I have a $200+ Luxo clamp-on work light and while it's obviously taller/longer and more robust, this light is no slouch. If "Glove Electric" made a larger version with a double tube lamp they would destroy the draft light market. I was planning on returning this after I found the Luxo, but I like it so much I will be keeping it. The weight to strength ratio is well balanced and it can't be beat around $20. Only downside is the plastic tension knobs. Increase price by $2, put on some metal knobs and you have a winner. Might get another one for the garage ... show more

I love this lamp - it does exactly what I need. It provides a bright light on my desk workspace after the sun goes down. The clamp is solid and works perfectly on my 5/8 inch thick bamboo desk surface. I use a 15 watt, 1600 lumen, full spectrum LED bulb (5000K) for a bright, white light. I like small plants and need a real lamp for a 60w plant light bulb, because most other options are ugly. This is that same desk lamp from the 90s, simple baked on paint, good range of motion, and reasonably tight - decent construction nowadays. If there WAS another option, I’d buy this again.

I liked this lamp a lot. It was easy to put together and, you know, gave light when plugged in, like hood lamps do. But I used it to shine one direction half the time and another direction the other half, and the plastic piece that holds it together gave out fairly soon. I could put the lamp piece back in and it would usually stay if not adjusted. But that kind of defeats the purpose of this type of lamp. ... show more
