  • High quality router! Check OpenWRT compatibility list though if you want vanilla OpenWRT
Very fast. I get an absolutely solid connection that penetrates all areas of my double wide trailer home and most of the surrounding yard as well. The firmware is super easy to set up and well polished. The only knock I have isn't even the fault of the router itself. I kinda thought I could flash it with vanilla OpenWRT firmware, but this model is NOT currently supported by OpenWRT for the vanilla software so you will have to use the stock firmware that comes on device. I can't hold it against them though because it sounds like it isn't their fault and the current firmware is likely to be supported for a long time. I hope the current US "Router bans" get brushed aside eventually so that I can go with this brand again for my next router in a few years, but maybe I'll check the OpenWRT compatibility list next time around so my review can be more glowing. ... show more

  • Great WiFI 7 Home Router with VPN
I had a Calix WiFi dual band router that was supplied by my internet provider. It worked fine but it had a stripped down interface and I needed to add some routing rules that were not available. I had a GL.iNet travel router that I was very impressed with so I decided to try the BE6500. I couldn't be happier. It has a full interface, supports Wireguard VPN Server/Client, and it is FAST! Signal strength and Range of the WiFi are outstanding and I get full ISP bandwidth when doing speed tests over WiFi. It's even faster on the internal LAN network. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • An easy way to create a secure VPN connection
Easy to set up. I added it to an existing ATT router to provide a VPM protected connection for specific devices. It connected easily to my SurfShark account and keeps the connection. Very pleased with my purchase.

  • Router that really works
Bout 1/2 hr to 45 min to set up. Had to go to website to set up! I have i3 fios internet & needed something that would cover the multiple devices in my home. My son games & daughter works from home. Have multiple phones, iPads, gaming systems, cameras, & tv’s! This works great! Am very impressed with this system! Speed signal strength range, streaming work really well. Little bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Cheaper than the more expensive ones & works just as good! ... show more

  • Buy ANYTHING else
You don't have to read many reviews before you realize that 5-10% of buyers HATE their new wifi router. I had high hopes for this one since it had a (relatively) small percentage of dissatisfied owners. Well, this thing sucks. The coverage is worse than my phone's bluetooth. The signal is spotty. I'd send it back but I was so optimistic I tossed the packing. Hopefully I can use it as a wired access point so it's not a complete waste. ... show more

  • Works perfectly with 2.5 Gigabit fiberoptic Internet.
This was purchased because T Mobile fiber was coming into the area and I needed a 2.5 Gigabit router with all channels at 2.5 gigabits. Absolutely worked perfectly when the fiber was installed. Very high speeds very easy to adjust settings on the router and there have been absolutely zero issues with it highly recommend. I was also pleased to see that even on my machines with just the one Gigabit wireless adapters they were getting about eight or 900 gigabits per second. Previously with my regular cable provider we were only getting about 200. ... show more

  • Great Hardware Performance, but BEWARE of Region-Locked Firmware (CN Version)
I purchased this GL-BE6500 (Flint 3e) here in the US for my Xfinity 1.2Gbps setup. From a hardware perspective, this router is a beast. Using my Netgear CM3000 modem, I consistently reached 1,116 Mbps on the 2.5G ports. The physical build and speed are impressive for the price point. However, there is a major issue for US buyers: The unit I received came with China-region firmware (CN Version) pre-installed. In this version, GL.iNet's most famous features—the VPN Client (WireGuard/OpenVPN) and AdGuard Home menus—are physically hidden and locked. Even after manually flashing the Global/International firmware, the menus remained hidden due to a deep hardware-level region lock. I had to use SSH and terminal commands to attempt to unlock features that should have been available out of the box. For a product marketed as a "VPN Router," sending a version that hides the VPN menu in the US market is a significant oversight. Pros: Blazing fast speeds (1100Mbps+ on 2.5G ports). Excellent WiFi 7 signal strength. Great value for the hardware specs. Cons: Shipped with CN firmware which hides all VPN Client features. Extremely difficult to "unlock" for average users. Final Verdict: If you are lucky enough to get the Global version, it's 5 stars. If you receive the CN version like I did, you'll be stuck with a standard router without the advanced features you paid for. I'm returning this for the Flint 3 (BE9300) to get the 6GHz band and hopefully the correct firmware. ... show more
