We live in an area that is subject to power outages during fire season (so. cal) and recently had strong Santa Ana winds knock a tree down which damaged electrical lines resulting in our power being out for almost 24 hours. I did not like having to use flashlights and candles for lighting. especially candles due to the danger of open flames. As soon as the power was back on I started shopping for rechargeable led lanterns, and quickly found these. They are just the right size, have a rechargeable battery in addition to a place to put 3 aa batteries in the base in case you are unable to recharge it. The magnetic base ( stuck it on the refrigerator sideways with no problem), is very handy to have. The lantern comes on when it is opened, so no fumbling in the dark for a switch. I use them on my boat when fishing at night. I used them continuous for 4 hours and they did not dim out and had plenty of life left. They charge up quickly, provide ample light for what I use them for and handy during a power outage.

First time I got the order one of the lanterns would not charge. The light would not ever change showing it charged and no light. The changed lights worked great at first. But when I had to charge them the 2nd time one of the lights showed it was charged but the light was a dim as before I charged it. I even tried the other charging cord. ... show more
