Theres 2 reasons this is only a 4. 1) You can only set the timer and change the color with the remote. 2) The beep that occurs when every you hit any button is ridiculously and unnecessarily loud. I will be disconnecting the speaker or something soon because its so loud. Other than that the unit is great, to be fair i havent used the heat much as its summer here but thats not really the main reason i bought it anyway. The colors are cool, the features all work as you would expect, the flame looks "real" or at least good enough. Make sure you find both bags of crystals in the box as i found the 2nd bag while breaking down the box to recycle it. Looks way better with both bags of crystals in there. Anyway, would recommend. Measurements (i got the 40") listed in the pictures were accurate, which was good since i build the pictured console before the fireplace arrived. Install is super easy. Edit: so the speaker is hard soldered to the circuit board, it's a small black cylinder with a hole in it. Heres what I did to get the beep to be about 10% of what it was. Lay the unit on the glass front side. Remove the screws of the back panel. The center of the panel is mildly adhered with a piece of double sideed foam tape so just slowly peel the panel off. Once open the speaker is in what would be the top right corner of the unit. I cut a small piece of the foam tape off and jammed pieces of it into the speaker hole with a toothpick and then put one piece of tape over the hole. This took 90% of the beep volume away. Super glue into the hole would work too, I just didn't have any. Good luck! ... show more

I KEPT INQUIRING ABOUT IT AND NEVER DID GET AN ANSWER I COULD DEPEND ON. ONE OWNER SAID YES IT DID ANOTHER SAID NO IT DOESN'T. COULD BUY ONE WITH BOTH BUT ONLY WALL MOUNTED, SINCE I'M SELLING MY HOUSE I DID NOT WANT TO REPAIR A HOLE AND REPAINT AGAIN AND TAKE IT WITH ME WHEN I MOVE. THEN I HEARD I COULD GET ONE THAT IS WALL MOUNTED BUT, LEGS COULD BE PURCHASED TO GO ON IT. NEVER WAS ABLE TO GET THE ONE I REALLY WANTED. SO, THEY NEED TO WORK ON THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS. It seems that we originally received one of the few "fireplaces" that was defective. It was an unfortunate situation, for sure. What is AMAZING is that this company, which is based in China responded to our "issue" (and I am a guy that HATES complaining...but I had too) like they were located in my town. "Grace" took the issue as "urgent." She took action immediately to remedy our situation. We had a contractor build the most beautiful mantle, custom for this fireplace box. Even with the initial challenge, we HAD TO BUY this same fireplace, again. As impressed as we were with the Fireplace (when we were shopping/comparing), we are MORE impressed with this COMPANY and GRACE at the way they stand behind their product. Yes, we all know that sometimes things do not always work out as planned, however to see this company, from so far away, rally to make this situation GOLDEN is impressive. YES! - BUY - BUY - BUY from this amazing place - WE LOVE LOVE LOVE our FIREPLACE....the stockings have already been hung for Santa......Thank you GRACE.     • Excellent Customer Service
I bought the fireplace and it worked well until the remote stopped working. Contacted the seller and they sent me a new remote. However, what I realized was, when the fireplace has been turned off overnight, the old remote worked in the morning, but stopped working later in the day. Same happened with the new remote. Now, the fireplace smells like burning plastic when it's operational, so I have turned it off. I've contacted the seller, but I haven't heard back yet. Update, the seller is sending me a new fireplace. The customer service has been excellent. I have change my review to 4 stars. I will us e the new fireplace and as long as I don't have problems, I will probably update to 5 stars. It's a great fireplace! ... show more

The fireplace is solidly constructed, and works well. I have no concerns about mounting it recessed, and the posted measurements are accurate. The buttons are arraigned on the remote in an order that it is easy to remember. The fake gas flame display looks good. I had a question for their customer service, and I heard back in a day. Two things to note. One is that you can't have heat without the flame display being on. Second is that the unit does not remember the flame color and brightness from the previous use. Neither of these lessen my pleasure with the unit. Very happy. ... show more

I highly recommend this Fireplace, It is easy to install and gives out good heat. But above all I am very pleased and Content with the customer Service. Had a little bit of issue but was swiftly and smoothly resolved by Grace from the customer support team who was very helpful and understanding.
