  • Good cabinet, good deal.
Style: 2 Door Pattern Name: Cabinet
Would purchase again. Good cabinet and better priced than stores that I checked.

  • Good roll-around stand for a drill press
Style: 3 Door Pattern Name: Cabinet
I bought this unit to be a roll-around stand for a 12" drill press, and I purchased the Ready-to-Assemble Modular GearBox Caster Kit to go with it, and it has worked out reasonably well. I'm satisfied with it and will likely buy other Gladiator units in the future (probably the workbench and drawer units). The entire cabinet is rated to hold 300 lbs and it supports my 85 lb drill press plus 12 lb drill press vice easily and still rolls smoothly, the castors roll & swivel smoothly, and the drawer and doors open and close correctly - nothing has warped or bent. I have several pounds of drill bits in the drawer, and am uncertain what I may use the cabinet space for. The cabinet has only a single box-channel reinforcement beneath the top surface, which I mistrust would hold the weight of the drill press concentrated in the center of the cabinet top. So, I covered the top with a piece of 1/2" particle board which both protects the painted surface from scuffs & scrapes and distributes the weight more across the entire cabinet top. I've seen no evidence of warping, bending, etc. The drawer is 7 1/2" deep which accommodates vertically stored drill bits, bottles of cutting oil, and large bits such as for cutting holes. The corners of the floor of the cabinet are obstructed by the nuts which fasten the casters. Also, the bolts are a 1/4 inch too short, threading only maybe 1/8" into the nuts on the inside. Given most of the strain will be vertical and compressive and not shear or torque, this is probably not critical. But a better design would be longer carriage bolts from the inside that protrude downward to the underside to accept nuts at the casters. This would be stronger and more effective use of cabinet floor space. I would also like wheel locks on the two swivel casters (the fixed casters do have locks) to better immobilize the cabinet after being rolled into position. I "store" my cabinet and drill press in a corner and roll it out for use. Assembly was straightforward with one minor workaround. The threads in the sheet metal panels were either inadequately cut or had filled with paint, and to avoid risk of stripping I had to clean all the female threads with a #10-24 tap. The screws then threaded in quickly and straight without binding or stripping. As an earlier reviewer noted, lining up the doors perfectly took some patience, and more adjustment length in the hinge alignment slots would help. When I first began, I was disappointed the panel sheet metal wasn't thicker and I was concerned about structural strength, but after completing assembly I'm satisfied that it is adequately fastened together at enough points and all the panels reinforce and brace each other adequately at least for my purposes, which are only ~100 to 125 lbs. I'd be hesitant to trust 300lbs on it, however. The paint finish is excellent, it is thick and hard (though I'm sure it will scratch as will all paint finishes), but I doubt this one will flake off and I saw no flaws. The shipment packaging is *perfect*. All the parts were protected from each other by multi-layered form-fitted styrofoam inserts and trays and a very heavy cardboard box. Though the exterior of the box showed the usual signs of rough treatment, the internal packing materials were intact and all parts undamaged and perfect. I really appreciate when a manufacturer goes to all necessary lengths to protect *my* purchase from damage. Amazon shipped it in the manufacturer's box. My biggest disappointment was I wanted an additional shelf, which Gladiator priced at $51 plus S+H, which is almost 1/3 of the entire product price on Amazon!!!. There are only 3 positions for the single shelf shipped with the product, and while the cabinet volume is spacious, an additional shelf would have made utilization of that volume more convenient and efficient, at least for me. All-in-all a good, cost-effective, attractive product, but 1 star deduction for excessive pricing of extra parts. ... show more

  • Definitely a China product - be prepared to do some extra work!!!!
Style: 2 Door Pattern Name: Cabinet
To begin with, I normally read lots of the reviews before making a decision on purchases. In this case, I saw the predominant message was that it had to be redrilled to fit. Needless to say, I needed that size and have had some success with Gladiator products (namely their table - it's awesome!) in the past. So, against my better judgement, I purchased it anyways. That said, I put the sides and top/bottom together without a hitch. Then came the back. It was a 2 piece back that connected in the middle of the cabinet I had to force the back into place which slightly dented the lower left part of the back. Keep in mind, I did NOT tighten any of the main screws to make sure that there was enough play for the back to fit properly....well, it didn't. Once I forced it into place, 12 of the 16 screws lined up but 4 holes had to be drilled to finish up the assembly. Once in place, I tightened all of the screws and it worked out ok. I added the doors, and with all of the adjustment I made, the lock assembly would not work as the shelf was a bit too low for the lock to engage. II will try to modify the lock by cutting off part of it so it fits - I wasn't that ambitious last night though. All in all, if you are handy and can make some modifications to the product, it looks like it will work. Pain in the rear, but workable. It's really not worth the price of the extra effort though. I probably wouldn't buy it again. As an aside, there is really no way of sending it back once you start the assembly as it requires literally destroying the cardboard box to get it out. So, word of advise, if you get it, be prepared to do some extra work cause you're stuck with it!!! ... show more

  • Nice unit but bottom panel needs to be redesigned
Style: 3 Door Pattern Name: Cabinet
I like the cabinet overall. It's study and I also ordered the wooden top, which makes a good work surface. The instructions are contradictory and it turned out that the bottom panel is designed up side down. So the instructions are half right. Customer service was helpful. Apparently this is a long time known issue and they sent a new bottom panel no questions asked, and at no cost. It must be cheaper to just ship that than to fix the issue at the factory. ... show more

  • Durable, Good Looking Garage Storage.
Style: 3 Door Pattern Name: Cabinet
I ordered these Gladiator GarageWorks components as part of re-making my garage. I bought a lot of them new, and some of them from the Amazon Warehouse. When you first open the packaging, I actually laughed because everything seems very light weight and actually can easily be bent. Most of the time any of the little bends are easy to straighten back out. The strength of these items is in the final assembled product. Basically, the whole is greater than any one part. Once it is assembled it’s quite durable. However, keep in mind that the instructions must be followed very closely if not, you’ll be frustrated as you got to take apart some stuff to make it line up right. I put it in my garage with some of the other ones I have and loaded the bottom part with some of my power tools and other “larger” components. The drawer’s ball bearings are nice, they slide easily, and seems to work just fine with a lot of weight in them. The top has some sockets where you can put in the topper. I thought about getting the bamboo tops for it to match the two work benches I got, and the bench, but they’re a little pricey. Also if you have an IKEA nearby, you can get a butcher block top there and cut it to size  Hope this review helps. I was very happy with the purchase, just don’t judge it when you first open it, the strength of the product comes when you build it. ... show more

  • How lucky was I to buy a so called scratch and dent
Style: 2 Door Pattern Name: Cabinet
Knowing how Gladiator packages their products, it was a no brainer for me to buy a damaged package. The product is well designed and sturdy and I have to say pretty easy to build. Even if you have to pay full price, it’s worth it. Casters are separate and so is the wood insert. Highly recommended
