  • Robust & Powerful.
Pricey, but IMHO, worth not being under A FT update control. I usually buy a A FT 10" HD, but in at least two incidents, I've had my FT fully loaded with my media, and vlc, only to arrive at a vacation spot, without wifi, and find amazon has removed vlc for some reason. I bought the Google Tablet, and the dock, to hopefully, get around this issue. My last vacation it worked perfectly. Tablet speakers are nice & provide spacial sound quality. Screen quality is exceptional, and under android control, has all the familiar setup & settings. Setup was easy, simply power it up for the first time, and follow the steps (avoid doing what I did, don't make any settings, or program installs UNTIL you complete the whole setup procedure, this includes ALL system updates needed (or you may have to do all your changes over again)). Provided cables are NOT for charging, only cable provided was for piggy-backing with another "oval" plug device (phone, etc...). If you have a newer FT, or a samsung phone, you may already have a oval plug charging cable, as I have a few myself. I was able to use these "extra" cables & outlet plug adapters until I got my dock (which does NOT use the same charging cable as the tablet). Speed is excellent, both in processing power, USB connectivity, and wi-fi. Uploading my media through the USB & another device (using Media Transfer Protocol) can be slow, but tolerable, and program installs, along with system updates through the wi-fi are pretty quick. Lastly, screen color quality is crisp and clean, watching movies & old episodes of favorite shows is a pleasure, which is mostly the reason for my wanting the tablet in the first place. One last detail, the FT usually comes with a SDHC chip reader, which allows you to use removable SDHC cards to supplement the memory, the Google Tablet appears NOT to have this, so if you plan on loading a lot of programs, or in my case, media, buy a Pixel with more memory. The tablet I bought had 8 GB system memory, with 256 GB internal memory. Long story short, I feel the price & value are well worth the quality, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. ... show more

  • I love it.
I absolutely love this tablet. As an avid Google user I am very happy. The functionality is fantastic, it looks and sounds amazing, the screen quality is great with vibrant colors, the battery lasts all day with heavy use, it doesn't weigh much at all and is very portable. For the money there isn't a better tablet on the market if you don't want to deal with Apple. Connects to WiFi quickly. Great value for a very useful tablet. ... show more

  • Awful, don't buy it!
We have constant issues with it. I would never buy a pixel tablet again. The touch screen is constantly having issues.

  • Good for the price
Lacks some of the features of the flagship Samsung's I used to have but I wanted something smaller. Works great with a pen you can also get on Amazon.

  • Ditch the Apple, get the Pixel.
Amazing. Infact I sold all my apple devices to replace them with Google pixel. For starter it's design is minimalist and so pleasing to look at. It feels good in my hands. It's not too heavy. I love all the little things I can do like custom split screen to fit my needs. It stores so much plus I can pay for the Google cloud thing for more. In my opinion it's better than an iPad at Half the price. So worth it! It's easy to run and use. Small enough to put in my purse but large enough to still see it and use it fully. I need the dock ASAP. ... show more

  • Not Google's best effort
Im finding this to be less excellent than I hoped in buying it to replace an IPAD since I operate primarily in Google. Its basically a tablet sized emulation of the Pixel phone (I have one) but with some annoying features, like the way its landscape display, which should be easier to read can be used most comfortably with a folding cover for typing) insists on a split screen instead of full screen format for reading my email and other . Its very difficult to follow the logic of where text or linked webpages will show up, it keeps switching back and forth. Also, while I had hoped to use this tablet for social media (the fact that more pictures can be uploaded to IG at one time than from the IPAD as well as the fact i was operating altogether in Google world and not across platforms) were perceived to be advantages) it turns out that usage for this purpose is infuriatingly clunky, since my pictures, which are routinely uploaded to Google's Cloud, have to be re-selected and downloaded again to the IPAD to be posted. This is as bad as working with photos from my Windows laptop where the pictures have to be downloaded from Google Photo to the laptop hard drive to be uploaded to social media or other apps I use WHY cant google create a better interface for this purpose between their products? Were it not for the advantage of the number of pictures that could be uploaded at one time, the IPAD is clearly superior since pictures from the google photo app can be edited on the IPAD and simply saved there to be used on social media uploads. finally, the fingerprint sensor is terrible - very hard to use. putting on the edge is a terrible idea, and facial recognition doesnt work yet. If Google wants to stay in this consumer electronics market they should be doing better. ... show more
