The Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) is a major upgrade over the previous generation! This is a top-tier indoor camera that delivers a premium experience, great functionality, flawless connectivity, and improved Night Vision! The Good: Seamless AI Integration: When paired with a Nest Aware subscription, the AI features are incredible. The summarized notifications that appear as GIFs on my phone are a game-changer for quickly checking on things without opening the full feed. Superior Quality: The image clarity is excellent, and the physical build feels even more premium than the last gen. Mounting Versatility: There are tons of interesting third-party mounting options available, making it easy to place exactly where you need it. Motion Detection: Works great, and lots of options to customize zones, and type of motion. The Not-So-Good: Subscription Dependent: The primary downside is that many of the "must-have" features—like AI summaries and 24/7 video history—are locked behind the Nest Aware subscription. Without it, the camera's utility is more limited.

Whether it's daytime or night, the image remains clear—with HDR helping to balance tricky lighting and the night vision giving crisp, usable monochrome footage. What really makes this camera feel “next level” are the AI-powered features. Google’s Gemini intelligence brings more meaningful alerts — the camera can distinguish between people, animals, and vehicles, so I’m not flooded with irrelevant motion notifications. The animated previews in the app are a very clever touch, helping you quickly see what triggered an alert. Setup was a breeze. The Google Home app walked me through the whole process step by step. You plug in the camera, scan the QR code, choose a room, and a few minutes later it's up and running. Having 24/7 live view available right away is great, too — no delays or complicated installation routines. I also love how well this integrates with the rest of my Google ecosystem. I set up this Google Nest Cam Indoor in the dining area of my apartment, angled toward my living room and my puppy’s crate, mainly so I can keep an eye on him when I’m at work or running errands. Setup was very easy and only took about five minutes. I had no issues connecting it to Wi-Fi or adding it to the Google Home app. Video quality looks good during the day, and the night vision is also clear enough to see what’s going on after dark. The two-way audio is clear and easy to understand, which is helpful if I want to talk to my puppy remotely. Motion alerts are generally reliable, though occasionally it will pick up motion from the TV if it’s on. Reviewing clips in the app is simple and straightforward. I already have a Nest Aware subscription for my doorbell camera, so adding this camera was easy, though I do wish more features were available without a subscription. Overall, this has been a solid indoor camera for pet monitoring and general home awareness. It works especially well if you’re already using other Google Nest devices.
