride exciting without feeling excessive for a younger rider. The controls are straightforward, and I really like that it has both forward and reverse. Once my son got the hang of steering, he was able to maneuver it confidently on his own. The larger wheels feel sturdy, and not having to worry about flat tires is definitely a bonus. The battery gives him a good amount of riding time before it needs to be charged again. For us, that means plenty of time for him to enjoy himself without the fun ending too quickly. Pros: My son absolutely loves riding it Fun amount of speed for younger riders Forward and reverse make maneuvering easier Sturdy wheels with no tires to inflate Good riding time between charges Controls are easy to learn Great outdoor activity for kids Cons: None so far ... show more

  • Easy assembly but wheels could be better
This electric go-kart is a lot of fun and has a great sporty design. The controls are easy to get used to, and the speed feels quick enough to be exciting without being overwhelming for younger riders. I like the larger wheels and sturdy frame, and having reverse is a really nice feature for getting out of tight spots. The adjustable setup and replaceable battery also make it feel like something that can be enjoyed for a long time. My main concern is the wheels. After 5 minutes on our cul de sac there were pretty deep grooves from the roadway cut into the plastic. I haven’t checked yet but I’m holding they sell just the wheels separately as I don’t see these holding up for a long time before needing replacing. Overall, a fun outdoor ride that feels well built and offers a good balance of speed and control. ... show more

  • Fun concept that falls short on quality
Putting this together was a frustrating experience from the start. The instructions provided were quite poor, with unclear diagrams and labels that made the assembly process for the steering column and front axle much harder than it needed to be. While the frame is made of metal, a large portion of the construction feels like thin, flimsy plastic that does not justify the current price point. The rear battery compartment is particularly annoying because it keeps popping open while in use. Once we finally got it running, the performance was underwhelming. It handles smooth, flat pavement well enough for my kids, but any kind of incline makes the kart struggle significantly. Because the wheels are designed for drifting, they lack the traction needed for hills and end up just spinning and sputtering. To make matters worse, the plastic wheels are incredibly soft and started showing heavy wear after only a few minutes of use. It handles my 10 year old fine, but the lack of a braking system makes it feel unsafe, and the legroom is cramped even for my 8 year old. It feels like a glorified toy rather than a durable go kart, and it definitely needs a smoother surface than what most people have at home to survive for any length of time. ... show more
