Description

The Gold Tone BG-150F brings the beautiful appearance of the great pre-WWII banjos to a new, lower price point. This banjo offers the player the lovely hearts-and-flowers fretboard inlay and the fully-bound neck and fourteen-inch resonator of the Gold Tone BG-250F combined with lightweight playing comfort (made possible by installing a quarter-inch brass-rod tone ring rather than the nearly three-pound bell brass ring in the BG-250F). Little is lost in sound quality or power, and long gigs played standing up become much more bearable. Comes with a gig bag! Available as left-handed model.

  • Great Value
The banjo was shipped in great condition and well set up. It sounds and plays like instruments costing 2 and 3 times as much.

  • Solid construction, beautiful instrument
This is my first banjo, but I play guitar and mando. The construction feels solid, intonation is spot on. No rattles or buzzing. It holds its tune. Now, I just need to get my fingers to hit the strings my mind is imagining! Seller got it here quickly.

  • Beautiful Detail, has a nice ring!
Practiced on my Gold Tone for the first time last night and It sounded great. Everything on it looks of quality. When I was shopping around I wanted to make sure that I bought an American made instrument. I noticed that Gold Tone was out of Florida so I figured it must be American made. Last night when I picked it up and went to tuning the instrument I noticed a gold sticker on the neck of the banjo that said "Made in China". My heart sank a bit, I know enough about Chinese made products not to purchase them when I can, they lack the quality control practices that other developed counties require. That being said, Gold Tone is reputable and I don't believe they would purchase low quality products so I am putting my faith in their decisions. ... show more

  • If the warm sound of this banjo isn't already stellar ...
If the warm sound of this banjo isn't already stellar, it's looks are enough to light up any place it's on display. Has many features (other's have talked about) that are often found in instruments several hundred dollars - and in some cases a thousand or more. Well worth the money.

  • Exceeded my expectations
After a 40+ year hiatus from Bluegrass banjo I was inspired to relearn the instrument (Steve Martin) and exercise my brain and finger memory in these, my "Sunset Years." This was the best value for my budget. A bit more money than most beginners would spend, but this BG-150F is a keeper for the foreseeable future. , The fret and neck action is set up and playable right out of the box. Though not of domestic manufacture, this Florida, family-owned, Goldtone standard of quality, fit and finish is quite evident. ... show more
