Description

How to choose the right garden pruner, Bypass or Anvil? - With a bypass cutting tool, you draw a curved or straight blade past another blade — this creates a scissor-like motion that works well for cutting live green plants. The spongy, firm outer wall surrounding the stem yields easily to that bypass motion.Such as our product GPPS-1002, GPPS-1003 and GPPS-1004. - With an anvil cutting tool, you bring down a straight blade against a wide anvil usually made of steel or hard rubber. Anvil pruners are better suited for dead and dried-out plants — the crushing motion causes the brittle stem to kind of explode and separate.Such as our product GPPS-1001 ,GPPS-1005 and GPPS-1011. How to use the ratcheting mechanism correctly? Simply cut into a tree limb, press once, release, press twice for 2X the power, release, press down a third time for 4X the power. The ratcheting mechanism latches onto the limb, increasing the power with each step and slicing through a branch with ease. • Update Review: pin came out holding g the handle together. Don’t buy!!
UPDATE REVIEW: I really loved these ratchet branch cutters until this past weekend. I was using them and they broke. The pin that holds them together came out and I couldn’t find it anywhere. There’s nothing “professional” as stated in the sellers description. Plastic handle and a pin that comes off isn’t professional. I’ve had this around a month or so. I don’t recommend this product!!!! These have a plastic handle so I’m not sure how long these will last but they work like a charm. Very light weight and easy to use. ... show more

  • WORST & DULL Pair of Shears I have ever owned!
I don’t mean to be over dramatic, they are a pair of shears…. that being said these things are terrible. Although the cutting blade is ostensibly sharp, the far side is plastic not metal. Thus when attempting to cut, despite the spring loaded power, it is unable to cut even the thinnest of paper in any kind of coherent manner. There is zero way of cutting a straight line at all. Even when trying to cut small branches, it fails again as the cutting blade wobbles as the plastic side fails to brace (or help cut) the branches. I wish I could return these shear but I am outside the return period so I am stuck with them. I guess this review will be the only satisfaction I will ever get from these things. ... show more

  • Don't waste your money!
I bought a pair of these to replace some that were similar but lost in a move. They worked great for one season...until a few weeks ago when the pin that holds the whole ratcheting mechanism fell out and was lost in the bushes. Since the company advertises a Lifetime Satisfaction Guarantee, contacted them and they were quick to send a replacement pair. So far, so good. Sadly, after only 2 days of using the new pair, the same thing happened! (see photo) I immediately contacted the company (again) and asked for my money back. Another quick response said they will; however, I haven't seen it yet. I really like how easily these cut through tough branches but there seems to be a manufacturing flaw. If they can get that pin to stay, I'd totally buy them again. But in the meantime, I won't waste my time or money. ... show more

  • Broke on First Use!
Really wanted to like these Pruning Shears, liked the way they felt when opened. However on first use, the shears would not trim anything over a quarter inch! Then the shears basically came apart in my hand, with parts on the ground. A total waste on money unfortunately! Hope others have better luck! Just sent mine to the trash dump! ... show more

  • They are terrible! Unsusable!
i would NEVER buy these again. They are so bad, they don't even CUT. Once you open them they do not re-lock. The only part of the bald that cut was right at the bottom. The edges just mangled the stems. They are so bad, it's not worth my effort to return them.

  • Borderline Useless
I was finally able to get out and clean up the yard this spring and give this pruner a try and discovered that it was awkward to use. It does not fit my hand at all and I would not call it egonomic. To make it worse, if that was possible, the dinky little safety lock was designed by someone who does not garden. It works with a bit of difficulty when it is clean, but when it is used in the garden under real conditions, it easily gets filled with dirt and becomes unuseable so it sits completely open in my garden tote tray. Florian rachet pruners were still the best. Too bad they are no longer available. ... show more

  • CHEAP!! Faulty ratching mechanism. Broke before cutting even one blade!!!
This is our SECOND PAIR of these pruners. I liked how easy the ratcheting part was on my hands, but our first one broke after just a few months. Ordered a replacement and these ARRIVED BROKEN -- It seems the screw or whatever holds the ratcheting mechanism together is very very weak. I tried to trim the leaves on a lily that was overgrowing the walking path and it BROKE right away. Didn't even complete the cut. Then, after it breaks like this, you can't open the blades without prying them apart. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I thought we were saving money--but go with the $40 clippers, not these. ... show more

  • Broke the 2nd time used
I do not write bad reviews, but this one deserves it. The second time they were used the closing mechanism would not line up with the lock so clippers are not able to cut at all. They are in an unlock position and cannot be repaired for use. Do not buy this kind of shears because I don't think the Ratcheting Mechanism is correct. (I am a few days after return is allowed, but this happened weeks ago-my bad) ... show more
