  • a new sense of freedom.
Actually, we opted for this scooter in red. Very sporty! Very happy with product and very happy with the company that provided it. I contacted Top Mobility before ordering. They were very helpful. Scooter was expected to be delivered in 4-7 days but actually arrived in 2 days, very well protected and ready to uncrate ;and assemble. There was no assembly diagram included with it. The only assembly help came from the owner's manual although I'm sure Top Mobility would have answered any questions we had about assembly. Even so, in about an hour we had it ready to take it for a spin around the yard. Pros: Seat rotates for easy entry. Tiller is adjustable for comfortable reach. Enough power for grass and grades as well as sidewalks and streets. Cons: Battery charger is a separate accessory. If you need to charge batteries elsewhere, you will need to bring the charging unit with you. No assembly diagram. We are very happy with it and recommend it. It has given us a new sense of freedom. ... show more

  • Great power and battery, some issues with design
Purchased for a work platform for yardwork, gets over soft lawn easily, battery lasts forever and it is very stable. Scooter has some issues of scale, it's designed for up to 500#, I weigh 220# at 5'10". Issues I have at my size. 1. Armrests are too wide at minimum adjustment, can't use them, made for a wider person. 2. Seat is too far back, again made for a larger person. 3. With tiller tipped in far enough to reach, armrests actuate throttle fully when seat is rotated, scary. Happy with the scooter except as noted. ... show more

  • Money pit
I have had two Golden Avenger scooters from Golden Tech. The first I received in October 2013 issued by the VA. The second issued again by the VA in February 2018 after they condemned the first one. At first the scooter was a godsend. I was able to get out of my house and get outside, work in the yard, get around the neighborhood. Do Somethings my serviced connected disabilities didn’t allow. However after a few short months I found I was in the VA for repairs constantly. Batteries didn’t last, chargers wouldn’t charge, the transaxle would start to make noises or wobbled. Seems it would bend easily from the bumps I traversed on the city sidewalks. I’d have constant electrical issues, it would be in the garage and just start beeping. It is very sensitive to any kind of moisture, even high humidity. The dash board was replaced in my first scooter more than 6 times. The scooter would completely shut down at the most inconvenient times. Several times in the middle of intersections. I saw the invoices for repairs when I’d travel and it broke down. They totaled over $10k! For a $3k scooter. This didn’t include the time and parts to repair it at my VA. Our tax dollars at work. After the VA figured it had spent enough on this lemon, they condemned it and gave me a new one, another lemon! I’ve had the new one for about 17 months. In that time I’ve had four sets of batteries replaced, the dash board replaced - twice, a new seat, a new transaxle, and the entire electrical system and parts replaced. The VA originally gave me a choice between a power chair or a scooter, I’ve regretted the scooter almost since the beginning. Knowing what I know now I would not purchase the Golden Avenger scooter, I would not recommend it to anyone, and I’d give it a lower rating if I could. I could go on about my experiences with the Golden Avenger and how I ended up in the ER and received 28 stitches from a design flaw. However, I’ve given enough information to help in your decision to purchase or not. I will say that I have a 10 yr old Drive Osprey, that I got three years ago as a backup to the Golden Avenger. In that time I’ve replaced the batteries once last summer. It’s a better riding machine, that cost me $650 on Craigslist! ... show more

  • runs like a charm, easy to use
Like this scooter very much. It's heavy that give you the feeling of being safe when on it. Love the silver color. Once you know the ins and outs, it is easy to use.

  • Great Scooter. This is my 4th scooter but my FIRST Golden Avenger. It's a model GA 541.
First --- VA will replace DME every 7-years or if beyond economical repair, sooner. This is the best scooter I've had, it supports my weight, takes me through all types of terrain, and has safety equipment such as a seat belt, lights, horn, turn signals, 4-way flashers, and an immediate reaction electronic brake. In the 6-years of having this scooter, I'm presently on my 3rd set of batteries, which is below normal and the electronic's board had to be replaced after being caught in a heavy rainstorm without a plastic bag to cover the tiller. As with any piece of equipment, attention to maintenance will make the investment last. ... show more
