  • The dog loves it, but I am not so sure
I rented this 4 wheel scooter to see if I would want to buy this model. I need a scooter to exercise my service Standard Poodle and for mobility problems. I stopped going to conventions, auto shows, etc, because I couldn't do the distance. Airports are the pits. So I thought about getting a scooter which allows my dog to travel faster than I can walk and at a sustained pace, so he gets a pretty good work-out. The fastest this scooter goes is about 4 MPH, however, and that's just an easy trot for my dog. In order for him to get a really good work-out, it takes longer. I use the horn to notify him that the scooter is about to move. It doesn't sound like a horn, more like a buzz, so wonder if people would pay any attention to it. 4 MPH is way fast enough for most purposes. It's faster than most people walk. It has no lights, so shouldn't be used at night. However, the indicator lights for the battery are so bright, that they interfere with forward vision. Coming home after dark, it is difficult to see the sidewalk ahead over them. It rolls over bumps in the sidewalk and grass very well, even at the faster speed, tho' things in the basket jump around a bit (as well as me). It is super going up hills and overpasses and has no problem crossing streets. While the turning radius is greater than the 3 wheel models, I thought it did very well and could easily be used for airports, conventions, hotels, etc. Southwest Airlines says they have no weight limit for mobility scooters, so this should travel well on planes. The scooter does not stop instantly when the throttle is released. It continues to roll, which is good for the rider, but not good when the dog decides to run in front of it or you are too close to an obstacle! It has no front bumper, either, so the basket takes the brunt of it. Also, it is difficult to reach the speed dial and the throttle at the same time, while steering with one hand. Slowing down or speeding up takes some finger/hand/brain coordination, if you don't want to come to a stop. The throttle can't be used to maintain a speed as it wants to go to the set speed immediately. Once the dog can be trusted not to run in front of the scooter, I can use two hands, but if you have only one good hand to use, it is a challenge. There are dog leashes made to attach to bicycles, which keeps the dog from impacting the bike. It might be adaptable to a scooter. Otherwise, I loop the leash over the arm rest and hold onto his harness, so we won't get hurt. The ride is bumpy and the seat is uncomfortable on sidewalks, nice on smooth surfaces. There is not much padding on the seat or back or arms. There is an opening between the seat and the back, so a pillow would have to have attachments to keep it from falling through. However, the swivel seat and the arms that raise are handy features. The seat raises for more leg room and there is a place for your feet on the front fender. It isn't easy to adjust the front steering post while on the scooter. I have to get off to do it. It's heavy for me to push up an incline and getting through gates is a challenge. It seems to go a long way on a charge. I haven't tried to take it apart or transport it. If I didn't have the dog, I could be very happy with this scooter. ... show more

  • Watch medical department stores for delivery
I ordered my scooter because of an accident. I needed it to get around. I picked the one that had fast shipping. It was Medical Department Stores. I correctly fill out the shipping label. Medical Department Stores orders from the manufacturer direct and they ship it out. The shipping label was not copied correctly by Medical department Stores or manufactuer and the scooter was lost in a warehouse. It's been 20 days from order and I have not recieved it yet. I have been told it has been found and is on it's way. Maybe you will have better luck. ... show more

  • Very Nice! feels solid to drive it.
I just got my first ever scooter, and even with several surgeries, in my past, I had no problem putting it together, lifting the heaviest piece was not a real strain. I put it together, turned the key, and I drove it right off!!! freedom!

Really fast shipping, easy to put together, took longer to get it all out of the box than putting it together. My dad loves it, it drives on the grass as well as on gravel. Great little scooter

  • my 2 cents worth, both the good & the bad
I've had the Go-Go Elite Traveler for 3 months now & truly love it. I did not purchase it from Amazon however wanted to share my feelings as I rely on Amazon reviews when researching a new product. The unit dis-assembles into 4 easy to manage pieces that lift easily into the back of my SUV. At 40 lbs. for the heaviest piece fits within my personal weight limits & has secure lift points. I chose the Go-Go Elite Traveler because I am having more trouble walking & after an hour or so my legs & feet bother me so much that I don't enjoy myself. I do trade shows, conventions & museums so it was discouraging to travel to an event & then have to leave before I had seen the whole show. The Go-Go Elite Travler has proved to be the answer. It's easy to unload & all facilities are ADA equipped. I was concerned that @ a busy convention, people would find the scooter objectionable but that has never been the case. Everyone is more than helpful. My Go-Go has been in 8 different states & allowed me to do events that I could not have experienced/enjoyed without it. I have equipped my homes with ramps so that I can drive in & out. The unit has very little ground clearance 1 1/2" under the lowest part. It will not clear a standard sliding door threshold without a thick mat or fairing. With no suspension of any kind it is very bumpy on the groves on a standard sidewalk. Mine will run for over 5 hours on a full charge & I've run it continually for 3 hours. The seat is very comfortable & swivels giving you added access to things you may be doing. A standard small barbeque cover works excellent for $10.00 if you need to leave it outside or transport it on a trailer or lift. So; that's my 2 cents worth, both the good & the bad; I'm very impressed for the cost. James ... show more
