This fixture is exactly what I wanted. I do not understand why so many light fixtures they sell these days are enclosed because both LED and CFL bulbs tend to overheat and burn out in enclosed fixtures. Because this fixture allows excellent air flow, I plan to use 100-watt equivalent LED or CFL bulbs in rooms that need more light. The fixture can handle 60-watt incandescent bulbs, so any LED or CFL bulb should work fine. Larger bulbs fit just fine in this fixture. The dome is actually bigger than it looks in some of the pictures. I have included a picture of the lamp with both 100-watt equivalent LED and CFL bulbs. The LED bulb is size A21. The much smaller bulb on the floor is a standard 60-watt equivalent LED bulb, and even that bulb is identified on the box as an A19. Installation was more difficult than it should have been. With my electrical outlet boxes, the outlet box screws that hold the mounting strip to the outlet box interfere with the mounting screws that go through the canopy. The mounting strip should be wider to allow more distance between the screw holes. I solved this problem by attaching 2 mounting strips together in an "X" shape. This required cutting a small piece of threaded tubing and using it to screw 2 mounting strips together through the center hole. I attached some other old mounting strips together by drilling holes in them and using short machine screws. If you try this, be sure to leave the hole open in the middle of the mounting strips because the wires need to go through the hole. Another solution that could work is to cut off the heads off the mounting screws. ... show more

First off, the globe is transparent, not solid white frosted glass as depicted in the photos. Not happy about that. Secondly, be aware that the decorative nickel washers that hold the globe in place are different colors (see picture). I chose to use one washer, so doesn’t matter to me. Thirdly, there is a nick in the globe. With all that said, I’m keeping the light. In the end, it works for me. The price, and quality overrides the hiccups.     • Difficult To Install

The light itself is fine. It's not a high end light by any means but it looks good and does it's job. My complaint is with the installation bracket. Most of these type lights have a bracket that is made up of 2 pieces of medal attached in the middle and they can be parallel or perpendicular to each other. This light has one bracket with holes to mount it to the ceiling box and 2 screws facing downward to attach to the light. The issue is that the screws are too long and threading them up into the box is impossible because the head of the screw interferes with the mounting holes in the ceiling box. I ended up cutting off the screw heads to provide some room. You could also shorten the screws by cutting them after you determine the correctly length to match the small closed nuts that show on the outside of the light. All in all I'm happy with the price and the quality but they need to rethink the mounting brackets for round plastic ceiling boxes. ... show more

Is it too much to ask for an adjustable attachment bar? Older homes have plastic round boxes and what you buy at the big box stores, have two holes each side for the bar to attach too. In the case of this light, they only send a single bar with two screws adjustable for the depth of the box, to adjust the depth of the metal cover to be snug to the ceiling. Where they fail is the single bad allows for no upward adjustment if the box is flush to the surface, as there is no where for the adjustable screws to go up. The lights have a classic, yet modern, look making they work well with various decors. As another reviewer has stated, the glass isn't "white" but frosted. When they are on, however, they pretty much appear white. But I agree that the photo on Amazon is misleading. Amazon asks for a "brightness" rating. Brightness depends on the type of bulb you install. I used warm LEDs. The lights are certainly worth the price. Whether they hold up, who knows? One thing I didn't think about is that they will be collecting dust and bugs because the bowl is open. I try never to buy lights like this because of that, but, sigh, I did this time! ... show more

This light comes with no instructions and is nearly impossible to get onto the ceiling. Once it's up, pray that the light bulbs don't go out because there's no easy way to change them. Hope you have a really tall ladder and child sized hands, not to mention the visible part of the light on the bottom is just white cardstock 👎 ... show more

The set up to hang the globe could be better but with a little planning it works. Fastened the hardware to the globe and then screwed it into the threads on the light assembly. The existing electrical boxes made installation easier-for once. Screwing the pieces together was good design engineering-IMHO. The quality is pretty good and the 2 bulbs(3 units in a row) give off copious amounts of light in the kitchen. Vast improvement. Never having to change the bulbs would be icing on the cake. Wishful thinking. I ordered one more unit then what were replaced based on reviews which maybe influenced better quality control. Will use the extra in another location. ... show more

This is an absolutely gorgeous light. It looks MUCH more expensive than it is. I had been looking for a fixture with crossbars and was thrilled to find one from globe electric. In addition to the style the emit, the bars also cover the seam of the drum shade itself. I also love that it has a diffuser and is a 3 bulb fixture. It would fit in with many different styles. Goodbye boob light. It was slightly tricky to line up the machine screws, but I think all semi-flush mounts are this way. ... show more
