    • 1st Fountain, Great; 2nd Fountain, Not So Great
UPDATE: Because the first fountain worked so well (see review below), I ordered a second, thinking that the pump would work as well. Unfortunately, it didn't. With the first one, I could hear the water trickling pretty loudly with the pump set midway. With the second one, I could barely hear anything, even with the pump on its highest setting. I guess the other one was just a fluke. So, I would give the first one five stars, but this one, only two. I'm returning the second one. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love fountains, and have owned many over the years. I missed having one so, about a year ago, I started looking for a small fountain. I ordered quite a few that I ended up having to return for one reason or another, but I just didn't want to give up. I've always liked the bigger outdoor lion's head fountains, so when I came across this desktop one, I decided to give it a try. My review is based on using this for only a couple of days, so if it starts going south on me, I'll come back and update. Likes: 1. Unlike so many other fountains, the pump is absolutely silent. 2. Instead of just two settings--high and low--this pump has an intermediate setting which is just right for the amount of water I wanted. 3. A big reason for getting a fountain is to hear the trickling water. On the intermediate pump setting, this fountain has a great sound that I can hear even when there's other noise in the house. However, if I wanted it to have a softer sound, I'd put it on the low setting. 4. The set up is very easy, and I had it up and running in a matter of seconds. Just make sure you have the pump attached to the tube very securely. Otherwise, you'll end up with water all over the place like I did! Fortunately, I've had enough experience with fountains to know to put something under it the first time, just in case of an accident. 5. Quite a few fountains splash water all over the place, but this one doesn't. Dislikes: 1. This is a very dark fountain, so unless it's in a brightly lit room, you can't see the lion's head. I think that could be fixed by positioning the LED light where it would highlight the head. Instead, it's in a place where you can barely see the light, much less anything else. However, I didn't dock it a star for this because I like the fountain so much. 2. Like most fountains, it doesn't have an on/off switch, so you have to plug and unplug it. However, to keep from having to do that, you can buy an extension cord with and on/off switch, or buy a plug that has a remote control switch, and that problem is solved. So far, I love this fountain. In fact, I ordered a similar fountain from this same brand so that I could have one in the bedroom, and one in the living room. To counteract the darkness of the fountain, I plan to paint the lion's head and trim and doesn't get wet so I can see everything better. However, that's going to be done only after I've had it for awhile, just to make sure I don't have to return it for any reason. ... show more
